I guess I'd be surprised if this person could be deported to Thailand without the approval of the Thai government/MFA, and their representatives in Washington, DC? I mean the U.S. isn't like Thailand, smuggling ~ 100 Uighers back to China ziptied to the seats with black bags over their heads.

The US has imposed sanctions on many countries that refused to take back its citizen deportees.

Thailand will not dare to say no to take back deportees from US.

Myanmar and Laos hit with visa sanctions in 2018.

I tried at McDonalds first, as when I signed up for LINE Pay I got coupons for all the major chains, and wanted to try paying, using these coupons.

On my iPhone X I open LINE and click Wallet (bottom toolbar) → Rabbit LINE Pay → My Code.

This brings up a barcode and a QR code, it also shows that payment method is (currently) my VISA card, although the first time I may have this set to my balance (which was sufficient at the time), and from here I could also select coupons, which I tried at McDonalds, which (if I recall correctly) they tried to scan.

I hold my device up to the Rabbit LINE Pay scanner, although several places they also tried to scan my phone’s barcode with their regular barcode reader.

I also tried at Family Mart and The Pizza Company.

I do speak Thai, so I doubt it’s a problem with them being uncomfortable with foreigners, but they are definitely unfamiliar with customers who wants to pay via Rabbit LINE Pay using their phone.

I asked some Thais if they had paid with LINE Pay and the answer was a puzzled expression, so despite seeing the terminals in all the major chains, my conclusion was that nobody actually uses it.

I have success using Rabbit Line Pay QR code in McDonald, Burger King, Siam Paragon food court and Bubble tea shops near BTS. Have you tried increasing the brightness of your mobile phone screen before scanning? I found some bar code readers has trouble scanning QR code on the mobile phone screen that has brightness reduced to conserve battery.

  3. In addition to power generator, I would suggest adding UPS to the wiring that power the lights. UPS will make sure light will stay on during power outage so that you won't have to fumble around in the dark. You only need to fire up the generator if the power outage is long and you need the air-con.

I do think the Thai Immig does not want farang sleeping along the road side, even if in a car.

I have read/heard that such campers are not seen in T'land is due to govt regulations.

My suggestion: check with local land transport office before any $$ investments.

I have seen news about the plan to ban Chinese RVs from driving around Phuket town.

It will also be a small cost saving - no need for a clutch pedal.

Next they'll be removing the brake pedal since so few seem to know what that is for....!!

(Thinking about it, I wonder how long before someone decides the accelerator should act as a "dead-mans-handle", and as you reduce pressure it starts to apply the brakes.....)

Nissan Leaf already support one “e-Pedal” for both accelerating and braking.

This e-Pedal drives the car forward when depressed and brakes when pressure is released.

The Leaf will slow to a halt and can hold itself steady on an incline without the need to depress a brake pedal.

However, break pedal is still included for emergency or aggressive braking.

I think every hotel ask You about passport.  A lot not report to immigration but just for security themselves.

Im not sure its good way, but what about to stay in... temple? Maybe monks let You spend couple days and give You food. I think no one ask You about passport there.

Another option would be to go back to Udon on night bus and wait at home after submitting application for emergency travel document at French Embassy. Make another trip to BKK on later date to pick up the travel document and then immediately head to airport.

All of the noodle shops, restaurants, barber shops etc are about the only safe bet. Very small profit but enough for a Thai to live, particularly if they have no qualifications or education. Pay 3000-6000 baht a month rent. Normally business and accomodation upstairs or at the back. Eat the leftovers from the restaurant and a few thousand baht grog / lottery money. I pity these poor farang pump a million baht or so into these ridiculous coffee shops emoji37.pngemoji37.png

Youll probably find shell be busy first 2 to 3 months then it will trail off again. Then for no reason a spurt. No rhyme or reason to anything...like you could never nominate your "busy" day. This week it might be Saturday. Next Saturday dead and Monday busy. Then theres all the holidays and interuptions (Vote, Songkrahn, buddha days etc). I feel very sorry for the poor Thais who exist hand to mouth

When I visit neighboring countries of Thailand, I see Thai made goods in abundance. Those neighboring countries are absorbing majority of the Thai exports and making Thai economy very strong. Manufacturing industries has become so big that there are always shortage of labor and a Thai can get a factory job anytime.

  8. Are both of your flights are in separate tickets? If yes, you won't be able to use transfer desk. You will need to a) pass through arrival immigration, b) walk to departure hall, c) check in at the departure counters and then d)depart again through departure immigration. Since, check in counter will still open 60 minutes before departure, you have only one hour to do a, b and c which might be a bit difficult without fast track pass.

im curious.  i wonder if i carry large amount of us dollars to thailand and then bring it over to phillipines,,,,,,,,,,,,,seems to me i would be better off to wire the money over to phillipines bank to bank. probably get a better rate too>????

If you hand carry US$ to Thailand first and then bring it to Philippine, you won't have to pay wire transfer fee. Since no conversion happened, no need to worry about the rate.

  10. In English : Racial Riot

    In Thai : จลาจลทางเชื้อชาติ

In Phonetics : Clācl thāng cheụ̄̂xchāti

Example usage : จลาจลทางเชื้อชาติในสิงคโปร์เมื่อราวคริสต์ทศวรรษ 1960 (Racial riots in Singapore around the 1960s)

Agree. I can't understand either how DeeMoney can legally do these out transfers

without all the proofs that banks ask (to those who don't have/had a Work Permit) ... ??

DeeMoney operates as money transfer agent like Western Union or Moneygram. When you send money trough Western Union or MoneyGram, you only need to show passport. No need to have WP. The same concept for Dee Money.

Adding to the list of unexplainables....DeeMoney has higher monthly limits when cash (~800K THB/day) is handed across the counter.  When you use their app / electronic transfer from another bank in Thailand, there are monthly maximums (~690K/month).  Logically, you'd think the restriction would be on cash, and not on traceable systems.

I believe this is to limit the damage if hackers have access to your phone and try to transfer your money to their oversea bank accounts online using your DeeMoney account. DeeMoney allow QR code transfer from online banking app for top-up.

  13. Not sure why, but it does seem like all three providers (AIS, DTAC, TrueMove H) here limit e-SIMs to Xs, Xs Max, Xr and the iWatch.

The reason is because there are multiple variations of e-Sim technology. Apple use proprietary e-Sim technology which is not compatible with e-Sim type used by Galaxy watch. It is like a Betamax vs VHS battle to dominate the VCR market. It looks like Apple e-Sim standard is winning in Thailand.

On all my fly-through flights inbound I have to clear using the regular immigration desks IMG_7082.thumb.JPG.f5ea5e57d78f75c2d23326f4a93a56e7.JPG

outbound it is fast, inbound not so much.

It is possible to miss the ground staff holding the placard at arrival gates for escorting passengers with fly-trough. In that case you can clear immigration at arrival and walk to domestic terminal or look for "domestic transfer" sign for immigration clearance at transit area.

Below is the instruction link from AirAsia for international-domestic transfer using fly-through

I cannot find the sim card that I registered my Line account....ooops

I see on the app that it says change phone number under edit profile ,

I did not want to go any farther since I do not have a replacement sim card/ number.

The original number starts with +66 994------

It's been over a year since I used the number , can I just go to the phone store , get a new account and just change numbers without a problem ?

I understand they need to send a SMS to verify , but as it stands now that phone number is dead ????

    Thanks for your help
