  1. Good point. All my sockets in the UK have switches but I cannot ever recall switching any of them off when plugging in or out.
  2. ....but they are the good guys!
  3. A quick Google would suggest that only legacies over THB 100 million may be liable to inheritance tax of 5 or 10%. Most people wont be overly concerned by this I suspect.
  4. You can see the fees by going to the website. It will be something like this;
  5. When my D-Max had an engine change as a result of a recall Isuzu gave me some paperwork in Japanese & Thai which I put away and forgot about. The car was on finance and when that was complete the bank became aware that the engine had been changed and came after the paperwork in order to get DLT to update the book. All done without any drama but for sure I'd make sure I had that manufacturers paperwork if changing an engine again.
  6. He can get the letter from VFS or the Embassy will post one, see here; Transferring your Thai visa after renewing your British passport This service is available in person at VFS Bangkok or online and is free of charge. The Immigration Bureau in Thailand may require a letter from the British Embassy in order for you to transfer your visa from your old to your new British passport. You will be given a template visa transfer letter from VFS Bangkok when you collect your new passport. You can also request a letter in person by visiting their offices, from 8:30am to 3pm, Monday to Friday, at 8th Floor, VFS, The Trendy Building, Sukhumvit Soi 13, Klongtoey-Nua, Watthana, Bangkok 10110. Alternatively, apply online for a letter to be sent to you. To request the online service send a message via our online contact form, giving the reason for your request along with your name and address in Thailand.
  7. If you do decide to buy a ticket make it for within 30 days, just in case the airline is not up to speed with the current 45 day entry period.
  8. There are none., only need to declare over USD20k. More likely limits on departure wherever you are coming from.
  9. Sounds like yours is right next to you.
  10. As far as the visa is concerned agree, but at the same time I wouldn't mess with a 90 day holiday in Thailand without some half decent health insurance cover.
  11. Exactly. You will have to start an application and see what they ask for. But the Embassy website has the following information; Non-Immigrant Type O (Retirement (pensioner aged 50 or above with a state pension who wants to stay in Thailand for no longer than 90 days) - single entry only) Financial evidence e.g. A copy of pension statement if the applicant is a pensioner, or a copy of 1-month bank statement showing your income from pension, or 3-month bank statement of at least £10,000 Confirmation of legal residence in the UK or Ireland. Copy of health insurance that covers COVID-19 related medical expenses, both inpatient and outpatient, no less than 100,000 USD for the whole period of your stay in Thailand.
  12. Yes, at least it comes up as an option on a Google flight search.
  13. (they do try to put you off the scent by missing it out of the "view detail" descriptions, but it will still be there when you get into the application itself).
  14. No. All visas are applied for online at https://www.thaievisa.go.th/ You may find that the process is far less pleasurable than a trip to Hull ever was, they were and will always be the good old days.
  15. It'll be on repeat by then I guess.
  16. They should have not just said "no have" but added "finnit already". Puts the blame on you for being late.
  17. There is no requirement for insurance for Thailand. Don't know about Malaysia although I see no mention of it being required on the IATA travel map.
  18. Yes you can get a 2nd 45 day entry without problem. No, you don't need any insurance (or vaccination information). What you need for entry to Vietnam I don't know. You may need an outbound ticket at UK check-in, your Vietnam trip would be perfect for that, and also on return from Vietnam but presumably you'll have your return ticket to the UK in place.
  19. Since our divorce I stopped paying, maybe she still does????
  20. For several years my wife had AXA Thailand OPD/IPD cover (Thailand cover only). She had several OPD claims and one IPD claim, all paid without any issue and directly with the hospital (BHP). I do not recall that annual premiums were increased as a result of the claims.
  21. It is rather odd that the original story Siam Rath does indeed focus on the mans death whereas for reasons unknown Asean Now has chosen to change the emphasis completely in their "translation".
