  1. In any event, even if the present lot in government were minded to make any changes to existing tax rules, it strikes me as highly unlikely that they would come into force before the start of the next tax year on 1 Jan 2027, meaning that we wouldn't, in practice, need to start worrying about them in completing tax returns for a couple of years from now.
  2. But presumably Scandinavian tourists can still use their home country debit cards to withdraw THB cash from ATM's here in LOS, can they not?
  3. Interesting! I was able to claim this allowance OK without having to do anything unusual as far as I can recall when filing my 2025 return online a couple of months ago. Unfortunately the TRD "geniuses" responsible for designing the eFiling system have not thusfar seen fit to follow the example of their HMRC pals back in the UK by providing auto-generated lists showing how various key fields in online returns are completed prior to submission.
  4. So maybe not just Jomtien but also all offices falling under the jurisdiction of Immigration Division 3, as listed in English halfway down this link: https://division3.immigration.go.th/%E0%B8%AB%E0%B8%99%E0%B9%88%E0%B8%A7%E0%B8%A2%E0%B8%87%E0%B8%B2%E0%B8%99%E0%B9%83%E0%B8%99%E0%B8%AA%E0%B8%B1%E0%B8%87%E0%B8%81%E0%B8%B1%E0%B8%94/
  5. In which case it would, I think, be more appropriate for @MarkyM3 to direct his ire at those bungling incompetent idiots in His Majesty's Passport Office in the UK for issuing him with a duff passport in December 2024, rather than at Thai immigration officers for doing their job.
  6. So precisely on what grounds are VFS permitted to roll out the red carpet treatment for Thais seeking UK visas in conjunction with the Hyatt Regency, while in contrast gleefully treating Brits requiring new passports like dirt in comparison?😡
  7. Looks like the blame lies with the rapid growth of the EEC, which apparently attracts a vast number of foreign visitors. The new office was supposed to tackle the overcrowding issues which plagued the old office, but it is clear that it, too, has been similarly overwhelmed right from the get-go since last October. And no doubt the situation can only get even worse for those who need to use the office's services as the EEC's growth presumably continues apace relentlessly and attracts even more foreign visitors in their droves. https://miceoss.tceb.or.th/en/new-rayong-immigration-office/
  8. Sounds to me like a case of individual offices covering their backs with Divisional HQ who are responsible for signing off their marriage extension applications.
  9. The alleged perpetrator, Anthony Russell, had apparently been incarcerated under a whole life order for the brutal murders of 3 individuals (and for the rape of 1 of them who, incidentally, was 18 weeks' pregnant) back in 2020: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anthony_Russell_(murderer) Doubt very much whether any surviving family members of Russell's victims will be in a celebratory mood: on the contrary, his alleged latest deed might well have re-opened sore wounds in their cases.
  10. So presumably Bahtnet transfers which end up in BBL accounts are coded as BTN (?) in BBL passbooks, instead of FTT as for "normal" international transfers? Thus credit advice notes would likely need to be sought for IMM purposes, and the question then arises as to who would issue these. Logically this would be Citibank, I think, but, as pointed out by @JohnnyBD , their Thailand subsidiary was recently bought out by UOB, who would presumably now be responsible for issuing Bahtnet credit advice notes. In practice, this is not, of course, an issue which is likely to arise in the case of the UK State Pension (which equates to nowhere near the minimum monthly ฿40k requirement for marriage extensions) in isolation, but it could arise in the case of rather larger UK Civil Service occupational pensions where similar Citibank/Bahtnet transfer arrangements may apply (as I can vouch for on the basis of personal experience).
  11. @KhunBENQ - neither can residents of Thailand use the services of Remitly, Revolut and Currencies Direct, all of whom I've checked out recently as possible alternatives to Wise. You can only register with any of them on the basis of a home country address.
  12. Too soon to say, I strongly suspect, since the relevant provision was, I understand, only included for the first time in the current TRD forms for the 2025 Thai tax year. In any event, it strikes me that a fundamental issue with which you could be faced in claiming tax credits is the mismatch between the Thai (1 Jan - 31 Dec) and British (6 Apr - following 5 Apr) tax years.
  13. One thing which seems clear to me from this thread is that anyone for whom a Wise account was an emergency Plan B in the event of their home country bank account being abruptly closed against their will may well need to think again after 19 May. Even if payments from Wise accounts in home country currency were still possible after this date, these would presumably then be subject to a double whammy on the exchange rate conversion front in practice.
  14. They are also my office and I can assure you that they are definitely, in my experience, keen when it comes to the TM30.
  15. According to the annoucement issued in advance of the recent change of location, these 2 nationalities are still being processed at the old site!
  16. Also how old is the OP's son? Once he has reached the age of majority (20 in Thailand), the OP would presumably no longer be able to seek annual extensions based on him in any event.
  17. Is this happening at a single location or several? If the former the cause might be an AIS dead zone.
  18. According to the Sun, the attack perpetrator was Anthony Russell, whose murderous crimes were just as horrific as Huntley's. https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/38436417/ian-huntley-life-support-shut-off-hours-death/ https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-coventry-warwickshire-60698085 Clearly no honour among incarcerated murderers.
  19. Nope, while His Majesty's Passport Office does offer an online renewal service for those living in the UK (and, indeed, encourages its use in their case), those of us living in Thailand are barred from using it for some ridiculous reason. Indeed, even the snail mail service dating back to the issue of the Penny Black in 1840 is apparently considered far too high tech for this purpose. Shanks' Pony is, instead, the strict order of the day for submitting applications (which must be completed in our neatest handwriting) here in LOS and subsequently receiving new passports, whether we or an agent are holding the pony's reins.
  20. On all British citizens, that is, with a blind eye being cheerfully turned to non-Brits.
  21. As discussed in the following thread, it looks like the days of the Govt Gateway are numbered, and maybe new applicants are already being forced to go down the GOV.UK One Login route instead: https://aseannow.com/topic/1388182-uk-government-gateway-can-anyone-still-use-it/
  22. Sounds to me more like a case of the good ol' BOT taking care of everything in its regulatory capacity - plus, more importantly from our viewpoint, a question as to how the Thai banks holding the accounts into which transfers from the Wise Thailand branch are ultimately destined classify these transfers - unlikely to be the BBL's FTT coding or other banks' equivalents, I strongly suspect. So, in order to satisfy IMM requirements in the case of marriage/retirement extensions based on ฿40k/฿65k monthly income, the Wise Thailand branch would need to start issuing credit advice notes (aka confirmation letters of international transfers) - something which Wise generically have hitherto refused to do on the grounds that they claim not to have the necessary BOT authorisation! https://wise.com/help/articles/2932335/guide-to-thb-transfers
