  1. hi mr best sound in town.... lol

we are fortunate that at least some representatives are hanging around (well, we won't know if they are now vacationing in diamond head, hawaii.... or actually still in bkk.... lol)

    to hear us out....

other consulates are not doing anything like our rep are.... many cheers to our rep....

wonder if other folks are informed that they can actually attend this meeting thru internet connection....

how do we get words out.... there are only a few hours left....

let me see, if i can entice some tv stations to broadcast this meeting.... no promises though.... :)

mr best sound.... do u know.... if attendees will be paid in usd or not.... just in case.... the station managers ask.... :D

  2. mr good voice--sieng dee mark :)

what is it with you....? :D

i still would love to attend in person even if in the middle of sa la daeng intersection.... :D:D

    count me in....

but i also concur with you.... but so what....? if a few other significants :D:D:D want to snoop around our good intention gathering....

perhaps, it could also become a working module for other nations to copy to promote their own interests as well....

yes, face to face town hall meeting with some classified optical scanner would be much more exciting.... with certain air of exclusivity.... :D

but with some staff members already thousand of miles away from bkk, this virtual meeting would do just fine.... imho

but first.... i really need to get permission from my significant other.... :D:D

  3. a leader of a nation needs to act decisively and prudently under the laws....

inasmuch as i am all for apisit to date....

apisit has not to date acted decisively in any shape or form to demonstrate his conviction and policy to adequately govern this unlawful demonstration.....

apisit has not acted prudently either.... to deal with redshirts with spec and span gloves....

and to disregard the value of lives of innocent.... indirectly sacrificing them for the preservation of redshirts....

how long would the middle class tolerate these types of behavior of the leader who is highly educated in theories but surely lacking applicable experiences, so far....?

let's see what happens after the 15:00 today....?

the silence majority will not standby silently too much longer....

seeing the country is going down the hill fast.... because of apisit's, police chief's and military leaders' preferences to not act to uphold the constitution and to enforce laws and orders....

what will the defenseless middle class do.....? if history is correct.... they will do what their govt fails to do.... that is to defend their lives, freedom, liberty and justice....

and whatever and whoever are causing the major dissatisfaction will be dealt with.... as they see fit.... it won't be a pretty picture.... not at all.... particularly for thailand....

thais are very much different from farangs.... while very very few among us would give our lives for our leaders....

thais would happily and willingly defend the royal family with their own lives.... without any question asked....

many cheers for the thai citizen around the world as well....

  4. It's all so simple! All Mr Abhisit has to do is to dissolve parliament now and call an eleciton at the earliest opportunity. Let the people decide. It should be their call. Then the army must guarantee that they will back the result.

Why doesn't this happen? Becaue Mr Abhisit knows he will lose. So he is prepared to spill Thai blood in an unseemly attempt to cling onto power at any cost.

let me start from primary school level (so you understand): the reds had an offer in which to accept Abhisit dissolving parliament. they refused, understand? refused. and now they hold bangkok hostage.

would you want to be at these fools' disposal?!!

    you got that right, gemini81....

anyone who chooses to barricade inside the danger zone is entitled to whatever is coming into the red zone....

and there shouldn't be any ifs.... or buts.... thereafter....

crying for u.n. intervention is clearly doctor wheng's foreign policy idea....

he only wants to become ministry of foreign affairs, if and when tuxsin returns....

did you realize that once upon a time, only a couple of years back.... he was shouting DOWN WITH TUXSIN, DOWN WITH TUXSIN....

this outrageous doctor of medicine can be seen at youtube.... during one of the several yellowshirt gatherings....

doctor wheng became utterly enraged when sonthi and others who somehow sensed his dubiousity, refused to make him a yellowshirt leaders....

however, the redshirts did honor him and granted his wishes.... and now we see the damages he could cause to any reputable organization....

he in many ways is quite similar to his boss.... tuxsin.... imho.... :)

  5. The OP has obviously been in the "thick of it" and is now an expert on determining the direction of gunfire in urban warfare.

Abhisit said he would use snipers and they are at work picking off random civilians at will.

The tactic was/is to try and scare the protesters into giving up.

Like most of the government's plans they have failed.

