  1. in usa pcr test are easily available for free and many places they will pay you to get vaccinated
  2. So hotels that sell online for $30 usd a night are 130 for one night with test,transfer....and if you arrive late at night as many do it appears that two nights would be required. Gee I wonder if some brown envelopes got passed around to make sure all the appropriate officials get their cut. Of course they could test everyone on arrival at airport with a rapid test and skip the whole no quarantine quarantine gig but that would not allow hotels to charge 4 or 5 times their normal rate.
  3. June 2021 July 2021 August 2021 Total New hospital admissions of adult patients with confirmed COVID-19 60,000 125,000 345,000 530,000 Estimated share of adults hospitalized with COVID-19 who were unvaccinated 86% 86% 86% 86%
  4. Just imagine if all the unvaccinated brigade would have just gotten the shots (if in a country where available) 5 or 6 months ago rather than spend endless time whining about freedom or trying to act like they know more than thousands of doctors who actually went to med school, passed tests, and treat real people with real viruses. The same brigade that if and when they do get seriously ill run to the hospitals begging these same type doctors to save them from themselves. Turn on your TV or read most any newspaper from any city in the usa and you will see story after story of sick no vaxx people saying they were dumb to not take the shot. Que the crying family who no longer have a dad/mom/sibling because it's too late now. How many fewer hospitalizations would we have IF IF IF this bunch had gotten the shots? Take a guess? A LOT.
  5. I tend to be friendly with people of all nationalities but the topic of this thread is about farang to farang interaction so your "clue" is irrelevant.
  6. Living in a rural area where there were not a lot of farangs around, I used to just do a nod when walking by a farang in a market etc and couldn't understand why so many would not even return a such a simple polite acknowledgement of a fellow farang in a foreign country. I had no ulterior motive or desire to get into a conversation. After a while and being just ignored by more than half I found myself just ignoring them. But i ultimately decided that there was nothing wrong with me. If they don't want to acknowledge me in passing so be it, live in your sad little bubble. To me it is sad that ANY fellow human, farang or Thai, is so afraid of a fellow human that they don't take a millisecond to just return a nod. If someone tries to hit me up I am perfectly capable of ignoring them. Frankly it seems to me that a lot of these people are very insecure or shy or afraid or arrogant or ??. I gave up trying to figure them out.
  7. 2 moderna only side effect was a big smile on my face that I was vaccinated.
  8. I agree no way for 35 million....I looked at wrong stats for which i apologize as don't want to spread misinformation...not sure of real number but i would guess less than 10 million but again not sure if they somehow estimate day trippers from bangkok etc...
  9. yes..but pre covid pattaya was getting about 35 million tourists per year and bali was about 6.5 million....not sure how they define tourists as maybe a lot of pattaya could be day trippers from bangkok?
  10. Repair of common items is a lost art in the west. Just throw it away and buy a new one...then repeat over and over. I always had good experiences dealing with the Thai second hand repair brigade. It provides someone with a way to earn a modest living while saving a few of the planets resources. Who could possibly object to that? A simple example are the sewing ladies who can put a proper button on, repair a tear etc and add years to the life of a favorite pair of shorts etc. In lumpini park in bangkok the govt has classes on how to sew and i am sure that that skill has helped thousands of poor Thai ladies to make some $$. They also run free classes on how to cut hair also aimed at giving very poor people a skill. Unfortunately far too many people have developed the if its broke don't even consider fixing, throw it away and buy a new one. A lot of poor Thais don't have that option so many have become very good at squeezing a few more years out of a variety of products.
  11. Good Luck not allowing high rises. How many hotel rooms could you have and what would a room cost?
  12. https://tidylifehappywife.com/hydrogen-peroxide-hacks/ maybe of interest
  13. Go ahead suggest people don't get shots, clog up hospitals where stressed staff then has to try and save the unvaxxed, cost taxpayers millions, screw up the economy for millions, help insurance companies jack rates for everyone...that is why some get irritated....it's your choice but your bad choice impacts many others. USA Nationwide -- between June and August 2021 -- 98.6% of people hospitalized with COVID-19 were unvaccinated, resulting in $5.7 billion in preventable hospital costs, according to one KFF study.
