Efforts Continue to Lift Alcohol Ban on Thai Trains and Boost Tourism

I remember well those days when taking the night-train Chiang Mai - Bangkok and back was a nice experience. The so-called Restaurant Car today is an abomination. Plastic seats, "Food" packed in plastic with no taste and light so bright it hurts your eyes. I guess it's "progress". -

In the 18 years I’ve been here I’ve done what you recommend, except the plastic bag under the seat. Never had a problem. -

Most Thais don't exercise their dogs on leashes. In all my years in Thailand I have seen mostly foreigners walking their dogs on a leash, almost never a Thai person. -
Combined car+motorcycle Thai driver's license not possible?
jchfriis replied to farrol's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
I suggest you take your passport and all other documents you can imagine pertains to driving licenses. Go to the DLT office and ask them what you need to do. They are probably most helpful. At least they are in Chiang Mai. Then you’ll get it from the horse’s mouth. When I got my licenses (2007) I could not use my Norwegian license as it is not in English. I had no desire to travel to Bangkok for a translation, so the lady suggested I take the test. I went back the next and by 3 pm I had both licenses. The test is ridiculously easy. -

A couple of things come to my mind here. First of all. You always check a gun, no matter who gives it to you. You hold the weapon, you are responsible. Second, why doesn’t he just reveal what he thinks happened instead of sending out a “Trailer” -

Much better would be a campaign that tells tourist what a bad idea it is to rent a motorbike in Thailand and include the stats of deaths on motorbikes. Friends og mine from the home country asked med to show their two teenage children around Chiang Mai. The first thing the kids asked about was about renting a motorbike. Luckily I managed to convince them not to. Even if they had a license and some experience, which they didn't, I would advice against it. -

Was the 650 you traded in of the same brand as the 1000 you bought? If so maybe then it is easier to get a good deal than if you change brands.

I can also recommend Nana Bakery. They are great. Nana Bakery is French. If you're looking for German style bread you can buy bread from Jo's Bakery at Rimping. I bought a Farm house bread once many years ago because I needed some to make croutons. Used 2 slices and left the rest in its original plastic wrapping on the kitchen counter. When after 3 weeks it still looked like new I realised what a mistake I had made. An almost impossible advice to follow is what a wise man said: Never eat anything that comes out of a factory.
