I have spoken with a few regular genuine tourists who come here at least 4 times a year and have decided to go elsewhere because there are too many reports of people being turned away at the airports/borders, quite a ridiculous situation when people are wanting to holiday here and aren't sure they will be allowed in
Tourism = 18% (+) of total GDP in Thailand, how on earth they think treating people like this is somehow a good thing is beyond comprehension - stupid is what stupid does

This type of thing is putting people off coming here, getting a 30day entry at the airport is by design for visitors from certain countries coming here for a short break (usually 2 weeks), I am hearing more and more from people deciding to go elsewhere because they are not sure they will be allowed entry into the country - how (deleted) stupid is that at a time when tourism is under pressure - oh yes there might be numbers provided from other Asian countries but how much are they spending ?????
Thailand needs to think very hard about what it is they want, once people start going elsewhere it will be very difficult to win them back
It really defies any sort of sensible logic - 18% of GDP and it is going down the drain and self inflicted

In their desperation to save face and stop anything the slightest bit smutty from going on in town, they destroyed exactly what so many people visited for. People wanting a fun week or two away came here because that was what was on offer, and they didn't give a damn for temples and nature beauty spots, a point obviously missed by the folks that have killed the place.
I am sure the average bar or hotel owner would far prefer it to go back to how it was, rather than go broke in a "family friendly" but empty resort.
although I highly respect most of your posts and find them to be a good read - you are way off with this one.
Having lived here a very long time I see no evidence of changes of the type you are suggesting.
What has happened however are three fold
- Thailand has become very expensive mostly down to the strength of the baht, people I know that came here on a regular basis are no longer coming.
- the authorities decided to treat western tourists with contempt, they are making it harder and harder for tourists from the west to travel and stay here, so why are they doing this - to my 3rd point
- they have foolishly overestimated the value that tourists from places like India and China bring here, there may be big numbers arriving but what are they doing when they get here - certainly not spending money because they generally don't have much, I see Indians wondering about in groups just looking, they may spend some time in hanging in massage joints looking for cheap relief but that is about the height of it
Thai authorities think that big numbers translate to big revenue - well it doesn't, they have alienated the big spenders who are now going elsewhere - to places were they fell welcomed and treated properly

And adding biometrics has nothing directly related to email.
I don't think this would be classed as a leak, it is a severe breach of data protection by an official government agency, this is a very serious issue and should not be taken lightly

I agree the baht was being held high or more accurately - they did nothing for four years to keep under control - it is now well and truly beyond the reach of any normal fiscal prudence to control it, drastic measures are now required which could cause an implosion - been predicting this for over a year now

its a tm28, and while you are getting the tm30 done, you may as well do the tm28, if they don't want it no harm done
I won't be doing the TM30
only answer if you know 100% that you are correct - yes that could be difficult TIT
-
I'm not changing province just my permanent registered address
I understood the TM28 was for short visits to another province in country and TM30 was a change of permanent address
-
If house owner fills in TM30, is there any requirement for TM28 for new residence ?

Time of year as the seasons change which isn't helped by being on the fringes of the seasonal sugar cane burning. Here's a couple of websites to check. Maybe bookmark them and track/compare over a week to see if there's any matching trend?

Like I said - not sure I believe any official data - in fact I don't
Air quality has to be measured by someone in Pattaya, it is in their interests to tell lies
thanks for the links anyway
-
Lots of people are complaining of breathing problems and a dry persistent cough
is it the air quality in Pattaya that could be causing this
Thoughts
PS Not sure I would trust any official data either, it's hardly in their interests to tell people that low air quality is a severe risk to health right now

the day they announced they would enforce against driving under influence
of alcohol was the day i started to take a taxi when ever i was going to drink beer.
what a fine example of (deleted) you are
you stopped drinking and driving out of fear of being caught, not exactly very sensible or responsible are you
I see people every time I go out parking outside bars and knocking back drink after drink, why ?, transportation around pattaya is not expensive or a challenge
anyone caught I have zero sympathy - you get what you deserve and in the case of the OP - would have been prosecuted deported and a fine 5x what he payed if I had anything to do with it, the is enough carnage on Thai roads as it is

