  1. Decline in importance? Is that because you don't like fish? Why do you think that fishing rights are always near the top of EU demands? Most continental Europeans love fish but these days many countries have limited access to quantity and quality. The Dutch and French having some of the most environmentally damaging fleets, tactics and methods don't help. The Spanish are also guilty of this and are still plundering African waters illegally too. How has the UK been shrewd? What did we get in return for this price you say is so "worth" paying for? Fishing would account for a lot more in terms of percentage of UK GDP if we could fully control out waters and stocks again. If UK fish were totally denied to the EU then there would probably be riots in Paris, at least. Retaining access to a large supply of UK fish seems to be more a symbolic show of power (over the UK) by the EU rather than an economic necessity. Fishing is an important political lever which needs a sharp pull.
  2. Yes. That's probably the main loss. I also think that the tax-liable/averse foreigners here will have either arranged to either quit the country, stay out of Thailand for more than 180 days, or have sent much less money into the country than in the past. If the treasury (as a whole) wants more foreign exchange and spending from foreigners, then the threat of personal taxation on them will discourage that very thing. But who knew?
  3. The incident occurred at approximately 04:15 near a coconut tree-lined area of the beach. The coconuts fell down and bounced on the road at 04:16.
  4. I'm not sure I understand that particular terminology but, yes, all very sad.
  5. You are talking about people that probably included the dead. Be ashamed.
  6. I'm sure that the Captain and officers were properly trained and certified but the ship was not under command as it approached the bridge, due to what looks to be the main engine stuck in reverse gear, taking the ship fast astern. There was at least one tug close by, I assume to assist the vessel off the dock and out into the channel. I'm just surprised that they were not connected together with a standby tow line, at least until the ship was clear of the bridge and underway ahead, so that this incident might have been managed and avoided.
  7. What is relevant is that this "fall" was actually a return to the previous trend after the pandemic excesses.
  8. She was under power but not under control, Moving astern faster than the wind and current when she collided with the bridge,
  9. Do you really believe all this started just last week or is it that you just hate Trump?
  10. Your usual nonsense. This downgrade has been coming for at least a decade.
  11. Joke of the day.
  12. The US dollar fall started decades ago.
  13. Not for the first time. This has been coming for a while. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_federal_government_credit-rating_downgrades
