I need help and suggestions what to do next
spidermike007 replied to Puppa's topic in General Topics
If I remember correctly you said that you were new here. There's one thing you have to understand about Thailand, the police here rarely engage in law enforcement, they are individual franchisees, and they are engaged in personal enrichment. So if you report something like this they have very little motivation to follow it up. Typically you can pay a policeman to follow up on a crime, but in this particular case there's not enough money involved, so your best bet is to inquire with Western Union, and see if they have any ideas. Forget about the local franchisees (police). -
Sounds like they are describing Sretta to an absolute T. A man completely devoid of moral principles, and ethics, who would not recognize truth if it bit him on the toe. A morally bankrupt megalomaniac who is only interested in power and money.

I couldn't agree more, I think back in the day there were some people that were relatively noble (Kennedy comes to mind) who had good intentions, and really wanted you be of service to their country. These days the professional attracts puddle scum, and megalomaniacs, because a good, righteous person simply would not want to subject themselves and their family to the nasty elements within the game of politics.

No, the police will not do anything it's very difficult to trace people online, they're hiding behind VPNs and they may even be offshore. You are the one who is responsible for protecting yourself and your own money, you find out about somebody who's advertising online, you then go online and look them up, you look up the name of the resort, you get whatever information you need, you look at reviews, and then you make an informed decision. Anytime you send money to an unknown party with no references, no reviews, and no online information, you're just giving away your money. Let us go. You got scammed. Game over. You are lucky. A good friend of mine just got scammed for 170,000 baht last week for some stupid online music app where he thought was really going to make money. -
There's no question that many of his lawyers advised him that his big mouth will get him into trouble, he has zero control over what he says, and he just starts spouting nonsense. That zaniness might work with his devotees, but it will not work well on the witness stand. Lock him up!

New minimum wages are too low and need review : PM
spidermike007 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
There's a reason why massive numbers of the youth are abandoning Thailand for greener pastures, there's not a lot of potential here unless you're a very entrepreneurial or you're in high level management. Possibly those that were smart enough to get a degree in structural engineering, the medical profession and some other very specialized fields have the potential to do well. -
Euthanizing your dog at home yourself

That's a tough situation, my heart goes out to you. I can't imagine that any choice you make is going to be an easy one. But, it is best for the pooch. -
When you think about it, this is a country that has spent two decades gorging itself on reality TV, and this is the same country that has made Barbie a huge hit. Having high expectations of the US is not reasonable. Hence, Trump as the most popular choice. He fits right into the obnoxious reality TV persona. Doesn't matter that he was the 43rd worst president in history. Doesn't matter that Xi, Kim, Putin and MBS made him look like a bloated, inexperienced schoolgirl. Bush Jr. was an elegant statesman, and Nixon was a super honest boy scout in comparison.

Illegal Bangkok Bar Raided, 100-Plus Drug Users Found
spidermike007 replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
People can't just go out to a bar or a club and enjoy a few drinks anymore, half the crowd was doing drugs? What on Earth is going on, what are these people thinking, why are their lives so incredibly unfulfilling? -
Buy a pressure guage. And then either buy a bicycle pump, or go to a gas station and fill the tires to the exact specs. I do it weekly. Makes the bike far safer to drive.

I was a supporter of Pete, and thought that he had a real future, until he completely dropped the ball with the airline fiasco. After offering the airlines tens of billions of dollars in relief money during covid, as soon as covid was finished the airlines began gouging the public like never before. Did Pete step up as the head of the Department of Transportation? No he didn't say a peep, he was Silent Pete, he was complicit, and only after people raised a huge fuss did he finally level a couple of very mild criticisms toward the airlines. He forever lost all credibility during that period.

Thai PM pledges support for a “People’s Constitution”
spidermike007 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
How ironic that this promise is coming from a man who was not elected, but rather appointed by the powers that be, and the guys who pull the puppet strings. He will say anything, his insincerity knows no bounds. Woe is Thailand with this kind of leadership.- 24 replies

Bangkok's Air Pollution is extremely high today
spidermike007 replied to steven100's topic in Air Pollution in Thailand
This is what happens when the authorities promise everything, and do absolutely nothing. The farmers must be stopped from burning, and yet nothing is exactly what the leadership does. The do nothing men. They just don't seem to care. -
He was a terrible PM before, and there was certainly no chance of him becoming a good one now. Thailand needs real talent, and needs to stop choosing mediocrity. Does the nation want to move forward, or is it so accustomed to moving backwards that it knows no other direction?

Illegal Bangkok Bar Raided, 100-Plus Drug Users Found
spidermike007 replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
He is such a blazing genius that they had to give him two positions, his creativity, his insights, his vision, his leadership and noble example, his ability to create a bright future for his nation knows no bounds. This glowing mind will be able to fix every problem that Thailand faces. And besides, look what this guy did as Health Minister under the previous administration, he was such a shining light, he handled covid swiftly and effectively, he chose the best vaccine available, and made it easy to obtain for everybody. He is a saint. -
There is no limit to the insincerity that this man possesses. He comes from one of the most powerful families in Thailand, who have spent decades keeping the educational system poor, so that they can continue can continue to pay low wages, and now he wants to reform the system? This is one of those "PR only proclamations", that will be forgotten in two weeks.

Utterly horrendous choices, the American people should be given better alternatives, Biden should quit the campaign and be replaced with someone younger who has a better shot. The Biden/Harris ticket is horrendous, some like Biden, nobody likes Harris and Biden is way too old. Trump is a terrible choice, he's way too corrupt, a wannabe fascist, and morally bankrupt. Perhaps the days of decent people running for that office in America are long gone, perhaps the nation is long gone.

I want my booze, I need my booze, if you're not going to give me my booze I am going to commit an act of violence against you, because I know I look like a man, and I smell like a man, but actually I'm 13 years old emotionally, I never developed into a an adult, and when I get thwarted I do really really stupid stuff. So deny me at your own peril!

COVID-19 infections rising, public advised to wear face masks
spidermike007 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Yes you are correct and you understand even more when you realize that the Big Pharma mafia not only influences government, it more or less controls government, controls the CDC, controls the FDA and controls the WHO. Which makes them all spectacularly corrupt. -
I hear what you're saying, and in theory what you're saying makes total sense. However, what you are hinting towards is a total crackdown on the levels of corruption that exists within Thai society at the core. Which means immigration, customs, the police and other government officials. I don't see that ever happening at least in our lifetime, and the bottom line is we really don't know how this is going to shake out, so at this point in time I am not assuming the worst, I am assuming a lack of efficiency, I am assuming a lack of organization, I am assuming a lack of budget, and all the other things that I've seen in the dozen plus years that I've been here.

They are typically attracted to other women, it would be the equivalent of a dyke in the US, except here I find alot of them much prettier, they just go out of their way to hide their beauty. I find some of them beautiful anyway, and I wish they were in into men!

I am a big premium wine drinker in the US, and I enjoy very fine wines with some wealthy friends, who are generous enough to share world class wines with me when I'm back there. And I drink really great Russian River Valley single vineyard pinots, and CDP's on my own, which are incredible. But there's nothing like that to be found here and if you can find it here the pricing is just silly. I see wines here for 1,000 Baht that cost $4 in the US, so getting good wine here is very difficult.