They tried it on April 10 and it failed, now they try the same stupid tactics again!

    It will not work!

They will have to go on killing and maiming with sniper fire for weeks or even months before the reds will give up!

How would you feel if your mates had been shot by snipers under orders from Abhisit?

I think you'd be as angry as hel_l and hel_l-bent on revenge, like I would be!

If you surrender you're going to be sent to prison for a long time (under Abhisit's regime) so what have you got to lose!?

Abhisit refused to allow all to go home with amnesty and now look what he has created!

The death toll are all civilians. No army men!

If the Reds are so heavily armed, where are all the dead army personel?

I've only seen reds with sticks and stones and burning tyres. A few home made rockets and firecrackers ..

Hardly a match for the army's weapons.

Army snipers in action, very clear & close up from the 50 second point onwards in this clip:

Abhisit can now be officially named "The Butcher of Bangkok"

    NOT SO FAST.... XEROSTAR....

where have you been during the past weeks that you did not hear nor see any seriously injured policemen and military personnel....?

pls if you do not understand thai, you could search the youtube....

there are plenty of evidences to the contrary....

when you watch the thai news clips.... watch for those dressed in black with masks on.... they are reputedly main supporters of the redshirts....

the main supporters that the redshirts leaders have been claiming that would come to defend them and level bangkok into rambles and ashes....

in my opinion.... the thai soldiers are outmatched.... instead of the other way around....

  6. Rates to exchange USD to Thai Baht are about 32.23 to 32.42 at the time of my post.

    http://www.bangkokbank.com/Bangkok%20Bank/...es/Default.aspx

    http://www.xe.com/ucc/convert.cgi?Amount=1...=USD&To=THB

31.19 is about the buy rate

i am rich.... i am getting richer.... i am richer than what is his name.... :D

i'll buy usd at 31.19 thb and

sell at.... what did you say the rate was.... 32.42 thb....?

    when can i begin....? :):D:D

  7. The guy who stood in front of the Chinese Tanks approaching Tianaman Sq was at the time considered "daft" :) and to this day his identy is believe still unknown.....??

Little guys form and change history...

the chinese student who stood in front of the tank effectively blocking the column of tanks from advancing, was at that time considered by everyone from every nation, except chinese govt, as a 'hero'.... not a daft....

and he is not unknown.... when i have a little bit more time, i shall search for his name.... i remembered seeing his pix once some years ago, on a chinese newsprint....

  8. These soldiers could have easily fought off the mob as they had at least one automatic assault weapon. They surrendered and were beaten badly and shot. I bet none of them will make that mistake again. :D

    ulysses....

did you see that referenced video clip as well?

could you provide the source and location of that video clip, pls? thx much.

Nakachalet it's all over yesterdays 'Red Shirt Rally - live update Saturday' thread and I think there are 2 of them, different viewpoints....repeated in replies many many timeszzzzzz. Dont have time to hunt but likely you should start around Page 40+ :D

Ooops - I mean the 'More Bloodshed...' thread :)

    -------

    ok thx

    found the referenced video....

red shirt animals stop army truck kill soldier

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6rGqZDvRa_U...eos=GCdSFI_PejM

in reference to the above video....

the lady announcer sounded very much like a beginner.... or a redshirt sympathizer rather....

she said that the nor-por-shore (redshirts) was trying to cause bodily harm.... (the soldier was shot, lady....!)

i could only guess that those soldiers were thinking that they were 'watermellons' soldiers.... and thus no nor-por-shore would harm them, for they are on the same side and are serving the same master....

any soldier would have, as many posters suggested, open fire for self-protection and scattered the crowds....

a very expensive lesson is taught.... but not necessarily learnt.... :D

other soldiers on the truck, as the lady reporter continued, were beaten.... guns seized and vehicle damaged....

and that was the story that was.... very sad.... poor watermellons.... my deepest sympathy for everyone concerned....

apisit.... how could you be so naive.... ????????????

pls do exercise your entrusted and court confirmed constitutional rights to protect the ordinary citizen....

how many more innocent lives need to be sacrificed for the sake of being civil to the redshirts and their supporters....?

