  1. Yes Fangless, Dukes have a pineapple topped Hawaiian pizza and most probably have a bottle of brown sauce stashed away behind the bar for their less discerning diners!
  2. That is a pitiful amount. S Korea is investing well over a billion USD into vaccine development. But we all know that Prayuth lives in some kind of dream world and should not expect him to come up with anything practical. He is much happier to spend 100 million baht on the 45 minute appearance of two insignificant singers with whom he can take a selfie than ensure vaccine security for the nation.
  3. The characterisation of foreigners as virus vectors needs to stop. There have been no cases of infection hotspots in CM caused by foreign visitors, they are all due to Thai infecting Thai. Of course the innate xenophobia in this country was only magnified by Anutin calling farangs dirty! His words will haunt tourism for as long as he is around. But opening to foreign tourism is essential because Thai people are too indebted to undertake more than the minimum of domestic tourism.
  4. Overseas tour operators are simply not going to deal with Thailand until the government stops putting out the fake news that the country is open. Any overseas tourist coming here will feel hugely conned because there are so few facilities allowed to open. US & European citizens are far better going to Mexico & the Caribbean or the Mediterranean countries where they can fully enjoy all the facilities that they demand for a holiday. Thailand offers nothing in comparison & the government is going to learn that very quickly. And spending 600 million to celebrate the non existent opening is sheer folly. I am an investor in a tourism related business but we will not be opening this calendar year.
  5. Lmfao. How can they say it has bottomed when the 4th quater has hardly started. Thailand is export and tourism dependant and neither of these will see any meaningful improvement this year.
  6. Talk about stating the obvious. If this is the best the Democrats can do they certainly eont get any seats in the next election.
  7. All part of his campaign to rebuild his ruined reputation and position himself as a potential next Prime Minister.
  8. So the Dirty Farangs so beloved of Minister Anutin are still to be required to have tests. Just another example pf the discriminatory attitudes so prevalent in Thailand.
  9. A sense of laxity has descended on CM so outbreaks like this are inevitable. The Tesco minimall in Ruamchok has had at least 2 hotspot outbreaks in recent months and yet when I was there last week they did not even have a working thermoscanner at the entrance and no one supervising. With a new governor installed a few days ago it will be interesting to see how the very slow vaccination programme progresses, how the air pollution crisis unfolds and if there is a viable tourism promotion programme. I cant say I have much confidence in the future.
  10. The requirements published days ago for a November 1 reopening of CM include the fact that there are no new hotspots. So I guess that with the more than trebling of daily new cases we can kiss goodbye to having 90 tourists a day arrive to rescue the local tourism sector. Add to this the unbelievably slow vaccination rate that has yet to reach even 40% and you could say that the fancy pants new governor has some work to do.
  11. I wonder if his butler remembered to choose one of his waterproof watches for him to wear during the visit!
  12. The behaviour of the Health Minister, his characterisation of farangs as dirty, the wholly unscientific selection of vaccines, the bureaucracy that resulted in blocking the order for Moderna for months, the shipping of infected people out of Bangkok resulting in nationwide spreading of infection, citizens dying in the streets, the itterly ludicrous manner that private hospitals operated registration for Moderna using sites like Shopee, the experimentation of subcutaneous vaccination on the public, the forced vaccination of people with Sinovac, the incompetence in contracting with AZ Siam Bioscience for vaccine supply, etc etc etc. Oh yes come to Thailand as a medical tourist and see how you will receive world class treatment. You must be out of your mind!
  13. Have they not noticed that their draconian measures are not working? In less than 2 months Japan reduced it's new case rate by 80% with much fewer restrictions, South Africa has only 500 new cases a day with far fewer restrictions. If this clampdown goes on much longer there will be far more outbreaks of "illegal" activity because the population are utterly sick of the boredom and lack of new cases being decreased.
  14. Using the same argument he should also propose to legalise battery operated dildos and other sex toys!
  15. It is deliberate junta policy to squeeze out what is sees as the undesirable elements of !ife generally & especially nightlife, particularly bars and entertainment venues. This country is in the grip of highly conservative thinkers who see bad influences on Thai society from modern lifestyle & thinking, and the pandemic has given them a chance to drive these small operators into bankruptcy. It is common for dictators to align themselves with a few easy to control businesses and this is what is happening. Soon Thailand will be freed from the poisonous thoughts of democracy brought in by Dirty Farangs and ordinary Thai people will be back into subservient positions, just as they were a century ago.
  16. TAT is flailing around creating all kinds of incomprehensible slogans, idiotic strategies and ludicrous forecasts. The inmates have taken over the asylum and are having a field day. But sadly the tourism industry will continue to be totally decimated and bankruptcies will increase. 2021 will go down as a year of utter confusion and rank bad performance by all government agencies. TAT has no credibilty and no one in the tourism industry pays the skightest heed to their nonsensical ramblings.
  17. Utter borrocks! The slogan makes no sense, nor does the strategy. Thai people are drowning in debt and the small number who travel will visit family to save on costs. This will do b*gger all for hotels, restaurants etc. And with bars and entertainment venues still closed there is no joy in visiting CM.
  18. Hmm, do I detect a teeny bit of an attempt to burnish the reputation of the minister and the dear leader at the end of this PR exercise! Looks like someone is trying to make nice in order to garner government funding for vaccine R&D.
  19. All these food riders are nothing but modern day slaves, with no job security, no health insurance, and employers that take a huge fee out of their earnings. Anyone using these services is guilty of exploitation.
  20. So, yet another example of the Thai government using citizens as lab rats. Despicable exploitation of the population.
  21. Plenty of speculation caused by what looks like a premature TAT announcement. It seems the CCSA has to put a recommendation to the dear leader next week. So right now there is nothing definitive.
  22. Quite simply this government does not want the small businesses to exist because it cannot control them like it does the big "Chinese" conglomerates. The sooner Thailand is cleared of independent creative thinkers and business people the happier the junta will be.
  23. This is not a survey it is a propaganda exercise. They do not disclose the sample size, locations, demographics etc. It was conducted in a period when the situation was totallt out of control and clearly people were not thinking about anyghing but survival. The published results are simply unbelievable.
  24. In simple terms, no gatherings of more than 50 people, bars closed since April and no indication of when they can reopen, restaurants can sell food but no alcohol. Life in the CM tourisn and entertainment industry has basically ground to a halt and many businesses will no reopen.
  25. It is all very well organised with helpers ensuring that people understood the process. Take a pen to fill in the inevitable form, and know your birth year as per the Buddhist calendar. Queues were orderly and moved quickly and each of the 8 steps took very little time. In total it took one hour including the 30 minute rest period and I was given a take away document that quoted the lot & batch numbers of the Pfizer vaccine used as well as stating the date for the second dose. I am no fan of the government but the health authorities did a very good job. Using the proven Eventbrite booking system rather than some half baked local one was a good decision.
