  1. make friends on the mini bus-( if possible)

drop your visa paper work of at chulia st. nj books.

go over (taxi) and rent a nice room or suite at gurny hotel or northham suites.

    http://www.northam-hotel.com.my/index.htm or http://www.gurney-hotel.com.my/

Now if you share ( with 3 or more) you'll pay the same as any of those crap ones near chulia st.

Best part, the visa agent will deliver to your hotel (free) or you can pick it up on your wayout.

becarefull in penang, many friends robbed near chulia st. The neighbor hood near gurny is a bit safer. have a good trip.

  2. Ko Ngai now has about 6 resorts (total) and a few restaurants. But Yes, Ko Ngai Resort is off by itself.

For beaches, I like the beach in front of Ko Ngai villa or over (walk) to paradise beach resort. Thapwarin and Cocos are nice places to stay too. Dont miss snorkle a on the nearby Islands- Ko Chueak - Ko Ma etc... Its an east facing beach so its open year around- this time of year I expect very quiet. High season it can get a little busier with a lot of day-trippers about. But there is a good Long tail boat company that runs tours around there from Ko Lanta- see www.lantalongtail.com or PM me if you have any more questions. HH

  3. I need to get some more Artist’s prints made. For the past few years I’ve been sending my pictures (either original -to be scanned- or digital) back home, my friends put them on nice heavy stock ( to match the look of watercolor paper) Mostly we’ve be doing high quality Xerox’s. Now and again putting them on canvas.

So question when can I get some made here in Thailand. I assume Bangkok- but does anybody out there know where?

Also where are the best places to buy "stock" are the big department stores the best?

    Kindly HH

  4. Hi TV,

I off again and I need a 1000 baht re-entry permit to keep my non-O. Last time I went to my local immigration office. This time I want to know if can a get one at the border crossing near Hat yai (padang besar). I’m taking a train to KL, so we stop a liitle west of Sadao. Is this possible?

If not, can I go to any immigration office? or do I have to go to the one in MY area. I ask cause I’m heading south and don’t want to go back up north to Krabi. (It's 3 hours away).

    Thanks for your help.

    HH

  5. Its about time we got a full heath check up. I noticed many good hospitals run such programs. Anyone care to share what was there experience with this kind of health check up. Prices seem to vary too. Interested in bangkok or Phuket areas.

    I am female 43 y/o

    Hubby is 38 y/o

    Thanks for your help. HH

  6. Ive been asking this same question for years and havent meet a Farang yet who says he /she has registered their house seperate to the land. I have found the below statement on a few websites which says it can be done:

Buildings other than condominiums do not have any form of title document, but their sale or long lease can be registered at the Ampur (district) land office. Proof of ownership, must be established either from proof of construction or document showing previous sale-purchase (do not confuse this with the House License document, which is only a register of the house's occupants).

Transfer of a building as distinct from its land requires the posting of 30 days public notice (to see if anyone wishes to contest the ownership). Foreign nationals (aliens) may own a building (as distinct from its land) and may register such transfer of ownership into their names at the local district office.

    Good luck HH :o

  7. Hi Penz,

Check out Sun's fishing and Island tours for camping on deserted islands around the southern islands of Krabi & Trang via a Longtail Boat

Believe me, you will be the only campers out there. Perhaps you can set up a drop off pick-up with Khun Sun since you have your own gear. Have fun!

  8. Hi again Moscow.

Listen, I just got back from a little dress hunting myself, and it was a breeze. If you go into most wedding dress shops they have some great Thai style stuff and can be altered to fit even us farang-sized girls, and the best part is, you can either rent or buy- Up to you.

Any way, I was kind of dreading the idea of dress shopping ( I dislike that kind of shopping) but it was real easy and fun. I think the Thai style is 100 times better looking than the farang style. (My opinion)

BTW- I am going to an Issan wedding myself - The bride is Thai and she said she will wear traditional for the ceremony and then change into farang style later. I will be happy to report back how it went. That is if I have time. Our ceremony is in FEB. I’m definitely going Thai style- then changing into island hopping attire - than back into a more comfortable Thai style as we are slicing the day up in to 3 different parts.

I wish I knew more about the parents role, but I don’t.

I’m sure there are some books written.

Anyway Congrats again and HAVE FUN!! HH

  9. This question goes out to all you farang married to a Thai national: Male or Female.

Is your name on the Tambien Baan where you reside?

Was is difficult in adding your name (HOW?)

Has it been beneficial? Is it easier for alien reporting?

Does adding your name to the TB change the status of a long-term lease drawn-up against the Tambian Baan. ( If your are leasing from your wife/girlfriend husband/boyfriend)

And one just for the ladies- Have you taken your husband’s name?