    -------

in the not too many days ahead.... the ordinary people would also join other disobedient groups.... to call for your personal as well as govt accountability....

the terrorists demand your resignation for their obvious reasons....

but the ordinary citizen would demand your resignation as well.... but for the opposite reason....

your inactivity, your indecision, your lip-service, your non-caring for the defenseless citizen who depend on you... but instead....

you are depending on them to act on your behalf....

WHAT IS REALLY DETERRING YOU FROM TAKING DECISIVE ACTION AGAINST THE TERRORIST GROUP?

are your family members being held hostages....?

pls do let us know your difficulties.... so we might understand your indecisiveness and your fears....

we want to continue to support you that is for sure.... but you are creating circumstances that appear....

you value nor-por-shore, redshirts, more than law abinding citizen and your own supporters....

you surely do not.... do you, sir....?

pls do take decisive actions now, sir.... expeditiously sir.... to save yourself and the democratic party....

and especially thailand.... from unwanted lawlessness....

our beloved thailand surely deserves better performance and decision from a top notch politician like yourself sir....

if you do have personal reasons and reservation on the performance of your constitutional duty, we do understand.... but

pls do appoint someone else worthy to carry out this honorable duty, sir....

our family members are your friends and your supporter still sir.... but no one wants to see thailand suffers much longer.... sir

we implore you to act now sir.... and to act decisively sir.... and to take drastic action immediately sir.... to protect thailand.... sir

and i'll tell former pm mr chuan the same thing.... sir

  9. Dear Thai Government, The next time you issue a "demonstration permit" for the city of BKK, can you limit the number of demonstraters allowed to the amount the crowd police can handle; assign the area they have to protest at (hopefully not their choice) ; and make sure the demonstration/ rally permit has the amount of HOURS (not months) the rally is to last. If this had been enforced with the "Yellow" and "Red" political gatherings in the past, we wouldn't have had these messes.

    Thank you / kup,

    Khun Bill

The problem, Bill, is that there is no standing law limiting demonstrations or requiring advance permission but the constitution allows the people the right to peaceful demonstration that doesn't infringe on the rights of others. The Emergency Decree curtailed freedom of assembly but by then it was too late and the government was able to enforce the decree. The police have a lot to answer for by allowing the red shirts to rally at Rajprasong from the beginning and erect a stage there that blocked traffic and clearly infringed on the rights of other citizens to pass by and go about their normal business. This took place virtually in front of National Police Head Quarters, so they can't say they didn't notice it. Now they can't be trusted with any security operations against the red shirts.

    ha ha ha.... arkady dear....

great obs.... did any farang know....

what red-tomatoes means in reference to thai policemen....? and

what watermellons means in reference to thai soldiers....?

the thai policemen who are redshirt sympathizers are called by thais as.... red tomatoes 'cause they are red inside.... :)

the thai soldiers who are redshirt sympathizers are also called watermellons 'cause they wear green uniform but are red inside.... :D

as i recalled.... as i was switching among satellite channels.... a thai news clip on early sunday nite mentioned that there were some five policemen bodies found with notes attached to their bodies.... stating that these were among the groups of policemen who failed to protect the general public during the last mayhem.... it was a newslady who read from her prepared text.... but i just could not remember the satellite channel.

  10. These soldiers could have easily fought off the mob as they had at least one automatic assault weapon. They surrendered and were beaten badly and shot. I bet none of them will make that mistake again. :)

    ulysses....

did you see that referenced video clip as well, post #16?

could you provide the source and location of that video clip, pls? thx much.

  11. not that i support violence....

but it has been warned for several weeks now....

do not go to the restricted areas where illegal demonstration is taking place....

it is also warned that those remain with the redshirt leaders would be considered willing participants in unlawful demonstration....

i wonder if the poor boy did ever wander into the restricted area by mistake....

anyway, my deepest condolence to the parents and relatives....

thus.... thai govt is not and can not be considered rogue.... by any stretch of imagination....

A 10 year old boy shot dead today.

    gallery_327_1086_19838.jpg

The Thai Armies have Cross too many lines to go back.

The Thai Government has now become a Rouge Nation.

The Chinese Government in their worst day never Opened Fire on a Crowd of Protestors.

