  1. the more raw food you eat,the healthier you will be.

My only worry is Thais and their pesticides. I do wash everything before i juice it but wonder if that is enough.

you make a good point, but i doubt we will ever know.I buy the "kings" beetroot and celery which i believe are pesticide free. The carrots i buy from tesco and come from australia which i believe to be at least semi organic. You can only do the best you can.

  2. Just saw Taxi 309 in Central yesterday, he almost crashed into my car as he wasn't looking at the road.....

P.s: My wife is from Phatthalung and you can't find someone nicer than her smile.png

Sorry my bad, perhaps a little harsh and my comments were not pertaining to females, just that the male employees from Nakhon Sri South have been uniformly disastrous !

do not apologise crusty...these are not times to be weak and a whimp.

  3. Brother, this is just a really crappy story. I am sorry this happened to you.

Just had the stitches removed today and the nurses told me they've got the guy so the police must have visited the hospital and told them but in the meantime I'm B14000 down in medical fees. My Thai family advised me to let the police do it their way or I might be tracked down by this hoodlum and his mates if I push too much. How nice. I see the guy and his taxi lic. no.309 parked daily in front of Pavilion Resort on Lamai Beach Road' So all of you in the area, watch your backs as they pick on elderly (I'm 72) farangs walking alone. Most of the taxi drivers are from Pattalung where they are brought up to hate farang infidels so things are only going to get worse. So sad for Samui's future !

Crusty, I first offer my sympathies for what happened to you and hope that there is a positive outcome. But that high-lighted sentence is not one I would expect from you and is one of the most idiotic statements of the year IMO.

So South, how long have you lived in the area ? For some 30 years our resort employed some 40 staff and 38 were female purely because the males were too much problem but even assigned as guards or gardeners, the males would still harass the females. I will try and make it easier for you, we are situated at 9 degrees lat, and all the female staff were from North of that latitude and all the males South of. XXXXXXXXXX

    no surprise there.

  4. my healthy foods that i eat everyday:

boiled egg on toast(no butter usually but sometimes put on toast)...or acidophulos yoghurt with banana or red grapes...black coffee or tea.

11am...vegie juice 500ml...carrots,beetroot,broccoli stem, and celery.

2pm. lunch,salad....usual lettuce, cucumber, tomato, sunflower sprouts, baby spinach leaves, fresh mint, sliced raw brussel sprouts.I then crush raw almonds, hazelnuts, pistachio nuts, walnuts and sprinkle over salad...this is my base.I add 2 tablespoons of virgin olive oil and squeeze 1 lime and add its juice.Toss the whole bloody lot up and add the following alternating daily what i add.

    (1) smoked salmon

    (2) half an avocado

    (3)tuna in spring water

    (4)sardines in virgin olive oil

    (5) falafel

    (6)hommus

(7)fetta cheese or low fat white cheese 3% fat only.

    (8) chicken breast cooked with a little coconut oil, sprinkle dried basil, oregano and thyme to flavour plus some sea salt.

Dinner i sometimes do a stock pot of vegies and steam fish with limes juice added plus fresh chili and garlic.

  5. georgegeorgia -- I've been with a number of cancer victims at the end here in Thailand and the lucky ones get morphine. Not everyone does. I've witnessed some awful deaths. So, please don't beat yourself up about accepting morphine for your Mum. You did the right thing. I've been with cancer victims who would have been so thankful for the final gift of morphine.

why were they not allowed morphine?

Probably think they'll become addicted. blink.png

yes,but does it matter if they're going to die anyway

  7. I'm also blown away by how cheap the US is.

In my neck of the woods (Edinburgh) it's very expensive to live.

Sharing a flat in the city with 2-3 other people would still probably cost $500 per month (excluding bills) if you lived anywhere where the police will go.

Outside the city in a small town my dad rents a small house for over $1000 per month. Crazy.

Yeah but incomes are lower as well. I've never gotten paid more than $13/hr in the US. It's a low wage country.

yes everything is relative. In australia the average hourly rate would be $20-25 ....but everything is so much more expensive.

  8. Another thought. I lived in different countries and moved on after a while. I would never participate in a forum for expats in such places. What's the point? Why do people continue posting on TV once they have left Thailand? Is their pain caused by substantial loss of "something" so unbearable? Does bashing Thais and "idiots" still living in the LOS help soothing that pain?

Good questions. I often wonder the same.

If you've lived in thailand a long time but have had to return home for financial or health reasons and miss thailand so much, posting on thai visa is one way of keeping in touch............sometimes its hard to let go,like in a good relationship you might have lost.

  9. the real problem is not having legit insurance with a rental.leave a passport or a 5000 baht deposit you can bet a shonky hire place will find a scratch,a dent or something to extract money from you.either way you lose.I agree with the op. any decent large resort should and sometimes do rent out their own bikes.A 400 baht a night place probably would n't.

  10. Sounds like many that while living in Thailand you never ate Thai food. Lived on over priced expensive crap foreign food. Thailand too expensive ? Yea if your diet is booze and foreign food.

sure thailand is cheap if you want to he'lin a rural backwater eat thai food at the market and drink chang...but its not for everyone, some have higher aspirations!

If you don't want to eat Thai food and drink Thai beer, why the hell would you come to Thailand?

because i sometimes like to eat western food and drink a decent beer.I came to thailand for the women, pure and simple.

  11. Money isn't everything. Go wherever makes you happiest.

So wrong money is everything you would not be were you are if you had no money try and buy food with no money I just can't understand why people say money is everything

agree, its like saying "money does n't buy you happiness"...but try living with no money, being reliant on everyone to give you basic needs and see how happy you are.

  13. Is it really cheaper to live in canada? i can't really believe that. Can you buy a detached house for $100,000? My costs living here in LoS are far below what i would pay in the UK.

Can't say about Canada but in the US, yes. LINK

In the UK that wouldn't even buy you an outside toilet. Minimum in London @$700,000 in some Muslim ghetto.

There are plenty of places in the UK where £35k buys you a house such as this end terrace in Hull.

    http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-48184627.html

Maybe not. Mayfair but you can own it outright and not worry about visa runs.

Food and cars are also much cheaper in the UK.

is n't living in hull like living in isaanbah.gif
