  1. If they do not have a visa or tickets out of Thailand within 30 days after arrival then they may be denied boarding in the UK.

If they manage to get to Bangkok they will get 30 days visa exemption entry if arriving by air. Getting Tourists visas from Thai consulate in uk before trip (available by post in less than a week) will stop any possible hitches.

Thanks for that, one problem is they are not currently in UK. A possibility is buying a cheap air ticket out of thailand and just not using it, that would get them here but once here, can the visa exemption be extended as with a visa or is a border bounce going to be necessary?

  2. I've heard that the clinic opposite Macro is ok for outpatient treatment.

I have also heard this - but I have no personal experience. It opens at 10 am.

Would be good to get some first hand reports regarding this clinic, prices, care, languages spoken by staff etc. I'm sure many people in the NE of the island would be looking for a possible alternative to the hospitals for minor treatments.

  3. I suppose I should have looked at this thread before I booked my flights to Samui for November a couple of hours ago.

I now know why Bangkok Airways had special prices for November.

So where is the best beach for this time of year?

My personal choice would be Choengmon Beach. And it will be sheltered from any westerly storms.

Do not worry too much - the last couple of years the rainfall/storms have been comparatively light. smile.png

Westerly storms in November? Usually and i do say usually, by end of October the monsoon winds will have moved and be coming from the north east (ish) which is why Samui gets its rainfall (hopefully)

  4. Tried breakfast at Secret Garden this morning and must say was a bit disapointed. Great setting and good sevice but 200 baht for a full english was on the high side considering you only get half a tomato and a small portion of beans (the cheap ones too, not even Brooks!) fried eggs overcooked too. Ther was a very nice piece of carrot carved into a flower, but not really sure if a full english breakfast is the place for that. I think there are a couple of better value for money options availably close by in this very competative breakfast market!
