  1. Your question is one that that clearly no one here can answer. No one will ever actually know whether the women were really unaware, or whether they changed their story, other than the women themselves. i did notice that the OP does not mention the Perpetrator claiming that he did it with the full knowledge and permission of the women. But neither does he admit doing without permission. if he does confess, THEN you will have your answer.
  2. But if Chinese nationals have to apply for a visa, what’s to stop criminal elements doing just that? Visas are given out like confetti once a form is filled in and two passport photos provided. it’s hardly a big barrier. And who knows, maybe the criminal elements might learn that they can go to a visa agent and for a few thousand baht get extended visas? put back in visa requirements, sure, but it has to have some teeth rather than just be a form filling exercise
  3. It’s the usual thing. Outrage over the symptoms instead of the cause. offer sleezy sex services in tourist areas, get sleezy tourists. Don’t provide public toilets, get people pissing in the streets (or in queues at immigration at swampy). one of these days maybe Thais will be outraged that their police don’t enforce prostitution laws or the government provide public toilets. sort out the causes of bad behavior and maybe it will stop.
  4. Indeed. And not just at the side of busy roads. One of these days I am going to film one of them …..and probably get my brains bashed in for doing so 🤣
  5. Agreed. But those few places are 100% within Thailand’s control. If they don’t want crappy tourists in the those few areas, then change what they offer tourists. Otherwise, back to my original question, why so surprised?
  6. The difference between Singapore and Thailand. In the former he’s tried, convicted and jailed. In Thailand, well, let’s say things are more hazy and drawn out.
  7. Why so surprised? Thailand is viewed as a wild party place by young foreign tourists, always has been, but now exaggerated by a large influx of Russians. Thailand should be asking itself why tourists think like this. Could be to do with the services and “vibrant” nightlife that is provided? Eliminate the seedy side of the tourism product and those seeking that environment will go elsewhere. Keep providing the very things that sleezy expats want and that is precisely what Thailand will receive, year after year.
  8. You seem to be heading off on a tangent somewhat.
  9. “If casinos are to open their doors, they should do so under strict scrutiny, with policies that include comprehensive background checks, financial monitoring, and collaboration with international agencies to track suspicious capital flow.” how well have those things worked in every single other regulated activity? Is there a single one that isn’t riddled with corruption rendering them ineffective? If there is, I’ve yet to see it.
  10. How many tourists went to those places in the ten years after the incidents? Less than one?
  11. But think of the available graft from construction. Maintenance? Not much graft there, so it won’t be done.
  12. So you believe the relatives of the alleged fraudster? Might want to rethink that
  13. The deaths on and around that island continue to mount…..for whatever reason. bearing in mind there are no road deaths, there just seems to be a recurrent theme
  14. Even if there was only one PM it wouldn’t be democracy racy. Her party didn’t get the most MP’s elected by the populace. whole thing is a farce
  15. There is no system or model. It’s one guy bending/breaking the rules to stay in power
  16. Why not detain them? Or jail them for that matter. Other people were on that plane you know. A holes who don’t follow the rules shouldn’t be on planes full stop
  17. I’m having a very good day actually. Just not sure what point you are trying to make in your original post, or the one I am answering now.
  18. I did read it. Having also viewed the video, I decided not to be pedantic about the words used in the article.
  19. It’s all very well having Embassy warnings to say be careful on Thai roads, but what can you do when you are sitting in a bus and a tree crashes onto it, ok ok, near it? Answer: go somewhere else on holiday.
  20. Let’s just say that it was close enough to cause damage to the bus and the people inside. Is that ok for you?
  21. And added to all that, the RTP are now turning into Giant Pandas! Gotta love the satire in choosing that method to blur out the face of the RTP officer
  22. If he has then he will probably reverse it next week 🤣🤣🤣
  23. Some thoughts: 1. lucky the bus driver was only armed with a bus rather than a machete, revolver or machine gun. 2. The bus company may be lamenting the damage to their bus. But it’s their own fault as a result of hiring a complete maniac 3. don’t see why anybody is paying anything in compensation. Surely both have insurance. 🤦‍♂️what am I saying, don’t I know where I am?
  24. Mr O is the grab driver? Not the driver of the bus
