  1. There Our Bren goes, talking it all up again -  "but we don't like being second-best"  - on Merseyside, that is, but seventh best overall...

    What's that, 3 seasons since '87?

  2. Think it's great me, I can't be arsed spending my time worrying who or what people are calling me. Things go against you , things go for you.

    Keep trucking. :-)

  3. What is 'living illegally' ? Was he a squatter ?

From my point of view he did not anything wrong, just a guy who does not live conform some manmade rules.

It seems he lived in a house that was not occupied by someone else.

He stayed on a piece on earth that should be free to use for all of us.

He loved herbes that were made by God, with the reason to use them to free our minds.

    This is not a criminal.

Somebody better remind RD that Woodstock ended 44 years ago...

What rock have you been living under?

Millions of people smoke the green.

  4. .

However if each of the 100 people each with their own money (yours if you give them in advance) buy 1 carton of ciggies, 4 cans of beer, and leave Cambodia individually, enter Thailand and then depart as they came, meeting up with you later away from the border and distributing their goodies I would not regard that as smuggling.

    Correct.

However, if "you" gave them money for the purpose of buying 1 carton each, but to give to you once back in Thailand, the ciggies would not be theirs'.

And if the intention was to evade customs duty, that is smuggling.

Edit: for longstebe - intention is exactly the point.

    The ciggies weren't his.

To evade the customs he would have had to hide all the ciggies or done a runner thru the border.

We're going around an around here.

  5. So what you are say then PN, if I got 100 people to go to the Cambodian Market ,buy 100 packets of ciggies and 400 cans of beer, pay for them and then distribute them amongst the 100 ,then get them to cross the boarder and then hand me over the good I wouldn't be smuggling.????

Whether it's 5 cartons of ciggies distribute amongst 5 people or whether its 50 ,100 or 500 its still the same.....Smuggling!!!

Rules are made to be broken and unluckily for Cardholder he was busted.

I like many others would like to say a big 'Thumbs-up ' for Cardholder posting about this indecent so others don't fall into breaking the tight rules on duty-free allowances and how they are allocated.  Posted Image

If that 1 person is carrying more than he/she is allowed over the border then that is classed as smuggling.

    Back to the facts......

The OP was NOT carrying more than his allowances.

You can go on all day about his intentions.

  6.      If the 'importer' had purchased the legal limit of duty free goods, then what he did with them after importation is immaterial. You seem to forget what was the INTENT of the OP when he bought the excess amount of cigarettes. HE bought them, then to avoid paying the excess duty distributed them amongst his family to pass through customs. He himself admits he made the mistake of collecting the cartons together whereupon he was caught with them. His INTENT was always to break the law.

I'd love to go for a bevvy with you, I'd be in for a great night.

    This is not a criminal.

Not a criminal to you in that you believe that he did nothing morally wrong.  But he broke immigration the law.  A law that is in place for good reasons- one reason is to help prevent criminal activities by people who do very wrong things.  Herb?  Some people every bit as God fearing as you believe that using such substances in one's body is a sin.  How do you know that he "loved" the herb?  For all that you know the man is an alcoholic and uses marijuana to soften his hangovers so that he can continue drinking himself to death.  I do not think that the man should be severely penalized but neither is he the sweet spirit that you portray with your sanctimonious prattle.

Get a grip lad, just listen to yourself.

I was almost agreeing with you until you brought up that 'God' guy from the fairytale stories.

Whatever way you wanna describe it, I don't care. But maybe you should try some of those herbs (or ayahuasca or mushrooms or whatever) yourself and might get another idea, LOL

Drugs are for mugs. God is for fraud.

Then there's 1000's of us (farangs) who are mugs.

  10. Its ironic really, hundreds and hundreds of threads complaining about the visa rules over here and soon as one guy overstays, most jump on his back. I'm sure there's plenty of guys who have thought about it, especially the ones under 50.

I hate a snitch. He likes a bit of grass though.

  12. ^^ We were sitting at a red light today, saw a group of youngsters on motorbikes with no helmets speed away from the junction. There was a police box there. One policeman was getting irritated with this, saw another group of youngsters with no helmets on waiting at the red light across the junction. He went back to the police box, got a heavy stick, at least a meter in length and at least 30 centimeters in diameter, and proceeded to walk across the junction toward these youngsters and pointed his stick at them, to pull over, they did. The light turned green and as I proceeded through the junction he was busy dealing with them. This was in outer Bangkok though.

    30 centimetres in diameter????

    That's about a foot.

  13. Just saw the news on TV3.

It was reported that passengers informed the driver that the brakes appear not to work properly - the driver choose not to look into the matter and kept on driving.

One has to wonder why anyone who suspected the brakes were faulty stayed on the bus? I for one would have asked to get off as soon as I was aware.

One also has to wonder...how would the passengers know the brakes were not working properly?

    That's what I was thinking.

  14. I can't believe some people on here, moaning at not getting discount over a period of 2 days in a already cheap form of transport. We're so hard done by brigade. Sent from my Nexus 4 using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app

It's the principle of it. You don't 'get' that?

Its quite sad if this grates on you.

  15. Simple - if you have man boobs, leave your shirt on, for the sake of others who want to keep their lunches down...

You prefer to look at men with nice pecs do you?

Why not I personally like looking at good things. I recall last year seeing a guy easily in his late sixties or seventies in Silom. His appearance was quite immaculate with perfect dress sense and he looked quite distinguished. Yesterday while having my breakfast a young Thai lady was at the servery helping herself to some food. I could not help but admire the way she was dressed and her very attractive appearance. Now imagine being confronted with some huge ass with the minimum of clothing, exposing all of natures wear and tear, surely it is far better in that case to wear something that minimizes the visual impact.

Its all in the eye of the beholder.

  16. Saw one two days ago taking off his T-shirt on his way to a Soi Nana beer place.

His tits were bigger than any of the bargirls sitting there.

He looked like a right royal slob .... fat and drunk too.

But don't know his nationality .... didn't get close enough to hear him talk.

Perfect example of the "Lager lout" Boozer and Loser Fraternity.

And how does that effect you?
