The recent rain seems to have reduced both the smog and the number of new comments to this thread

these days i am partial to winniethekwai and uptheos.
Why would you want a poster of winniethekwai or uptheos up on your wall?
You haven't seen me in all my glory!
Where to purchase a winniethekwai / uptheos poster? I think it would raise a lot of money for charity on second thoughts I'd pay not to see it

I'm happy to do an extra 90 day report every 2.25 years (if that's the going rate) if I can continue to use the mail option and not have to visit immigration an additional 4 times a year - once a year for my extension is enough
-
Maybe the smog can be considered as having cultural value

Maybe time to consider contacting these guys www.stannah-Thailand.com

The recorded message on this is a random "Mai pben rai", "Jai yen yen" or "sabai sabai"

Might be better to move this to the visa forum as a lot of experts hang out there

It probably means that the route is shared by all three airlines so you can book via Thai airways and it'll have a Thai airways flight number but the actual flight will be in an All Nippon aircraft with All Nippon staff

Thank you for the replies - I was unaware these were illegal over here so mods this topic can be closed if required

Anyone know where to buy this? Preferably the non-nicotine version
Cheers

That argument is as predictable as the 'it will kill tourism' argument that surfaces every time there is a crackdown. Being able to drink till midnight is probably the norm in most countries and is not a factor as to whether somebody visits a place or not. If it were true then nobody would ever go to Laos, right? I'm surprised that the golden goose hasn't been mentioned yet.Firstly, the police are not going to give any feedbacks as to their strategy regarding the Loi Kroh Road and surrounding areas. I can tell you to expect many more random police checks in the future and that the whole area is under scrutiny. These directive are coming from the top.
Unfortunately the situation is not going to improve and I can foresee the eventual closing down of most of the adult entertainment venues in Chiang Mai. Even as far afield as Chiang Mai Land has not escaped the clampdowns. The police are now looking for any excuses to close down these establishments, it`s just a matter of time, so the word is; abide by the rules as much as possible, don`t get caught out, otherwise they`ll close you down without hesitation.
It had better improve when the Cricket Sixes arrive or that tournament (or the teams) will probably move elsewhere next year.
I will see your "golden goose" and raise you "another nail in the coffin".
We're all doooomed (said in best Scottish accent )

I think he drinks at one of the bars on LK - boom, tish- I'll get my coat

A cheaper way might be those plastic ring binder sleeves; probably have them and the binders in the Stationery Alladin's cave next to the UN Irish. Although they may not have the stiffness you require....
Maybe run a sheet of thin cardboard in between two sheets of sheet music?

If you decide to purchase a new UPS it may be worth looking for one the comes with an RS232 to USB connector
These typically have an app the you can install on your computer which can shut it down normally when the UPS kicks in
In theory this will protect your computer as it gets to shut down normally instead of just powering off when the UPS battery runs out of power
It should also protect your UPS battery as it will only need to provide power to your computer for as long as it takes your computer to shut down
Again others probably have more expertise in these matters than me
-
Not an expert in these things but maybe the UPS battery is no longer charging / holding a charge

There are also a number of cars on the road with Chinese number plates (even the occasional motorcycle!) that would indicate that some independent travellers are happy to drive to Chiang Mai via Myanmar / Laos

4 off topic and inflammatory posts have been removed.
I guess emotions run high when it comes to British breakfasts and baked beans!
I remember the great bean war of '06 - not pretty

The flavour of the tomato sauce for the beans and spaghetti is very specific - not at all like the flavour of any tomato sauce I've ever made (or wanted to make, I should add). Once or twice a year I get the fancy for beans, chips and egg but not much more than that. Mr K really enjoys them so we have them at least once a month.
The English recipe ones are quite popular in Australia, I don't even know if you can get them elsewhere.
" > Once or twice a year I get the fancy for beans, chips and egg "
At this point I must check that you're familiar with http://russelldavies.typepad.com/eggbaconchipsandbeans/ ..... It's hilariously poetic in the way it describes drab (to the less observant) English cafes. Plus it virtually guarantees that the first time this year you get the Eggs Bacon Chips & Beans craving will be today.
Anyway, got the Heinz Beans. They were insanely expensive, but, youknow, FOR SCIENCE! Chiang Mai Food Science. That's the best kind of science.
And I have a Weekend Project. Which shall also include creating HP Brown Sauce, re-imagined for Chiang Mai with easily obtainable ingredients.
Just use the sauce that comes with khow mun gai
