  1. Not at all. I am not going to explain it to you as you know.
  2. Of course it does. Different market with different prices and customers. The topic was Foodland.
  3. My Foodland in Laksi has gone to hell. Looks like a cheap Thai supermarket. The aisles now have items on sale down the middle of them making shopping difficult. Many western items are no longer stocked. Their best personnel have left or been let go. Its really dropped off. I have shopped there since it opened 20 years ago and complained. I was shocked to get back a letter saying that is the way it is. Not a prime location and they are just going to let it go. I hope that the one on Soi 5 is not following the same model. Yes it is really effecting Took lae Dee as well which has seen business tumble.
  4. Inexpensive would be Thai beef. Unusable unless you slow cook or braise it. Local market might be your best choice if you cant find it at Big C. A nice cut of chewable beef is not Hi/So at all.
  5. Both Wish Beer and Villa Market have Canadian Club, seems thats about it.
  6. That is some theory "Jethro". C'mon Barry you are better than that. 50 is the prime of life.
  7. It is and Raillay has had a change for the worse as well. Simply too built up now. You see them and avoid them. Most Thai beaches are like that sadly. Can see it could be a problem for those that have no idea about Thai strays.
  8. Krabi is a province not an island. Never heard that it has a reputation for being unsafe. In fact other than Ao Nang it seems to be one of the cleanest and friendly places around to visit, with so many things to do. Hot springs, crystal clear fresh water areas, mangrove swamps, beaches, rock climbing are just a few fun activities.
  9. Same thing happened to our housekeeper about 5 months ago. She lost 250,000 basically all her savings. Simply naive she was. It is gone and there is no way to get it back. I feel for her and your BIL. She has moved on. Won't do it again that is for sure.
  10. Pattaya celebrates a week later than other places in general. April 18 and 19 will be big days.
  11. From that description and the video linked the girls and ladyboys will only see one thing. $$$$$.
  12. If you are going that far you need to be tested for sleep apnea as well.
  13. I got a new drivers license last week. As part of that you have 4 "physical" tests you must pass. Color blindness, Depth perception, Speed of breaking, and Peripheral vision. Half of the Thai applicants failed one of these with the majority not being able to recognize a red light and brake in time. It was truly shocking to see the same people picking up their new license an hour later.
  14. Kind of like playing dice. Superb until you are denied entry. Entry is up to the discretion of the IO you get upon entering.
  15. Believe me I know. Living in north Bangkok its sort of my go to street. Having lived here for so long I have seen it go from a smaller road with orchards and nurseries all along it to the massive road it is now. My Foodland and Makro are both on that street.
  16. The Pink Line monorail construction does cause jams, but on Changwattana Rd. Not on any highway. Just to be clear to people who are travelling there.
  17. Dont get on the internet. Mate you seem to have become a bit of a hypochondriac or cyberchondriac lately. First your liver and now this. There is a reason doctors go to med school for years after they have graduated in a science. If you are really worried get into a top hospital and take your records, then get a second opinion and try to understand what the doctor says.
  18. There has been no surprise change. Since at least the beginning of December it has been known and documented the 45 day deal would end on March 31. Sure people hoped it would be extended but it was not. You should not have been surprised at all.
  19. If you do this every year and enjoy yourself simply get a 60 day tourist visa before you leave. You can double your fun. 40+ years ago there was no visa waiver or visa on arrival. You simply got one before you came.
  20. Quite a book you wrote.
  21. This is where I would start my search for what went wrong. They were not regular girls. Sincerely wish you good luck getting through this.
  22. They did over 10 years ago.
  23. Khon Kaen University has a good veterinary school. They have a hospital there and it would be like Kasetsart Uni's vet program. Great teaching doctors, and staff, along with bright young students trying to get one of their life's goals. We have used Kaset for both a cat and our dogs over the years. You get proper receipts and prescriptions.