    Thanks!

    :o

  10. For those of us who live here year around, you might remember we had virtually NO monsoon (rain) this last "low" season. At least that was true here in Krabi; it was warm and beautiful the whole summer June- August. :D

I’m sorry for all the tourists that are stuck in their bungalows- But the rain has to come at sometime or we will have problems like SBK said. :o

  11. A mutual friend introduced us. Our first few dates were translated!

    It was pretty funny.

After a few dates we slept together - and that was it. I remember say coffee- in the morning- to him- and that was all we could say!

The said mutual friend (whom I suspected) turned out to be his old girlfriend. I already knew it- it was so obvious. But being Thai (style) they didn’t want to tell me for a few years. I was mad for a few days - but I got over it. Anyway it’s all fine now. We are all friends- although she lives far away now.

Things like this would of drove me crazy, back home- but I understand that’s their way. What can I say?

I do think he is pretty un coventional- He says its beacuse he lived in a WAT for 10 years. Not sure? But he has no family connection. so I dont know his family only by telephone- . ...yet.

  12. I agree with you Too true. I love that about Thai men- Roses and candy- no way- But whenever a new flower blooms in our garden he picks it and gives it to me. Much better.

I also wouldn't have believed that I would marry this man 3 1/2 years ago when we met. But really he hasn’t changed much, I have! - I understand a lot more of his culture and language and I know him allot better. The jealousy and weirdness (culturally) has disappeared, but his steady character is the same. I guess what really sealed the deal is, whenever I leave, I come home to a more beautiful house and all my western friends tell me how he worked the whole time I was away- trying to surprise me- My Thai friends s

  13. Well.. I can’t tell you much about Boys! I prefer men- Ive only had one Thai man and I think I got lucky.

    HE….

Cooks like a pro (was a chef)

Helps with the house – more then me! I’m lazy.

    Great smile

    Grows beautiful flowers (especially Lotus’s)

Never stops being busy- always moving, working or doing something,

Looks very cute running around in his underwear EVERYWHERE- or one of my sarongs.

Likes to make love in the day light-

When he returns from work (all though I probably use more of my money, beacuse I have more) He ALWAYS hands me ALL of his.

Jokes with the neighbors- always laughing and joking with everybody in the neighborhood.

Looks silly when he returns home with his stupid Thai haircut- but thinks he looks sexy.

Never hurts anything (due to previous monanstic life)

Makes the best coffee in the morning

Has a cool heart- Most of the time- But I can make him a bit crazy when we get lost in the car.

And after 3 years we got married last week-

Sorry if I am gushing- I’m pretty happy!

    :o

They are out there.. Nice men- Yes even Thai ones.

  14. Sorry to drag up an old post BUT-

About this type O visa- does it count towards PR "value" status like some of the other TV members speak of?

Or is that only because an "extension of stay" is for men supporting their Thai wives. Do you know of any western women who have received PR in Thailand?

Another question- do you farang ladies do you’re 90-day reporting? It seems with this O visa its mandatory? is that correct?

I live 3 hours from the immigration office- I know I’m suppose to, but I have only done it once in 3 years :o - to register my car. But then again I travel allot. Thanks for you help

    HH

  15. Hi FF,

As I remember reading your house book was for a condo? and Congrats!

Has ANYONE ever received a yellow House book for an actual house? It’s funny because you read and are told that foreigner CAN OWN property in Thailand. Yet I have never met or even read about a farang getting any official documents on this. Am I missing something?

I would love to hear from some fellow farangs who have done this? Post away! :o HH

FireFAN - the fox guy is much smarter with computers than I!

Make a search here for "tabien bahn" and you will find the whole story.

You are certainly right it was a hassle! Involving bringing witnesses and answering silly question ad naseaum.

    Cheers!

    :D
  16. I usually jump down to Pennang for my tourist visa and use a local agent whom I like very much.

Next moth, I am going on a Holiday to China and I just happily discovered that there is a Royal Thai Consulate-General in Kunming. I will be in Kunming for 3-4 days and I would like to get a Double (triple?) entry Tourist visa at the Royal Thai Consulate-General.

I read that the consulate is located in a wing of the Kunming Hotel, so I assume there will be someone to “help”.

    Questions:

Do they offer double or triple entries Thai tourist visas in China?

    Anybody know the price?

Can you recommend any visa agents in Kunming nearby to assist; are there any agents in the said Hotel?

Is the time frame the same as in Pennang -2 days?

    Anything else I should know?

    Regards, HH

    :o:D
