  1. This is such an anomoly. It hardly ever happens, and is likely due to too much publicity, and the courts and administration deciding they have to make an example of these guys. The RTP, customs, and immigration seems to have been created with a status quo from the government. We will NOT pay you a living wage, but you have a franchise, and the limit of your income is based solely on your own creativity and initiative, and you will always be protected. Is that not the case? We all know these 5 guys were the rare exception to the rule.
  2. Well, it is quite hard not to hate this fool. He is such delicious bait. He sets himself up for humiliation on a daily basis. He just cannot help himself. He behaves like a carnival huckster, and a juvenile delinquent. Watching him is so much fun.
  3. They shut down the economy due to covid. But, burning cane is ok. Can't they see the effect it is having on the air? Do they care one iota? Don't the leaders live here too? Why are they MIA? Why don't the "do nothing guys" do something for a change? When the crop burning starts to kill the population, and lowers the quality of life for those of us who don't die, isn't it time to take action? We just don't need the sugar. Shut down this toxic, heinous industry. Lock up the farmers. Sieze their land. Do whatever it takes. The problem is not only the politicians, but also the people, a part of the population, who do not seem to care: https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2023/4/12/how-chiang-mai-became-the-worlds-most-polluted-city Great article. At least they state the truth. It is field burning and predatory agricultural practices, more than wildfires, that is to blame. And the army won't touch the giant growers. Perhaps a more creative and far more drastic approach would work? This issue is not just in Bangkok. This is the worst day so far this season. The problem just keeps getting worse, and is compounded with the fact that we have a Do Nothing PM now. All talk, and no action. DNS. Do nothing Sretta. A huge part of the problem is the incessant burning of sugar. Until they show the will to face up to Big Agra, nothing will change. Just more schemes about reducing the burning of incense, and other ways to deflect the blame in a cowardly manner. The real numbers are reflected in the AQI. It is up near 200 today in Bangkok, and dangerously high in many other areas. If China could address their bad air quality, why can't Thailand? They talk about fires. Most are self created by these delinquent, self serving, callous, mindless, unconscious sugar farmers. If the sugar refiners created a system to confirm the crops were not burned, things could change overnight. NOBODY in a position of power seems to care, and all the moral authority the nation used to have is gone, baby gone.
  4. Nothing like an $800 million smile and do nothing policies to attract tourism.
  5. What on earth are you going on about? Of course, I go to my barber every two weeks. What does covid have to do with anything? It's gone baby gone. I never give it a thought until someone like you mentions it.
  6. Threats of blacklisting and visa manipulation kept Thai workers silent, trapping them in a vicious cycle of debt and exploitation. Really? Nothing to do with the apathy of the Thai govt? One might expect more from these nations but greed is universal. People of a lower nature exist everywhere and they will do just about anything for money. I always knew there was something very dark about berries and I could never quite put my finger on it. Especially those wild and brambley blackberries.
  7. I completely disagree, I've met a lot of expats here who are exceptional people, smart, funny, accomplished, successful, and engaging. Granted you're not going to meet them sitting at a local bar drinking beer at noon. If I had some sort of expect club in my area I think I would attend. I'd certainly be open to the idea, why not give it a try?
  8. That is a good way of putting it, there is no question that Thailand is moving backwards on a dozen different levels at this point in time. Two very regressive administrations in a row with army participation is ensuring that. As expats it has a very limited direct effect upon us, but my heart sure does go out to the average Thai.
  9. Could you please explain how expats in Thailand are sacrificing their lives, or are you just engaging in nonsensical rambling?
  10. Devotees do tend to get excited when their Master speaks. It is a big deal for them. Utter suplication is both required and demanded of them.
  11. Offended by sex, prostitution and working girls? Sorry, you got the wrong guy.
  12. It could also have something to do with the lack of verile behavior on the part of Gen Z. I consider them to be the weakest generation in the history of mankind.