  14. there "appears to be" a lot of people that want to play pretend doctors or scientists rather than listen to the real docs and scientists who went to school for years, studied viruses and diseases, studied all the various data, treated and dealt with real patients and concluded that the vaccines are safe and effective at preventing the vast majority of ending up in hospitals or icu or dead.....there "appears to be" a lot of scammers pushing their absurd untested treatments on the gullible to fatten their wallets....there "appears to be" a lot of anti vaxxers who end up in hospitals begging for treatments from the very doctors they mock and finally on a deathbed realize that they "appear to have been scammed to death"
  15. I had a nice house in a rural area that i used about 5 months a year...in spite of many different efforts of hiring a gardener and maid to come twice a month I never came back to a clean well kept house or yard....then i tried the route of letting a "reliable farang" stay for free along with free motorbike usage turns out he was a total moron who left a giant mess and a broken motorbike (rather than pay a couple hundred baht to fix what he broke)....i got used to expecting to come back to a mess. There was little to no rental opportunities and i was afraid to rent to thais as it was a big house and i suspect could have ended up with 10 or so living there and i did not want to deal with that. Not easy. In the end i was able to sell it to a farang at a good price but that was several years back and i got about twice what i had in it....mostly luck as the thai realtor was worthless and farang just showed up from a road sign, said it was exactly what he was looking for and he made a good cash offer. Title was in trusted thai friends name with a 30 year lease back to me...i gave her a nice commission, she signed title over to farang's thai gal, i signed over my cxld lease and moved on. Good Luck.
  16. Hydrogen peroxide is a chemical compound with the formula H2O2 and has been used as a first aid antiseptic for injured skin since the 1920’s. The simplest peroxide, it is used as an antiseptic agent, bleaching agent and an oxidizer. It is a common ‘go to’ when there is a wound, and it can usually be found in most household’s first aid kits. As a young child, I remember my mom would rush to get the hydrogen peroxide to wash out our cuts and burns. The blood and other living cells found in a wound use the catalase enzyme to attack the hydrogen peroxide and convert it to (water) H2O and (oxygen) O2. In its low concentration, hydrogen peroxide will start a bubbling action which helps remove debris from the wound and work to kill bacteria cells by destroying their cell walls. Here is where it all gets tricky. Although hydrogen peroxide is thought to be a good first aid antiseptic, the controversy remains on how beneficial it actually is in the long run. As a wound care specialist, I see wounds all the time that are stuck in a certain phase of wound healing and the wound struggles to progress forward. What it comes down to for me is giving the wound the best chance possible at healing and ultimately wound closure. After years of research, we now know that the caustic nature of hydrogen peroxide and rubbing alcohol (another commonly used first aid antiseptic) can destroy healthy cells and therefore affect wound healing. If peroxide is used, it is definitely not recommended on a long-term basis. The bactericidal effects of the hydrogen peroxide are great to clean the wound and kill bacteria initially, but this same benefit comes with a price in that the peroxide can damage skin cells and angiogenesis which is the process of new vessel formation. So for me, the benefits do not outweigh the risks. I see a lot of complex and chronic wounds and it is my job to not only determine the wound etiology but also deduct all aspects of what may be causing the wound to not improve, as well as manage everything that may delay wound healing. People on certain medications will have delayed wound healing potential as well as people with other co-morbidities such as rheumatoid arthritis and diabetes. These individuals are starting the wound healing cascade already impeded by low healing potential, so pouring hydrogen peroxide on their wounds even initially can drastically affect their chance of ever healing. For diabetic patients, especially after a skin injury, the odds of healing not only stack up against you but they do so quickly. My approach has always been to take all steps possible to heal wounds in the shortest amount of time and to decrease the risk of infection which may lead to delayed wound healing, and in some individuals limb loss. So the question is not