Hi, what is about the housing market in Pattaya?
spidermike007 replied to parafareno's topic in Pattaya
May be best to rent for now. It is a good renters market. I think a major correction is long overdue, worldwide. It is already starting in the US. Prices here will likely drop significantly, once the helium begins leaking from the over inflated balloon. -
Did you negotiate a daily rate in advance? If not, that was mistake number one. If so, then pay her and move on. Leave her in the dust. Second, it might be healthy of you to not consider her "my gal". She is a rental. It sounds high to me. If she is just trying to scam you, your only option is to leave where you are now, change your phone nunber, and move on.

I don't like them at all. They are way too big, they guzzle gas like a drunken sailor guzzlers beer, and they seem to be designed for people with extra money, who are less practical. Tell the wife NO!

Why isn't every male in the UK living in thailand?

Denial never changes anything one iota. Believe what you want. Don't do any research. -
What would you tell your 18yo self?
spidermike007 replied to Sparktrader's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Buy land in downtown Scottsdale. Buy some Microsoft and Apple stock. Notes to self: Buy some Bitcoin at $1, in 2011. Buy some ETH in 2015, at 65 cents. Buy Palm Springs condos in 1995, and buy Vancouver condos in 2000. Get out of America, as soon as you make your first 5 mil. Could have, should have, would have. -

As a Democrat, I can say I agree with you. Though the ex prez just got lucky, with the economy, and the artificially low interest rates, combined with trillions in Covid aid, which helped not only to keep the economy cranking on steroids, but contributed significantly to the runaway inflation we are seeing now. I saw it coming. It was like watching flight of the Hindenberg. -

I could cite these all day long. And the nunbers were only barely better pre covid. All studies agree between 50 and 70% of all Americans are struggling financially. 70% of Americans have lived paycheck to paycheck at some point during the pandemic, including 48% who are living paycheck to paycheck currently. 50% of those currently living with the effects of long COVID are also presently living paycheck to paycheck. 71% of families still have not recovered financially from the COVID-19 pandemic. https://www.realestatewitch.com/financial-struggles-during-pandemic-2022/ -
The cannabis debate continues, but can Thailand control it?
spidermike007 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Again, another strange opinion. Do you recall the nature of the discussion? It was about ganga. Quite different than yaba and meth, in the way it effects the system. Or course drugs cause mayhem. Ganga? Rarely. -
Woke and PC are being used by both sides to wage a cultural war. As a Democrat, I think it is worse on the left. It is being weaponized. Careers are being destroyed over honest, sensible statements, in my opinion. I don't like it, and it is driving me away from being able to relate to the party, as a moderate.

A little smooching and hugging, was as far as they got. I had a rule when I was dating back in the US. No action by the 3rd date, and see ya! She had some excuse like a recent breakup and she needed to go slow. But, the dinners were great, and so was the fine wine! -

You have some strange opinions. Sure, there will likely be some accidents. But, compared to alcohol related deaths? A mere pinhead. -

Very true. Right now in America around 70% of the population are really struggling to make ends meet. The top 10% are doing great. The next 10% are doing quite well. Then the 70th to 80th percentile are living well, but barely saving anything. The last 70%? And that is the US. -
Confusion reigns as EXAT announce new speed limits on expressways
spidermike007 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I would love to see the nearly non existent highway patrol begin to enforce the minimum speed limits in the fast lane on highways, with real penalties. Word would get around quickly, and the dangerous and highly disrespectful truck drivers who hog the fast lanes, even when they are not passing, would be put down a notch. They are incredibly annoying and take alof of the joy out of road trips here. -
Malaysia Detains Thais Who Tested Positive For Marijuana
spidermike007 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
What can one say? Possession is one thing. Penalizing someone for smoking ganga recently is beyond egregious. Hopefully word will get around, and Malaysia will be wearing an ugly black eye over this kind of overly puritanical behavior, for many years to come. -

Alot of my single friends back in the US are smart, charming, successful and wonderful men. Here, I have a few single friends who simply cannot afford to have a woman in their lives. But wow. Alot of profoundly ugly judgment, in one post. Perhaps the "most judgmental post of the week"? No need to address any specifics when a man has his mind set on tearing down the lifestyle of any other, with a very limited amount of information to work with, and alot of preconceived nations. I tend to be more a life and let live sort. -

I mention that I am a student of history. With a particular interest in ancient Sukhothai architecture. Especially late 13th century temples built during the reign of King Ram Kamhaeng, and the fascinating Chedi designs. Wow. Talk about a look of utter confusion on their faces! -

‘No bikinis’ sign on Samae San Island removed by the Thai Navy

The navy did the right thing. We do respect your culture. And there is nothing disrespectful about wearing a bikini on a beach. We don't object to the locals bathing fully clothed, though it is very odd. Show some respect to our culture too. We tend to use a bathing suit for swimming. LOL. Not like we aren't bringing anything to the table here. -

Correct. Counting every baht each month would be a tough cross to bear. I don't live a life of luxury, but I live very well here. -

More like overly simplistic. Why would I want to live in the US, if I don't have to? There are a dozen good reasons for living here. Most of my friends who can afford it, are leaving the US. It is a broken nation, a bankrupt culture and hopelessly divided. You pay regardless of where you live. Many of my friends in the US don't even have control of their own money. They can't even make a decision to buy something expensive without "getting permission", and often the woman says NO. Nothing wrong with taking care of a good woman. I really like doing so. Mine really deserves the care and support she gets. But, she does bring alot to the table. She works, she is smart, funny, sexy, beautiful, quite a bit younger than me (my preference, by a long shot) and very supportive of me. I could not ask for a better woman, and there is no way I could find a gal like her in the West. Never happen. Nearly every friend I have in the US is single. Why? Because for a man in the US, who is past the age of 50, unless he is willing to get with a woman at least his age, his prospects are dim for finding love, or companionship. Some guys like me, simply prefer younger women. Not kids, but women who are 10, 15, even 20 or 25 years younger than us. For a dozen very valid reasons. I could break them down, but why bother? The PC crew will jump on this and say it is not right. You should not be able to have this kind of life, without jumping over ridiculous hurdles! Means nothing to me. I do not do PC. Why be with a woman our age, if we do not need to? Nothing wrong with it, if it works for you. But It is virtually impossible for a 60 year old man in the US, to hook up with a 36 year old woman, unless she is very fat or very ugly, or he is a centi millionaire, or is famous. Period. It just does not happen in this day and age. Here it is possible. Granted he will likely get with a woman of lesser means, who needs a guy who can provide some financial stability. So what? Who cares? Most women want financial stability anywhere in the world, whether they admit it or not. The difference is here the women are more honest about their financial needs and desires. I know a lot of men who have engaged in relationships with lovely, kind, supportive, humorous, and sexy women here, who are no longer lonely. We have very good lives. Fulfilling lives. Lives we could never dream of having back in the US, OZ, NZ, UK, Canada, or Scandinavia. -
How do you cope with skyrocketing premiums from health insurers?
spidermike007 replied to DUS's topic in Health and Medicine
I don't. They jacked my premium one too many times. Sorry. Homey don't play that game. No claims and ever rising premiums and I said hit the door, Jack. I self insure. I do have a decent accident policy, which is reasonable. And I take out travel insurance when I travel back to the US. And car insurance. Other than that, no other insurance. See ya. Don't miss ya.
