  1. Yeah, just like they announced you couldn’t renew your motor tax till all fines were paid. And then it was you wouldn’t be able to renew your drivers licence before all fines were paid. the biggest surprise is that any of those cameras are still working. Most don’t seem to do so. At least I haven’t had any speeding tickets for the last 5 years.
  2. Not sure that people bang on about them. I do have one. It was refused as ID for a flight from Udon to Phuket, thai driving licence, no problem. Maybe because the pink card has my name written in Thai and the boarding pass in English.
  3. Please tell me you are joking. Those support lines have been useless every time I have tried them.
  4. I can’t see how combining the ownership of two existing operations creates anything for the consumer. Savings in admin costs for the companies, sure. But no extra routes, no additional services and, I venture to say it, no cost savings passed on. As someone who regularly flys between Phuket and Udon Thani, I really can’t understand why airasia either flies every day, as the have been doing, or flies not at all, as they seemingly are doing from the middle of next month. And it’s not just because of low season/high season. They flip flop on the route regularly. Annoyingly, they never announce the changes, it’s always necessary to hunt around on their clunky website to try and find out what happened to flights on the route. as for getting a refund….forgeddaboutit.
  5. Sometimes you have to use common sense. I’d be happy to take a bet that once his year is up, he will be seen in public and not have to spend time in a hospital. but you continue to believe your “facts” if you wish.
  6. Honestly, whatever next. Soon they will have signs saying “Beware of uneven pavements”. dont people realize it’s a jungle out there? You can’t expect the Thai authorities to create a safe urban environment, thats clearly not their job.
  7. Riiiight, the pythons got them. No one wanted to steal the valuable animals anyway.
  8. Can’t go to a couple of my favorite restaurants now because they each have a pot shop nearby and the stuff stinks. It’s worse than sitting near a tobacco smoke if you are a non smoker.
  9. Any word from TAT on how the quality/family tourist initiative is going and whether opening bars till 4am has had the intended effect in terms of attracting those two tourist groups?
  10. It’s probably true to say that allowing a small dip below 800k intraday, should not matter. But equally, allowing an exception costs the immigration officers money. They know that if they refuse you, you will go to an agent and pay a fee. Part/most of that fee will end up in the immigration officers pension fund. to allow an exception is to do themselves out of money. But you might as well try. Nothing lost but a few hours.
  11. I think you have mixed up posts. I didn’t say what you have quoted. It might have been @spidermike007, but it certainly wasn’t me.
  12. Who you gonna believe, the PM or your own eyes? sorry, cannibalised Marx bros joke
  13. Actually he forgot ignoring totally zebra crossings, in respect of parking and otherwise. keep it simple, ignoring all traffic regulations
  14. The master plan to use 4am closing time to attract family tourists to Pattaya as a family friendly destination is working wonders I see.
  15. Have to laugh at the police officer staring so intently at his phone screen…..horizontally. Wide angle required.
  16. What has policing thai laws, primarily related to illegal employment, have to do with enhancing the tourist experience? all this meeting achieved is a bad headline, but I bet they are feeling good about it
  17. So will this guy get fined and warned like the Chinese influencer did for her Nana story?
  18. Well this will bring Chinese people flocking back to Thailand. They are quite defensive about how their countrymen are treated by foreigners
  19. At least the police have it all sorted now. Quick work yet again.
  20. What a misleading headline. I doubt there was any traffic chaos at all in Udon Thani as a result of a few white lines painted in a stupid way. White lines which are routinely ignored because they seem to serve no purpose.
  21. I am one of those three. I’m confused why you think this type of accident doesn’t happen too often. such accidents are regularly reported on and when I drive from Phuket to Bangkok and vice versa, it would be a unicorn trip for me not to witness the recent aftermath of some sort of accident. Heck, even in the island where I live I certainly see accidents on a weekly basis and not far off daily. Luckily they tend to be low speed due to the amount of traffic congestion, but minibus accidents on the hills in and out of Patong are a regular occurrence.
  22. An apology? Trying to set fire to the blanket sounds more like attempted manslaughter to me. Fire in an airplane is life threatening. and then there is failure to follow aircrew instructions. Surely as a bare minimum he is guilty of that. and an apology is sufficient punishment. SMH
  23. No need for a simulation of the drunken tourist on Bangla, quite likely the real thing will be available