Nice work Smed.
However there is couple of threads running with O-A insurance issues. All be it 20 pages each. Its been so refreshing for the chit chat members. Needed a new gig after the zillion tm30 threads. BTW I did my new extension Oct 8 CW.
Nice lady io did my docs and last page tm30 (first in 7 yr) was flicked back to me. Did not look at it.
Geez I best start looking for insurance! Thai visa forums seriously lacking credibility in recent times. Many threads of absolute dribble.

How did you arrive at that conclusion. "I am about sure a non o........"
Let me guess, you flipped a coin? Maybe took a punt and thought that you would throw it out on TV.
he put a pointy hat on and looked it up in his spell book under TVF baiting trolling and talking nonsense

Precisely why I started the now closed Chiang Mai thread, it was proof of an immigration office doing what you say they can not do.
based on what - you are claiming something on hearsay/rumour when you have been told on numerous threads it is nonsense
you can believe what you want but by constantly posting it on here you are bordering on spamming trolling and inventing conspiracies for effect
Read the official police order and move on and stop with the nonsense rumours
and BTW I am no supporter of Thai authorities and their actions this last year or so - idiotic

there a lot of posters on this thread rumour mongering and posting inaccuracies and generally blowing it out their a$$ - I have heard similar nonsense from barstool geniuses who also have no clue
there is one police order and it clearly states O-A Visa obtained outside Thailand
Those on 12 month extensions based on retirement are now required to retain a minimum Thai bank balance of bt400,000 for 12 months a year

There was a report about 10 days ago in which an official said that from the end of October the insurance requirement would apply to ALL multi O visas for those over 50. Of course, it might have been that the official was talking out of his a***. Happens often enough.
I'll be going to Savannakhet next month for my multi O based on marriage, and will seek info on here before I go as to whether anyone has been asked for insurance there or not. Of course, others may post on their experience anyway before I go there in the second half of the month.
it was a news item from reuters and was obviously poorly written and inaccurate in substance and the terminology used and was lacking in detail and didn't line up with the official police order, a bit like people on here constantly incorrectly calling a 12 month extension of stay "a retirement visa"

get a policy with 400k inpatient excess threshold and 40k outpatient excess threshold (effectively no cover) and the insurance should cost nothing more than an admin fee

Thanks for the question. Yes, service to the UK and USA will be restored. However, as for the timeline we are not sure as it is out of our control.
I'm going to guess that it is the Thai government and their protectionist attitude that has suspended your service - Thailand makes it very easy to transfer (my money) into the country but throws up as many hurdles as possible to stop me transferring (my money) out, TBH Thailand needs to grow up and get into the real world and stop trying to block stuff that is a basic right throughout the world
I know this is not a deemoney issue as such but what I said needed to be said

800k 2 months before application and 3 months after approval
400k minimum balance at all other times

Hi all,
We apologize for the delays and the temporary suspension of service that has happened the past month. All services have resumed and transfers to the current 14 countries are operational as usual.
We are actively working on increasing the amount of countries available through our transfer services. We are unable to share additional information as it is confidential, but it is going in the right direction. Being transparent with our customers is one of the things we aim to achieve going forward.
Thank you for using our services. And PIB, the OP, thank you for answering questions on our behalf, we highly appreciate your efforts.
beep boop I am not a bot
not asking for any confidential information - I have a simple question
Will the service to the UK USA be restored and if yes -when

Quite an extreme example, I grant that, but have a look in the Cambodia forum about what happened to Sihanoukville.
towns/cities have a natural way of sorting things out, it happens in Pattaya, we have areas that cater for different cultures/nationals, it usually has a way of self levelling based on business
Sihanoukville IMO made a huge error and could regret it going forward
