    Thanks Pilotman

Without sounding strange I believe they will say never mind.. They tell you to change it next time you renew your licenses.. They wont bother with making new ones. I understand you could need it yourself, but most likely you can show proof of residency by other means... to whatever you need it for.. By a copy of lease or maybe your TM30 if you have one..

You are entirely correct, and what you have mentioned is not new knowledge. Personally, I have not known anyone to actually achieve a Section 86 purchase.

This is mainly because the applicant needs to import the equivalent of 40 million baht of foreign currency into Thailand, and invest it in the specified manner. Only when this is done can the investor petition for specific written authorisation from the Minister of the Interior. Such permission is not a right, and is at the whim of the Minister. I have never known such permission to be granted, although it certainly could have happened.

The other main stumbling block is that Section 86 land cannot be disposed of to a non-Thai person. This means if a non-Thai citizen purchased such land, and then they died, there is no way of transferring the ownership to their non-Thai children (unless the children themselves imported the equivalent of 40 million baht and gained their own permission from the Minister of the Interior).

If you happen to be well connected and can count the Minister of the Interior as a personal friend, however, it's possible.

Do I remember wrongly or doesnt the amount needed used to be 10 mill Baht?

Didn't need a health certificate, Did have to do the reaction tests and watch the video again.

Yes.. Its like that then.. However.. Went with a friend and he showed international licences and converted them in 20 minutes.. Did take reaction test , but no video or color test...

    Seems it different everyday...

If you were renewing a 5yr what documents did you need, do you need 2 Cor for motorbike and car etc?

I did that some years ago and if not changed.. Two copies for each license of: health certificate, Certificate of residency from immigration, Both old licenses. Passport photos and most importantly the pages of visa stamp and also of your TM6 immigration card. Photos for the licenses are of course taken at site. Health certificate is maybe not needed on a 5 year one... I do not think you need to watch the video again either.

That won't work if already in possession of Thai license, expired or not.

Good point.. But seems strange.. IF you dont have a license you dont have one.. You used to have one, but now need to get a new one.. I would think to convert the international one would work.. but I hear you.. Not to say you are wrong cause you are probably not, but have you tried it or i mean do you know this for sure..? Thanks

    FYI,

You can renew 3 months before the date of expiry, as I did last week.

Yes.. I said a month initially.. I did mean three... Thanks...

  7. Thanks guys... However.. I was unclear... I can not ask them. If so I would have had the renewal done long time ago. I am not in Thailand, and cant travel in. Secondly. It expired one year ago on september this year of nr. 4. That is already within the rules of one year. After that there is a written and practical test. meaning start all over again.. Unless they let it pass since a lot of people will be in my situation.

Emails has been sent and no answers of course.

  8. As we know one can renew the licenses for either motorbike or private car either up to one month before or within one year after it expires without doing any written tests or exam.

However as far as Covid problems exists. It is not possible to renew mine within my limit of 4 september 2020. Then it has expired one year ago. Will there be any leniency towards this or do others have any experiences in this matter?

  9. People here seems to not mention the good thing about the PEA app. Once you have filled in your meter number etc.. It will update if any thing is owned. So day after bill is delivered or same day... It will show the amount payable at the app... From the app again you can pay by thai bank or credit card. Then balance goes to 0 baht.. Next month you do the same..

Sometimes the app is offline.. Just try again after some hours... Its a little funky, but works..

So we - the wretched foreigners who legally reside in this country - are excluded once again?

It's not so much that we desperately need those cashbacks or a 3,000-baht gift card. But it is the principle of things. If foreigners are "allowed" to pay taxes to the Thai state, they also should benefit from this kind of promotional schemes... that are in fact co-financed through their taxes.

Anything else is blatant RACISM. Where are those "Thai activists" that just yesterday staged an "anti-racism" protest against an unfortunate incident that occurred in a country 14 flight hours away? Why don't these "Thai activists" rather stage protests against the racism that is a daily occurrence in their own country?

As long as one pays tax one should be entitled to this.. period....

  11. It has been said that its going to bilateral in the meaning that certain countries will not have to quarantine. Most of europe , australia.. etc.. BUT.. problem is that they might have to quarantine when they travel home again.. And nobody knows yet IF phuket airport opens for International flights from 1. July anyway....Clear as mud still...

  12. They did not get the certification yet from Civil Aviation Ofiice.

Looks like they plan to open on 16th June. But that is based on what NOK, Vietjet, Airasia, Thai and Thaismiles availability pages show. Tickets are unavailable , but available from 16. It might be later if the certification is not in place.

Go to Surat and take the plane there. Krabi is also late..

You might need a Non Imm  -O visa to obtain a driving licence and/or certificate of residence. I was refused driving licence at Kalasin when I had a tourist visa.

You can get a license on a tourist visa. That is for sure unless they practice it different from place to place which I dont think they do. However.. You get two years validity on a tourist visa.. Difference comes on extension after that.. On a tourist visa then you get two new years.. With a non-o or different class visa you would get 5 years. First time is same for everyone regardless of type of Visa. You will even get a driving licence on a exemption stamp which is the 30 days many countries get on arrival. Technically that is not a Visa at all.