  13. A good friend of mine recently flew on Malaysia air and had a nightmare when trying to check in with overweight baggage. He ended up having to pay almost $1,000 for overweight baggage which was more than the cost of his ticket. To me that's pure insanity and absolute gouging. For that reason alone I would never consider Malaysia Air again in this lifetime.
  14. Let us hope Nathon gets locked up for 40 years or so, where it is likely he will make alot of "close friends" in prison. He deserves that.
  15. This is such unbelievable nonsense. Little about the economy here is improving. There are an infinite number of issues that need to be addressed, and the nation has not recovered from 9 years of hapless leadership under the last group of fools, and the results of "The Prayuth Decimation".
  16. I've seen some recent studies that have China's population dropping to 650 million by the year 2060, multiple predictions also have shown Thailand's population to drop to 35 million within that same period. The people are just getting smart and many are deciding not to have children, or to have one child at the most. This is not a great time to be bringing children into the world, and people are wising up. I don't think they're going to be able to reverse that trend. And it's a good thing overall, though some pain will be felt, no doubt. World population needs to drop. Though I like kids, I've never had the desire to own any. One hour with one is plenty. And I feel that deciding not to have children was likely single-handedly the greatest, wisest, and most astute decision that I've made in this lifetime! I have not missed them for a nanosecond, and I never will. It's a personal choice, we all have to make these kind of decisions. 98% choose to go the conventional route and have children. For me children were never an option. And I'm infinitely thankful for that.
  17. The few times I have flown with them, it has been disappointing. They are now a marginal airline. Baggage retrieval can be very slow. Service can be surly. No thanks. Will stick with a real airline, that has pride in what they are doing, like EVA, where I get great service.
  18. Why the surprise? As I said recently, this was always going to happen. It was planned, and was a quid pro quo with the spectacularly toxic and corrupt army. When his party capitulated, dropped any semblance of morality or ethics, and decided to no longer represent their constituents, by allowing the army continued control, it was a done deal. Thaksin sacrificed the future of the nation, for his own freedom. It would appear to be a good indicator of just who the man is. Yingluck will likely return too. The greedy army can continue feeding at the trough. It is always about money and the power for them. The useless institution known as the Thai army, is a boil on the face of the nation. Let's see what happens with the senators. The army is likely maneuvering now to extend their terms. The moral rot continues. Any moral authority the nation once had, is gone baby gone. Fortunately, little of this affects us directly. For now.
  19. Anyone but Trump. I would not vote for him under any circumstances. If he is the best the GOP can do, no thanks. He is a horrific man, and a terrible choice.
  20. Believe me, if I had a decent Republican alternative, I would switch. Don Don is not that. He is nowhere near decent, and never has been. And he is an awful leader. No thanks. I would pick Vin Diesel over Trump.
  21. Yes, absolutely. But, in a more targeted manner. Not in the callous Netanyahu manner. There has to be a better way, than wiping out most of Gaza.

  23. Honestly we looked everywhere and we just couldn't find the footage, we don't know what happened, it's a very high-end system and it's on 24/7 but that particular point in time just disappeared. Our doormen are very well behaved so we have no idea what could have possibly taken place. In reality bouncers and doormen should be held to a higher standard and penalties should be tripled for any crimes that they commit while on duty, so I say lock them up for a very very long time.
  24. I would say the IDF has about as much credibility as Netanyahu himself at this point. I would not believe a word a single one of their officers or commanders said, they are engaging in genocide and they're just making stuff up as they go along. I guess it's hard to sleep at night knowing that you're slaughtering innocent women and children. Before you even comment know that I am not a sympathizer of Hamas on any level, I despise terrorists. But, I also despise Bibi. He has become an extremist. I hate all extremists.
  25. He was likely the worst president when it came to the environment since Richard Nixon, he literally wanted to demolish the National Park and National Forest system. It is the most astonishing park system on the planet and typical of his nature he had no respect for. Frankly, I doubt if he's ever been to a national park in his lifetime. I think he despises the outdoors if they're not golf courses. That is just who the man is.
