Trudeau Blasts US Tariffs, Vows Canada Will Stand Strong
spidermike007 replied to Social Media's topic in World News
Canada is a great nation. A gorgeous nation. The 10th largest economy in the world. Very vibrant. Very productive. It has its share of problems, but all countries do. For Americans to be lecturing Canadians about the greatness of the US, and the sad state of Canada, at this stage of the game is a bit sad and pathetic. -
This sums him up perfectly: Someone asked "Why do some British people not like Donald Trump?" Nate White, an articulate and witty writer from England, wrote this magnificent response: "A few things spring to mind. Trump lacks certain qualities which the British traditionally esteem. For instance, he has no class, no charm, no coolness, no credibility, no compassion, no wit, no warmth, no wisdom, no subtlety, no sensitivity, no self-awareness, no humility, no honour and no grace - all qualities, funnily enough, with which his predecessor Mr. Obama was generously blessed. So for us, the stark contrast does rather throw Trump’s limitations into embarrassingly sharp relief. Plus, we like a laugh. And while Trump may be laughable, he has never once said anything wry, witty or even faintly amusing - not once, ever. I don’t say that rhetorically, I mean it quite literally: not once, not ever. And that fact is particularly disturbing to the British sensibility - for us, to lack humour is almost inhuman. But with Trump, it’s a fact. He doesn’t even seem to understand what a joke is - his idea of a joke is a crass comment, an illiterate insult, a casual act of cruelty.Trump is a troll. And like all trolls, he is never funny and he never laughs; he only crows or jeers. And scarily, he doesn’t just talk in crude, witless insults - he actually thinks in them. His mind is a simple bot-like algorithm of petty prejudices and knee-jerk nastiness. There is never any under-layer of irony, complexity, nuance or depth. It’s all surface. Some Americans might see this as refreshingly upfront. Well, we don’t. We see it as having no inner world, no soul. And in Britain we traditionally side with David, not Goliath. All our heroes are plucky underdogs: Robin Hood, Dick Whittington, Oliver Twist. Trump is neither plucky, nor an underdog. He is the exact opposite of that. He’s not even a spoiled rich-boy, or a greedy fat-cat. He’s more a fat white slug. A Jabba the Hutt of privilege. And worse, he is that most unforgivable of all things to the British: a bully. That is, except when he is among bullies; then he suddenly transforms into a snivelling sidekick instead. There are unspoken rules to this stuff - the Queensberry rules of basic decency - and he breaks them all. He punches downwards - which a gentleman should, would, could never do - and every blow he aims is below the belt. He particularly likes to kick the vulnerable or voiceless - and he kicks them when they are down. So the fact that a significant minority - perhaps a third - of Americans look at what he does, listen to what he says, and then think 'Yeah, he seems like my kind of guy’ is a matter of some confusion and no little distress to British people, given that:* Americans are supposed to be nicer than us, and mostly are.* You don't need a particularly keen eye for detail to spot a few flaws in the man. This last point is what especially confuses and dismays British people, and many other people too; his faults seem pretty bloody hard to miss. After all, it’s impossible to read a single tweet, or hear him speak a sentence or two, without staring deep into the abyss. He turns being artless into an art form; he is a Picasso of pettiness; a Shakespeare of bull<deleted>. His faults are fractal: even his flaws have flaws, and so on ad infinitum. God knows there have always been stupid people in the world, and plenty of nasty people too. But rarely has stupidity been so nasty, or nastiness so stupid.

Your are lecturing a fully compromised parrot, one who simply repeats slogans, without having anything to back it up. -
US Halts Military Aid to Ukraine Amid Push for Peace Talks
spidermike007 replied to Social Media's topic in World News
Trump is a childish clown who has very little understanding of geopolitics and is in the pocket of Putin on some level none of us really know exactly what Putin has on them but there's no doubt that he has something. And then there's just his simple love for despots and dictators. Trump has betrayed every ally America has ever had, and he is diminishing the US daily, contrary to what he says. He's making America smaller and less significant every month his pathetic self remains in office. -
Trudeau Blasts US Tariffs, Vows Canada Will Stand Strong
spidermike007 replied to Social Media's topic in World News
Trump is going to pay a huge price for his highly ignorant trade wars, which are a big tax on the American people. There's only one stat you have to be concerned with. Canada supplies about 60% of the crude oil and 99% of the natural gas that the United States imports. Next to that the US gets a huge amount of its rare earth and other minerals from Canada. Without that the US is dead in the water and with that, the increasedd tariffs amount to a spike in inflation, and increased costs for the American consumer. The same applies to Mexico and China. The US cannot live without them, and Trump supporters will soon see how costly his extremely destructive and reckless behavior really is. -
Trump will do or say anything to deflect from the fact that his poll numbers are dropping his support is dropping and people are reacting to his unique brand of mayhem, economic destruction, chaos, and world wrecking. Republican voters are speaking out at these Town Halls in a very angry fashion, as they are highly offended that the man that they voted for is causing them to lose their jobs, increasing the cost of goods, and lowering world security. It's pretty simple really. They are hugely disappointed with both him and Musk.

