  1. RIP Sadly, he wll be greatly missed as a person who helped many thousands with sound advice. Thank you.
  2. Many UK banks allow an account to continue for non residents, but due to regulatory factors they have stopped new members, non resident from applying for new accounts.
  3. Whatever you state, they will see are using internet from Thailand or a VPN, in either case they will effect a "background" check.
  4. Sorry but UK (and most EU) money laundering regulations and legal / regulatory rules state that to open an account, you must be a UK resident or EU and supply proof of address, ie an acceptable bill, and then a "background" check is effected. I assume you are not on a UK voters list or registered for council taxes, you will find it impossible. Like many suggest you should get an offshore bank account with say Hsbc, Lloyds, Skipton International etc. I'm sure some may disagree with what I have said, good luck.

    I day,

Hi Just realised my 30 day visa exempt is one day short leaving Thailand. Will I be asked to pay at Suvarbhumi? Thanks
  6. As ever the figures are a myth, I flew last week with Emirates, the flight was code-sharing with Thai and another. Guess what....the rear half of the seating was closed off, ie no passengers. Overpriced flights and they are unable to fill them, so the Airlines share a flight, suggesting they are busy. They should get real and start some competitive prices, they forget life etc is harder for all nowadays.

  8. Try getting the money back! No chance or fat chance!
  9. The issue is mostly the carrier...If it's Fed Express or UPS then forget it, it will not through Customs. If it's Ali Express post or Thai Mail delivery I have always found it fine.
  10. Wash the table or buy a new one?
  11. Having lived/worked overseas for many years, when friends say they would like to come out, I suggest the following: Airport Taxi Contact numbers, a selection of Hotel prices, suggest the need for travel Insurance and why, state how much money to bring and double it, explain tactfully you are on a tight budget with no money to lenda nd finally which bars are best and sights to see. It might help to explain manners in Thailand as well.
  12. 5000+ posts and he is asking stupid questions! Troll!
  13. Thailand has has little or no respect for refugees or tourists. Now or ever in the past. If you have a large bank account you are begrudgingly allowed to visit End of!
  14. Get a Bolt and also give the Taxi driver the hotel phone number.
  15. I do, only stupid not to! How about you, a great investor! Ha Ha! Yeh!
  16. No envy at all....when I invest, I check out the performance and failures of the business and look at investment managers' history and reputation As for his lifestyle... it's great...and paid for by his investors! (OPM)
  17. Okay, I will admit I don't trust Richard Branson. He has had more than a few companies declare Bankruptcy and in general, the only losers are the investors who are in general wiped out. Meantime, Mr. Branson is in his balloon on his way to his private holiday Island to count his $$$!
  18. In the UK, any emergency illness would be immediately seen and treated. As to costs, it depends on whether you state you have returned permanently to live in the UK, then no cost. Or as a UK visitor, potentially pay as you go!
  19. And who would ever consider going to that badly run Immigration at Jomtien for an extension! Not a chance!
  20. I know many have bad health issues such as yours, but quite often it is just a short-term inflammation. Consider one or two weeks of taking 50mg daily of Diclofenac Sodium, (or 25mg twice daily) it is a Non Steroid Anti Inflammatory drug. A few weeks of this can often settle everything down to normal....Up to you. Good luck.
  21. It's shameful really on Thailand....why can't they show some respect to the elderly and change to "Over 75 years of age, Visa renewal ....no charge!"
  22. I guess no natural land, just concrete etc. No Trees, plants, nothing! But go just 5-10Kms out of town and there you have plenty of insect life etc.
  23. Hardly, its not an EU based flight?
  24. Sadly wrong, there is no facility or benefit available on death to his Thai family. (Bereavement support is only potentially available for UK residents / family) The only possible money might be a private pension, if available.
  25. Yes, the best!