Sure they beat people to death with Clubs, but never have they SHOT 10 Year Old Children and Elderly WOmen.

The Thai Government has become a Rouge Nation.

The Chinese government never opened fire on a crowd of protesters? Are you insane? Have you not heard of the Tienanmen square massacre? The Xinjiang riots? I could go on but you're either some Chinese revisionist history believing nut or completely ignorant. If this situation were happening in China or most any other country the death toll would be a hel_l of a lot higher.

Could not have put it better myself

And I assume he meant "ROGUE" Nation

  12. are we to presume that these individuals were just shot by the authorities for being in the wrong place at the wrong time?

NO.... THAT WOULD BE GRAVELY INCORRECT TO PRESUME SUCH....

individuals who are still there participating in the demonstration regardless of how good their intentions are....

....are there by their own choice.... which means that are knowingly or unknowingly participating in demonstration which has been ruled by the court to be unlawful....

furthermore.... it has been over a month now that the weakly apisit govt has been warning each day and night beseeching individual demonstrators to leave the premise.... because their gathering has been ruled by the court to be illegal....

it has now been over two weeks that the repeated warnings have been given to the redshirts to leave the illegally occupied areas....

many protesters including the leaders presumes that in the past.... many times the police (nicknamed by the reds as red tomatoes) and the soldiers (nicknamed as watermelon which is green outside but red inside....) succumbed conveniently to the mobs because of more reasons than one.... that they would this time also retreat in good will.... if the redshirts are to apply more pressure....

as we learn from current confrontation.... the redshirt leaders are deadly wrong....

my deepest sympathy goes to those poor and innocent northeastern followers who are not able to return by choice to their families, again because of various reasons.... some are still hanging on to the promise of their district representatives that.... each would earn 200,000 THB if they could bring the apisit govt down.... by whatever means....

coming back to the point.... the people who are still there.... are there by their own free will and personal choice.... which means to continue to show their power to disrupt govt orders as well as ordinary people life style....

whether or not the reds would seize the children and students as human shield to protest themselves is undeterminable at present.... their willingness to enter and disrupt the hospital at chula.... showed plenty what the many reds would do to satisfy their own needs and desires....

garath.... at present.... it can be presumed that most illegal demonstrators are there not by accident.... but by their own free will to show who is really the boss.... this is my humble conclusion....

  13. hi paul

just a bit of info on buying in thailand as well as other 3rd world....

irrespectively of the attractiveness of whatever....

pls ascertain that the seller does possess the title and UNDIVIDED ownership rights to sell or lease....

many chinese and japanese et al smart person have been taken to the cleaner over and over.... because the deal looks and sounds attractive and profitable....

but the seller has no complete nor absolute ownership rights to sell.... because of grantor's will restriction et al....

    buyer beware.... ok?

good luck and good fortune paul....

  14. the damages to thailand are multifacets at the moment....

but personally i believe.... the economic growth will continue after the current cleanup of the area is completed....

inasmuch as what sae daeng believed and did.... my deepest condolence to his surviving only daughter....

many thai do believe as i do.... that had the stop action been applied way back whence the redshirts began its unlawful gathering and demonstration.... many lives including those uninvolved bystanders would have been saved....

it only goes to show.... when a leader is inexperienced and weak in exercising constitutional power for whatever reasons.... the shrewd strives....

similarly, as in many thai families.... when parental control is lacking and inappropriate.... irrespective of wealth and geographical differences.... children takes over.... resulting in disharmony, discord and dismay.... to the nth degree....

  15. Sorry that was to read Countries not counties. haha

more than half of your stated reasons are really having everything to do with yourself....

your own personal choice of location and life style....

i have a hunch that there are some other unstated behind the scene very personal reasons....

but i do not wish to pry....

there are several of us who choose to spend our time and life in this imperfect country where mosquitoes are rampant.... corruption is almost everywhere.... even though it has improved tremendously during the last 10 yrs or so....

on the positive side.... clean-air outside of bkk.... forestry is still fresh and green.... fruits are abundant and inexpensive.... people outside of big towns are still very personable, if you treat them likewise.... my door is always open and no one steals anything from my residence as yet (knock on wood).... even though they like to borrow some tools and keep them a long time.... :D

and their driving skills and habits.... well, if i take this seriously enough.... i might just be thinking of, ehh.... no, not leaving thailand....