whether hydrogen peroxide is beneficial. That is not up for debate - there are many good uses for it, just not on wounds. Wounds can instead be cleaned with mild soap and water immediately after an injury. On a long-term basis, there are a myriad of wound cleansing options available which will help to remove biofilm and reduce bioburden in the wound but not affect the healthy skin cells. Allowing the proliferation of fibroblast cells in the wound cells that play an important role in forming new granulation tissue and getting the wound healed. Although the debate on the effectiveness of using hydrogen peroxide on wounds may continue, one thing that is certain is wound care has grown so much especially over the past 20 years. Back
  17. Then there is almost all the unvaxxed after they end up in icu begging for treatments created by the same scientists who created the vaccines. Many are the same type who argue endlessly against the facts, the numbers, the thousands of doctors and scientists who have studied viruses for decades and have created untold health/life saving drugs and treatments. You are on the losing side of the covid conversation and you can choose to be part of the solution or part of the problem. Being concerned with 4.5 million dead from covid and taking every available step to avoid serious repercussions is not paranoia, it is common sense which seems to be in very short supply these days.
  18. Retired at 52 some 21 years ago. Doing just fine thanks. How many friends have I heard say oh I will only work x more years then drop dead or get sick and spend their last few years wishing they would have moved on instead of always trying to make a bit more. Obviously you do need some $$ to retire but I learned to be quite happy living on less. I did not find it difficult to give up expensive western food in Thailand nor was I inclined to get fleeced by a cunning Thai gal. Remember two important thoughts: You can always make more money but you can never make more time. If not now, when?
  19. 4.5 million dead people worldwide would love to be alive to discuss the "obedient media" and how covid dangers are "hyper-propaganda" but unfortunately they didn't get a chance to read your view before they died.
  20. Some of these anti vaxxers sure seem to get their jollies by arguing against thousands upon thousands doctors and scientists who actually have long extensive detailed first hand experience dealing with real vaccines and real infected patients. Go to school for multiple years, pass all the tests, get certified as a doctor, work in a real hospital dealing with real patients with ventilators down their throats begging for the shots when it is too late. Go to any state/city website and see how many daily stories you will find detailing how yet another antivaxxer has begged people to stop the nonsense and get vaccinated. Read about how many antivaxxers who deride the vaccinations get sick and then beg for infusions of various drugs and treatments created by the very scientists that they mock. Then continue spewing obscure garbage from a few quack doctors or hidden websites that only you the antivaxxer in your infinite wisdom are able to understand. Truly sad.
  21. But no time to apprehend mr red bull and jail the entire bunch of govt officials who took bribes to let him get away with killing a cop.
  22. Investigate the Taksins til u croak but the current ILLEGAL regime is scared to death that IF Taksin returned to Thailand and IF there was a full fair national election Taksin or even his sister would win in a landslide. oh and by the way mr red bull is still living it up after killing a cop while hopped up on drugs, trying to cover it up, paying big bribes to lots of thai officials who are still in the government. Maybe everyone will forget mr red bull and your corrupt ILLEGAL government if you go after Taksin once again.
  23. There is a reason that scammers are able to get millions of people to fall for their absurd scams....unfortunately many people are amazingly gullible and then double down rather than admit they got conned....if i were a scammer i would actively look for antivaxers who seem willing to believe the unbelievable in spite of massive amounts of evidence from thousands of doctors and scientists who have spent their lives studying viruses...how may anti vaxers are doctors? Maybe a few quack docs looking to run a scam.
  24. George Washington mandated smallpox vaccinations for American troops 200+ years ago. The Supreme court has upheld vaccine mandates as being constitutional for over a century. We have had vaccine mandates for things like attending public schools for generations. Grow the hell up, stop all the nonsense, get the shots.
