  1. Fluently; had a lot of staff and the grandkids sometimes talk Thai among each other, why?
  2. Yes, but 51% are Thais; in many cases the sinking fund "disappears" and if you have a condominium on the 32nd floor and the elevator goes South ...... No money in the sinking fund and that was the beginning of the end. Managed to sell the condo at a loss despite prime location. Thais have not understood a thing; nobody can wrap-up real estate (be it condos or land), load it on an aircraft and disappear into thin air .........
  3. Well, good luck Konstatin was not in Nakorn Sawan then .........
  4. Exemplary proof of the sandbox working ........
  5. Here again, facilitate matters, make it super transparent and easy. You will reduce the numbers of officers in all those overstuffed offices occupying low educated know-it-all-clowns with photocopy checking for blue and not black signatures etc. Publish a clear tariff structure and time frame; do away with re-entry visas and make visas automatically valid for unlimited re-entries during the visa's validity and revamp this monster of Thai bureaucracy. It is amazing, how inefficient and corrupt all this is here; good luck I am out of this endless loop of a vicious circle called visa!
  6. The Department of Special Investigation might be talking to the Ministry of Interior on this subject. If real estate purchase would be as simple as in most other (Western) countries, then such scams could not even take place. Create a one-page law on how real estate can be held, publish this in English and Thai and maybe stop - for once - a two-tier system by "Thai Only" vs "non-Thais NO". Only once I can legally own what I buy I would be considering it; until then you may keep your stuff and keep on cheating the dirty farang .......
  7. You photoshopped pictures ..... again! Cannot see the halos, the medals and the glorifying golden aura ???? ???? ???? ???? ???? ???? ????
  8. The people panic more about what they are being told - I assume .........
  9. Big show-off against the Chinese superiority in the Land of Smiles? I was told, that Bangkok is the second biggest mission of Washington DC after Cairo - but that might be outdated information.
  10. Well, I could not agree more. How on earth does anyone want to send a child to an international school, overly expensive and teachers who mostly do not even speak Thai. Thailand has the best schooling on Planet Earth, as we know and that is proven by all those international students seeking degrees in all subjects in a Thai university. The more stupid Thai kids are sent overseas to try to pass the inferiour school levels of educational institutes in the United Kingdom, France, United States, Japan, Australia or Switzerland. Prior to retirement I had work permits for 30 years and I could write a hilarious bestseller on what can (and does) happen in the process of getting a work permit in the holy land. For starters, they dont speak English (who, in the first place, needs a work permit - Thai-speakers only?), you have to confirm that you have decided to employ yourself for yet another year and produce minutes of a board meeting, where you as the employment seeker, you as a boss and you as a board member as well as you as the minutes-recording officer have to sign - four times on the same sheet! I rest my case and feel sorry for all those kids deprived of a proper, normal education allowing them to meet the challenges of life ahead!
  11. What an impact on his handicap - pun intended! Dump the b1tch and carry on the good work!
  12. "This they eventually did though reluctantly meaning the situation calmed down." I hope you do not believe in Father Christmas - the situation has not calmed down at all; the anger and frustration is just boiling with a temporary lid on. Make sure that the pressure does not get too big otherwise there might be <deleted> flying all over the place anytime soon ...... and suddenly!
  13. Well, if you look at the various two-tier taxation and excise tax levy - it becomes clear. A bottle of local firewater like Lao Khao costs somewhere around 120 Baht for a litre. A bottle of Campari (less alcohol) costs more than double of what it costs in, i.e. Laos; all the while the Laotians are taxing the booze on the way in, i.e. the gap is anything between 450 and 600 Baht a one litre bottle. If the local stuff would be taxed the same way round as the imported, the country would either become very rich in tax income ........ or considerably less booze would be consumed. As the latter serves the higher-ups in keeping the masses close to intoxicated, the local booze MUST be much cheaper than the imported stuff. In addition it allows certain officer to ask for bribes and protection money for keeping the lid on the huge pot of corruption manure!