Many people are thinking at this point in time that in order for peace to happen in this world Trump needs to be impeached or exiled, along with Johnson, Hegseth, Vance, and many of the other administration fools. Those guys are all blazing idiots and Zelensky is a hero.

Now I don't believe the YouTubers after this
spidermike007 replied to georgegeorgia's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
First of all how do you fall in love with a YouTuber, how do you become that big a fan, and how do you start to believe the nonsense that's on YouTube? There are some accurate videos, but there's an awful lot of nonsense, and one has to presume that the majority of what's on there is false. I like YouTube for informational videos on how to repair stuff, but in terms of the podcasts and the newscasts, they're all very highly slanted and I question a lot of what's on there. You have to with all social media these days. -
Thai Govt Rejects Poll Showing Public Dissatisfaction
spidermike007 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
If we don't like it, we will reject it! Don't say anything bad about us, just praise us and tell us how good a job we are doing. It's true we don't do anything to benefit the Thai people, and it's true we only work to serve the elite and the oligarchs, but don't mention that, please. -
Shock discovery! Zelensky owns a suit!!
spidermike007 replied to Hanaguma's topic in Political Soapbox
I love the fact that he did not wear a suit to the Oval Office. I think Trump and Vance deserve more disrespect, and frankly I don't think he was interested in doing that mineral deal, as it was a terrible deal for Ukraine. Though I think Trump and Vance intended to set up Zelensky, I think in reality it was the other way around Zelensky set them up, baited them, and they fell for it hook line and sinker, and made themselves look like petty fools and bullies around the world. Which is what they are. Hopefully he can garner enough support in Europe and elsewhere, so he just doesn't need the US anymore, as they have become a less reliable ally, and their influence throughout the world is declining by the day. The other aspect of this equation that no Republican seems to want to discuss is that Musk dresses like a bit of a slob, yet? -
Very typical, this is something to be expected from a guy like this, and from this very hapless administration. Russia continues their hacking and cyber operations against us, and we likely let the Chinese and the North Koreans and the Iranians have comfort in knowing that we're not pursuing them, we're just letting them act against our interests. That is just who Don is.

China Rebukes Critics of Thailand's Uyghur Repatriation Decision
spidermike007 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
It's a fascinating thing on this forum, whenever somebody asks for a link it's typically because they have never bothered to do any research on their own. Just do a simple search like "organ harvesting in China" and you will come up with 200 different reports from multiple organizations on this very topic. -
Well there's no question that driving carefully will help to save lives, including your own. However you just can't account for the other guy here, and I constantly see people making errors in judgment that absolutely boggle the mind, and one has to be on the constant lookout for these utterly reckless fools. What are the inherent risks involved in piloting my bike, car or truck onto the safety lane of a major highway, in the wrong direction, with big trucks coming at me at 100kph? Or onto a lane of a major highway, with oncoming traffic going 120kph? Is it worth sacrificing my life, or my ability to walk for the rest of my life? How will my death affect my kids? Hold on, what about the lives of my wife, kids and sister who are in the vehicle with me, and I am responsible for their safety. Wow. That would be a big loss. An entire family. Maybe I should act like an adult, and be prudent and careful. What if I waited four seconds for the highway lane to be completely clear, rather than just barge into it now, and risk everything?

US Economy Races Ahead While UK Struggles to Keep Pace
spidermike007 replied to Social Media's topic in World News
Though GDP per capita is not a flawless measure of individual prosperity. Ha. This is highly misleading information as the cost of living in the US has increased to such a dramatic extent. Never before have Americans struggled like they are right now (except during the great depression). Many have two to three jobs and are barely making ends meet, the homeless population is surging like never before, houseless population (which comprises those who choose not to rent anymore and would rather live in their vehicles, than pay $3000 for a bungalow, or small apartment in major cities) is estimated to be as high as 5 million people. Unless you own a home free and clear in America these days, or are earning over $400,000 a year, you are basically screwed. The quality of life in America has declined so dramatically the nation is barely recognizable to those of us who go back and forth. So these kind of studies are almost completely useless. And with these ridiculous new Trump policies it's only going to get worse. America is on a precipitous decline and these new policies are only going to exacerbate that decline.- 83 replies

There's no question that the party needs to be completely disbanded, completely reorganized, and completely rebranded. It's a pretty easy thing to do with this point when compared to the absolute fools that are in control at the moment. The trick is to give it some time as there's no question that the GOP will begin to unravel, with falling poll numbers, as people start to realize just how destructive Trump's policies are.

