  1. Thai airline is mentioned several times, as in Thai airways.
  2. He was completing the journey I think. He was landing at Phuket when the engine failed.
  3. I won’t mention the Thai people who drink at the village shop across the road from my house and then pee on my garden wall. No Thai would ever do such a thing. Clearly this idiot at the airport should be arrested for a public order offence, but spare me the “only Thais get prosecuted for such actions” bleating.
  4. I can’t see that this has anything to do with visa policy. Look back 20 years and this type of thing has been happening regularly in Bangla road for each and every year. it has to do with services available for tourists in that road, lack of enforcement of existing laws and the resultant type of tourist that frequents the area. The Thai tourist industry reaps what it sows in areas like Bangla Road.
  5. Considering that the British police travelled to Thailand to talk to him in 2023, a “fugitive in hiding” is highly inaccurate.
  6. Either drugs or mental health issues, or both
  7. TBH, I think they just want to create work for themselves so as to justify their jobs. I don’t think they care where I am one iota. As for deterring criminal elements, they do realize that any old false information can be filled in and there is no check that it is correct other than the details already shown on the passport. I just don’t see the deterrence 🤷‍♂️
  8. how can I be private in a public space?
  9. What about all the videos from locals filming tourists in compromising positions without their consent and which then go viral and outrage netizens? THAT seems to be allowed since it happens frequently.
  10. Not sure about Thailand specifically, but google revenge porn and you will get a lot of information on other countries attitude to posting content without permission
  11. Your question is one that that clearly no one here can answer. No one will ever actually know whether the women were really unaware, or whether they changed their story, other than the women themselves. i did notice that the OP does not mention the Perpetrator claiming that he did it with the full knowledge and permission of the women. But neither does he admit doing without permission. if he does confess, THEN you will have your answer.
  12. But if Chinese nationals have to apply for a visa, what’s to stop criminal elements doing just that? Visas are given out like confetti once a form is filled in and two passport photos provided. it’s hardly a big barrier. And who knows, maybe the criminal elements might learn that they can go to a visa agent and for a few thousand baht get extended visas? put back in visa requirements, sure, but it has to have some teeth rather than just be a form filling exercise
  13. It’s the usual thing. Outrage over the symptoms instead of the cause. offer sleezy sex services in tourist areas, get sleezy tourists. Don’t provide public toilets, get people pissing in the streets (or in queues at immigration at swampy). one of these days maybe Thais will be outraged that their police don’t enforce prostitution laws or the government provide public toilets. sort out the causes of bad behavior and maybe it will stop.
  14. Indeed. And not just at the side of busy roads. One of these days I am going to film one of them …..and probably get my brains bashed in for doing so 🤣
  15. Agreed. But those few places are 100% within Thailand’s control. If they don’t want crappy tourists in the those few areas, then change what they offer tourists. Otherwise, back to my original question, why so surprised?
  16. The difference between Singapore and Thailand. In the former he’s tried, convicted and jailed. In Thailand, well, let’s say things are more hazy and drawn out.
  17. Why so surprised? Thailand is viewed as a wild party place by young foreign tourists, always has been, but now exaggerated by a large influx of Russians. Thailand should be asking itself why tourists think like this. Could be to do with the services and “vibrant” nightlife that is provided? Eliminate the seedy side of the tourism product and those seeking that environment will go elsewhere. Keep providing the very things that sleezy expats want and that is precisely what Thailand will receive, year after year.
  18. You seem to be heading off on a tangent somewhat.
  19. “If casinos are to open their doors, they should do so under strict scrutiny, with policies that include comprehensive background checks, financial monitoring, and collaboration with international agencies to track suspicious capital flow.” how well have those things worked in every single other regulated activity? Is there a single one that isn’t riddled with corruption rendering them ineffective? If there is, I’ve yet to see it.
  20. How many tourists went to those places in the ten years after the incidents? Less than one?
  21. But think of the available graft from construction. Maintenance? Not much graft there, so it won’t be done.
  22. So you believe the relatives of the alleged fraudster? Might want to rethink that
  23. The deaths on and around that island continue to mount…..for whatever reason. bearing in mind there are no road deaths, there just seems to be a recurrent theme
  24. Even if there was only one PM it wouldn’t be democracy racy. Her party didn’t get the most MP’s elected by the populace. whole thing is a farce
