I will be receiving SinSod from my Thai man when we do the traditional ceremony in January. Although neither of us have previously married we are a bit older than most (mid-30s) and have been living together for a while, so the amount will be modest, somewhere around the 200k mark. Although his parents were heavily involved in the negotiation of the amount (MIL wanted it to be much higher ) we will actually provide the cash on the day. They can load it up on the trays and return it to us in style and impress all the neighbours. They get to keep their status in the community and we get to keep our money. After all, it wouldn't be an auspicious start to bankrupt the in-laws.
Does that mean a farang man could provide 3,000,000 baht on the day & get it back sneakaly at the end of the reception???..3mil would definatly give the family good face...
but would you actually get it back?

would n't want thailand to change, love it just the way it is,so lucky to live here.

yes i know what you mean, maybe ask her to find the largest law firm in town there will be someone who will speak some english to understand the form and they will have at least one solicitor in the firm who has authority to sign and stamp notary public. Why not google yourself Kon kaen solicitors and see what comes up.
-
maybe the thai solicitor/notary public could help with the filling out or maybe if you both had the form in front of you you could help her fill it out via phone call, let her have a few copies incase of error in filling out

ok i have seen the instructions,it says it can be witnessed by a notary public. That means you just have to find a local thai solicitor in your town/city to witness your signature and that would be acceptable to the australian authorities, but the solicitor has to be a notary public, and they put a stamp or seal in the place where you sign the document.

Does anybody know anyone in Khon Kaen/Nong Khai who can witness a signature on an Australian Notice of Intended Marriage form?
It says that an Australian Diplomatic Officer, an Australian Consular Officer, an employee of the commonwealth authorized under paragraph 3 © of the Consular Fees Act 1955, or an employee of the Australian Trade Commission authorized under paragraph 3 (d) of the Consular Fees Act 1955 or a notary public can witness the signature only.
Does this warrant a trip to BKK or does anybody know if these type of people would reside out of the capital.
Thanks
if this is a stat.dec.form proving you are free to marry(i.e single or proof of divorce if you've been married before)then it has to be done at australian embassy in bangkok.

-
but why would you bother watching england, such a crap team!
Pray tell, which football champion-winning-nation do you hail from?
ENGLAND!
-
when football in the UK had some passion.I used to love the home championship between england, scotland, wales and northern ireland.Players really wanted to play for their country.Remember the scots coming to wembley or england having to play up at hampden park in front of a 120,000 fanatical scotsmen,no women at matches then, just fathers and sons.
And today, there's little allegiance left, players dont want to commit to playing for england anymore, the premier league has become too important(champions league too)afraid of injury and losing their place in premier league side.
For me passion for playing football for the love of the game has long since gone.

So it seems that newcastle's problems are:
(1) the owner
(2) dennis wise
so get rid of 1 and 2.
but bringing back Keegan?when things get tough or dont go his way he'll always do a runner.Shearer?too scared of being a failure!maybe bring in a foreign manager is the answer.
-
yeah england are a sad excuse for a football team, always have been.I can think of only 2 games where they have excelled..........1966 world cup final, and more recently when they beat germany 5-1.
-
interesting news clip, but where is Nan?
-
the pubs have it down for 1am,but why would you bother watching england, such a crap team!