Inside Thailand's Market Boom: Largest Investment in a Decade
spidermike007 replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
I think a lot of foreign investment that might be taking place in Thailand now is about trying to avoid the super dumb and arrogant tariffs that the US is imposing throughout the world. Thailand produced products would likely be at a lower tax rate when imported into the ignorant US, which is currently being run by very ignorant fools. -
As if the dangers on the roads here needed to be highlighted. The primary reason is the toy police force. Nobody, and I mean nobody takes these guys seriously. There is absolutely nothing in the way of a deterrent here, and both the local governments, the central government and the police do not take traffic safety seriously. Not even one iota. The safety of the public means less than zero to the small men in charge here. Nothing. They show that on a daily basis. They will not do a thing. Why? They do not care about the people one iota. Not the common people. Not the average pleb. No way. Never have cared, and may never care in the future. It is all about protecting the elite, the super wealthy, those that are connected, and those in power. The rest of the population? They do not matter. The ex-pat community does not matter. And the police will not get involved unless an accident has already occurred. There is no prevention. None. The idea of getting the police more involved, is an interesting one, and it would be an effective one. But, the issue is money. They are grossly underpaid, and until the government steps up, and spends the trillion baht on updating the police equipment, and paying each cop a living wage, it is not going to happen. Until then, they will just work the franchise. The only way to survive here on the road, is to be patient, have eyes in the back of your head, drive with caution, and always, and I mean always watch out of the other guy. Chances are, he does not have much driving skill, nor patience, nor reason, nor common sense. You cannot be too careful on the road here. Especially considering that the toy police offer no traffic safety, prevention, enforcement of the law, or concern toward the prosecution of very reckless drivers.

Thais Express Discontent with Government and PM in New Poll
spidermike007 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I don't believe that is correct, Move Forward won more votes and seats, however Pita was disqualified due to the fabrication of the share issue. He is the leader that the people wanted. And he is the one that would have been most capable of leading Thailand in a forward direction. -
Trump has engaged in multiple failures over his first six weeks in office, and he'll do anything at this point to deflect and distract people as his poll numbers continue to drop, even amongst his supporters. The man is simply in no position to lecture anyone about morality as he is the most morally bankrupt president America's has ever had, and he makes Richard Nixon look like an honorable Boy Scout.

I watched the entire 46 minute interview and I do have to admit that Zelensky was unusually direct and unusually critical of Trump. However nothing that he said was untrue and what he said was quite accurate. The problem was that Trump is not accustomed to being confronted and though Trump and Vance likely set up the oval office interview as a way to ambush Zelensky, in the end Zelensky ended up ambushing Trump and Vance. He made them both lose their cool, and they looked utterly foolish on the world stage. It was probably not smart for him to mouth off to Trump like that, as he knew it wouldn't end well, but my presumption is that he had no interest in giving away half of Ukraine's mineral wealth which is worth over a trillion dollars, in exchange for the repayment of $130 billion dollars worth debt. It was a very bad deal for Ukraine and I think Zelensky played it smart. He is likely garnering tremendous sympathy around the world and my guess is that the EU and other nations will step in and take the place of the US in terms of aid to Ukraine. In return us influence is diminishing by the day, but that's just big Don isn't it? The goon squad are in the process of engaging in damage repair right now, by using really ridiculous PR like the criticism of the Zelensky's outfit disrespecting the oval office, and other garbage like that. The bottom line is the White House is embarrassed regardless of what they say, and they look like a petty little amateur squad in the eyes of the entire world.

China Rebukes Critics of Thailand's Uyghur Repatriation Decision
spidermike007 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
While it is true that many other countries do practice similar types of repatriation, there are very few countries that harvest the organs of those who have been returned, or lock them up in very harsh concentration camp type conditions. The very heinous CCP is quite unique in that regard, they kind of set the standard for mistreatment of those that don't tow the party line, and those that don't believe in the Han traditions and homogenous way of life. -
British Tourist Knocked Out by Pattaya Club Bouncer
spidermike007 replied to webfact's topic in Pattaya News
All we know is that according to the video the guy attempted to push the security guard, that's no reason to hit somebody so hard that you knock them down. There are a dozen other things that this guy could have done to de-escalate the situation, and he should have been trained in the art of de-escalation. Just a swift slap across the face could have worked. Anytime you punch somebody hard enough to knock them to the ground you run the risk of killing them. You just never know how that head is going to land on the pavement, and death is an occasional occurrence, once that happens. So you could say this was attempted murder in the broadest sense. In the most literal sense it was sheer stupidity and a massive level of overreaction, which deserves severe punishment to both the security guard and the owner of the club.
