I am still within the 15 year limit, so I can still vote. I have a relative who sends a postal proxy for me. Every year, I jump through their hoops and fill in their 9 page document to stay registered. However, as far as I know, I have never successfully voted. Electoral services mess it up every time.

I on the other hand get an email from my old council every year asking if there is any change in my circumstances and do I want to continue with my proxy, a simple yes or no response is all that is required.

My proxy vote is delivered to a friend for every election or vote and, save for the fact that my vote wasn't sufficicient to stop us crashing out of the EU, it's worked seamlessly and without a hitch.

  2. I suppose the travel forum might have been more appropriate, but as people travelling to the UK often read this forum let's leave it here.

We were considering travelling to the UK about now, but didn't go ahead with the trip as we read about similar issues from numerous other travellers.

You could be forgiven for wondering if some of these contractors had a direct line to those carrying out the procurement of these services, I'm of course not alleging anything.

That's what they are offering here in Hua Hin. The problem now is that Since 9 July the Que is at around 3200 and has not moved as of last night? I'm at 10,900+ .

I guess they just are not getting any vaccine here?

They seem to update the list over the weekend, the current list was posted on Saturday 17th for vaccinating yesterday (20th) and goes up to 7396.

    1. Do the local councils not have email? or the Embassy? And why would the form have to come from each voters individual councils. One generic form covers all and the voter fills in the name of the ward / constituency he is registered in for voting.

I don’t know about your ballot papers, but mine always have the candidates for election printed on them.

So if your suggested system was implemented and the individual constituencies or wards didn’t send out the ballot papers, how would you expect the voter to know the names of the candidates on this generic form?

  5. @polpottDo you have the Bangkok Bank App, there is an option to transfer funds to the UK and to access their Western Union Service.

I haven't tried either service with them, but I have used the Kasikorn App which has a similar service and works seamlessly.

Dee Money, as others have said, works well but you need to be in Thailand to open an account.

You can send cash online to the UK via Western Union from a Debit Card, you do have to register, I haven't used them but it looks pretty straight forward. https://www.westernunion.com/th/en/send-money.html?src=gg___&utm_content=sdc_pcrid_398394828191_mt_e_kw_western union thailand&gclid=Cj0KCQjw6NmHBhD2ARIsAI3hrM11PL9Zd-sVI1p_hA-IOejavy3QwYLnJSSSYyawoJVJGKkr9KYEiMoaAk17EALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds

You have to apply at the Embassy of whichever country you will first visit.

That's not so, as I clarified earlier the applicant must apply via the Consulate with Juristiction for the main destination within the Schengen Area, for example if they are intending to fly into Paris, spend a few days there before travelling to Italy where they intend spending a week, they should apply via the Italian Consulate.

If however they are travelling and spending an equal amount of time in more than one Member State, then they should apply via the Consulate with Juristiction for the Entry Point in the Schengen Area, unless of course their entry point is their main destination.

can an American sponsor a Thai person to go to EU?

Yes they can, particularly if they're travelling with them.

I'm not sure that sponsoring is actually the appropriate term, you or whoever are actually providing financial support to cover the cost of the trip.

The applicant should demonstrate that they heve sufficient funds to cover the cost of the trip, some Member States have an actual daily amount. If somebody else is paying for the trip, they will need to demonstrate that they have sufficient funds and that it's appropriate for them to do so.

The applicant will need to demonstrate that they have sufficient funds for the duration of the trip, adequate insurance, booked accomodation for the duration as well as flight tickets to and from their home to the Schengen Area. If they intend visiting country, the UK for instance, they should apply for that visa first.

It's imperative that the applicant demonstrates strong ties to their own country, or country of residence.

Spain requires sponsor to have residence TIE and police letter. Pain.

Italy requires only residence for sponsor. Form & Process Real Easy.

Whilst a person sponsoring an applicant for a Schengen Visa may well have to provide supporting documents, not all Thai applicants are sponsored, and as in the case of the OP, who is not a EU National, sponsors do not have to provide the evidence to which you refer.

Thanks for the copy, but that credit advice was for a swift transfer.

I needed a copy of a credit advice for a bahtnet transfer or is it the same?

As I said that was from Wise who record Bangkok Bank transfers as if they’re FTT, even though they’re not strictly so.

With Bahtnet I think the only difference will be Bahtnet will be in the line where mine shows FTT, IO’s should know that Bahtnet is compliant.
