Semi-Open ticket to Thailand
ubonjoe replied to Drew345's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
It does not have to be a return ticket. You can use a onward ticket that can be a one way ticket to anywhere. Do a search for onward ticket and you can find sites that officer a onward ticket for about $15. -

What type of visa will you be entering Thailand with? If you enter on a tourist visa you will not need a return or onward ticket. You may also be able to apply for non-o visa based upon medical treatment at the Thai embassy in Seoul that would allow a 90 day stay. No return or onward ticket would be needed to apply for it. -

Moved to the Thai visas and etc forum. -
You would not be deported since you never entered the country. You would be denied entry for one of the reasons listed in the immigration act. This has been discussed ad nauseam in the past. You can submit a appeal and immigration would have 7 days to approve or disapprove it. This is the form: TM11 appeal form.pdf135.52 kB · 165 downloads Edit: It is time to get back on topic. if you want to discuss opening bank accounts there are many other topics about it.

You did not ask about them and their really is not that many countries that are on bilateral agreements. Source: List of countries for visa exempt and visas on arrival dated October 2021. Those on bilateral agreements do not get the 30 day extension for their entries.
-
Those that get their visa exempt entries from a bilateral agreement do not have the 2 per year limit. Cambodians get 14 day entries and Laotians get a 30 day entry from a bilaterial agrement. Malaysians are not limited to 2 per calendar year if entering from there at land borders.

You can apply for a one year extension of stay based upon marriage to a Thai if you can show 400k baht in a Thai bank for 2 months for proof 40k baht of income. The fee for the extension is 1900 baht. To apply for the extension you would need a non immigrant O visa entry to the country. Permanent Residency requires you to be working for a company with a work permit on extension of stay for 3 years. -
You have the option to prove a minimum income of 65k baht per month. The income can be proven by a letter from you embassy if they issue them or proof of at least 65k baht by proving 12 months of transfers into a Thai bank for 12 months. If the income is less than 65k baht per month you can use funds in a Thai bank to reach a total of 800k baht. The money will have to be in the bank for 2 months on the day you apply.

Info I have seen states that MaeSai is only open for Thais. Most of the crossings to Laos are open. -
To change to the income option you would have to prove that you kept the 800k baht for the 3 months after you applied for your current then and then 400k baht for the rest of the year. The immigration officer that wanted proof you has transferred your income was wrong when he did it. There is no requirement to do the transfers unless you are using the income option.