  14. So, Thai citizen could not get a new passport as their London Embassy had a backlog from the year before? Wondering what those diplomats were doing instead as the visa section had nothing to do anymore for quite some time. The rest is "common sense" and the absence thereof - welcome to Phuket. What you might be able to achieve is a short-cut to extend their present visa duration in their British passports. Another lesson is also, that it is easier to live as a Thai in the UK compared to vice versa, i.e. a British citizen in Thailand. This also helps in the future - in case your kids are boys. At the time when they draft cadets and recruits for their army and navy, your kids are provenly in the UK and hence cannot be drafted. A definite plus if you see, what those youngsters have to do and go through for two years mandatory army service!
  15. Usually such sale is not made toooooo public as it involves faces and the loss thereof. Remember the tremendous area of land which changed hands after tsunami 2004 along the west coast from Phuket upto Takuapa. Some land plots got sold at the price of a new fishing boat ......... It is always the same, those at the bottom of the ladder get wet first!
  16. Write-off the amount and eventually run a big party, should the cash still arrive. My word of advice is to book and pay on short(est) notice to avoid such incidents in the future. A little costlier than all those "early bird" special offers but considerably safer .......
  17. Seeing is believing; as long as the cockpit of this plane features first officers like Anutin, Thammanat, the sitting governor of the national bank or the bigwig at the tourism helm .......... But, as said, seeing is believing!
  18. The chief clown of the circus has been listening attentively to the points raised by the Opposition and has, so far, not found any worthy of consideration. Realistically though he had not expected them to speak positively about him or his administration. Well, if he had not expected that, what did he expect then; standing ovations for ruining the country, emptying the state's coffers at a previously unseen high speed and impact while steamrollering 6+ million voters back in March 2019? On the other hand, if he and his cronies can "achieve" all this, then the country has not deserved any better - every country has the government it deserves and that gets eventually balanced over time if the pendulum tilts too strong to one or the other side!
  19. Well, well, get ready for price increases as all this will be passed on to the esteemed customer base on a one-to-one basis; if you're lucky!
  20. Finance minister Arkhom Termpittayapaisith is proud to announce a rise from 55.2% to 55.6% but has not reached the first level of 60% just yet. If needed, that can be lifted and, as Thailand is the mother of everything meanwhile, I could foresee Thailand going for 500% or more debt to GDP ratio. Keep up the good work, boys, and no not worry how all this will be paid back and by who - certainly not by people like Arkhom and the rest of this gifted government working endlessly hard in the sole interest of country and people!
  21. In other words, the Thai ministry of foreign affairs has been kissing asre left, right and centre to cover up the absolute incompetence of the same country's ministry of health and the leadership of the entire circus!
  22. "Holidu’s Workation Index for 2021"? Another source of information to be ignored - completely. Of course, the clowns at the TAT are having an absolute field day - again. Too many clowns and far too few circuses - as far as I am concerned ????
  23. Nothing new then - and the success is already visible = ZERO! Maybe the health ministry looks after health and some more professional and qualified goons take care of marketing Thailand as a holiday destination and, no, do not rely on the TAT or the tourism ministry ........
  24. As Somchai, the rice farmer in Kalasin or Maha Sarakham, is not paying any taxes (as no taxable income to start with), I just hope that the recipients are aware, that they receive money which has been taken away from them already ........ or they will have to pay in the future. The government, in no country, has money on its own but redistribute money they've been taking away somewhere else. Some goes back to those who paid in the first place, other funds are diverted into utilities like submarines, beautification of Jomtien beach promenade and thousands of representatives in the Lamppostgate - your call! I just wonder, who on Earth will pay for how long for this present, so far never seen, spending spree by the guys close to the government's coffers ????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
  25. Must have been seriously good weed as the picture showed some people jumping up and down the "quarantined garden" - or did I get something wrong yesterday. Well, on another note, the same platform on the same day announced, that nobody fled the scene .... Not, that it is of any relevance but it would be nice, if the higher-ups could make up their mind and cross-check facts ......... And drugs in a hospital; I was of the opinion that drugs are not legal and hence, like anything else (prostitution, corruption) therefore not in existence in Thailand ........