but moving further up the mountain range.... where i can still have my satellite channels.... watching the redshirts shouting contradictory monologues between and among themselves.... enjoying the premiere acting as a house father with rebellious children who are running and taking control over the household telling their parents what they can and cannot do.... to report to them whimsically.... :D

and now the parents are being told as when they can cohabit.... and i would probably stop watching.... when the parents agree to their children's polite request as when the parents should vacate the premise.... so the children can have some adult fun.... :)

i love to watch this live show.... and best of all.... it is real life and it is free.... :D

where is TOUGH LOVE.... when thailand needs it most.... :D

  16. i believe your best bet would be going to one of the sme banks in your area.

the sme banks provide low interest loans which are cheaper than those provided by commercial banking facilities.

the personnel in sme banks are quite well versed in various biz.

got a few seven digit loans from them. and i do hope your wife would have all the numerous necessary doc.

    good luck.

  17. To be honest, I find pronouns and ending particles pretty easy.

As for ending particles, there is no comparable word for them in English. However, when you speed English, you use tones to express emotion or add extra meaning. In Thai, you use ending particles. Just swap out those tones for the appropriate ending particle.

Browse the Thai language forums, Thai people love to use every possible ending particle you can imagine. It'll give you good practice. You'll also notice ครับ and ค่ะ each have a half dozen or so different variations, each dependent on the situation.

When I speak ending particles, I sorta just 'feel' it when I say it . . . if that makes any sense . . . The ending particle sorta fits my tone of voice when I speak. I actually think ending particles are fun to use, as one little syllable contains soooo much meaning.

    for example:

    อะไร? - What?

อะไรนะ? - I'm sorry I didn't catch that, can you say it one more time please?

อะไรว่ะ? - What the f&%k did you say?

    อะไรว๊ะ? - What the f&%k?

    อะไรอ้า? - What the heck?

There are like 100 more ending particles, this can go on forever . . .

As for the language school tests, they don't really mean much. Try out Thai elementary school workbooks to judge your true skill. If you've studied for only a year, you'll probably struggle with the 2nd grade book. I've studied 1.5 hours/day everyday for the last 6 years, and I struggle with the 5th grader books. But then again, the average 5th grader is 11 years old, so perhaps I'm not as dumb as I feel. Then when I look at the highschool level books . . . I can answer like 1 in 20 questions . . . so depressing . . . at my rate, probably 4 more years to reach highschool level . . .

while i am writing this.... there are plenty of interferences from other members of the family members.... LOL

and i can not focus very well....

อะไรอ้า? - <What the heck?> it is rather.... what on earth....? an exclamation

อะไรอะ? - What is it? used when speaking to someone our junior.... when speaking with someone equalled or senior.... it is more polite to use....

อะไรครับ/ค่ะ? - What is happening.... what is it....? what did you say pls....?

  18. I thought the "yellow shirts" were pro government ? If so ,why they dont accept the proposal of Mr Abbisit ? If there are clashes it will be because the "yellow shirts" have to worry about the result of the next election and they probably do their best to avoid such result . In the mean time who is suffering ? the majority of the people who only look for peace. That is a good image to give to the world, bombs there , grenades ,policeman killed etc .. That is so sad . Yellow against Red ,what next ?

the yellows are not pro govt...

    they are succinctly pro DEMOCRACY....

at present, apisit has not chosen to exercise his constitutional AND court granted rights to apply the laws evenly and equally.... to the reds as well as other citizen.... which include those injured and died--both from civilians and protectors of the law....

the yellows are asking for him to step aside because.... it appears that he is giving the reds some higher value of life.... than those civilians and military personnel who have been injured and some died....

apisit since some months ago, ordered those dealing with reds to handle the reds with care and tenderness.... but at the same time, apisit has not expressed much or did much to protect the non-participating civilians.... nor the military personnel....

the latter group appears to have lesser significance in apisit personal preference....

this is the issue at hand.... that yellows are asking for someone who would apply the law and order EQUALLY among and between reds, yellows and multicolors....

someone who values, treasures and protects every color with equal passion....
