I'm pretty tired of seeing these posts saying you must get an onward flight. I have travelled to Thailand for 15 years on 30 day visa exempt entry and most have been on one-way flights. I have never been asked to show a ticket leaving Thailand, with my most recent one-way flight arrival being 14 January

My Morchana app just turned green without me doing anything, does this mean I no longer need to do the PCR test lol
-
Been all over Pattaya bars and have yet to be asked for an ATK test or result. Most seem to accept the green temp sense reading. If they do ask for ATK, I'll just move on to next bar

Hope you don't need to go to immigration for any other reason as it's a 1600 baht fine for not doing TM30 within 3 days of arrival. As I spent 45 minutes waiting in the TM30 room I was surprised at how many they were fining. One guy had booked into a hotel for last 2 nights as he hadn't filed a tm30 but she looked on the computer and said he didn't have a tm30 before that since 27 Dec so fined him anyway....

Do you actually need a Sim Card?
aussiexpat replied to aussiexpat's topic in Mobile Devices and Apps
Citibank allows OTP to be generated by app with sms option turned off. My Westpac gave me a usb size code generator. I still need to check with my Krungsi bank as OTP goes to my now dead Thai phone so I can't even pay my elec bill lol -
I've read all the linked thread and it's a bit confusing regarding jomtien hospital. Some say they used it and was easy, while others said no appointments available and Banglamung hospital is the only possible test centre (while some have paid private with the hope it's accepted). Has anyone used Jomtien Hospital for the free 5-7 day PCR test in the last 10 days or so?

Do you actually need a Sim Card?

Geez, the rubbish I come up after 12 beers. Some really good points on why to get a Sim. Last time I was here I went to River Kwai using only trains and local bus. The Google maps was my lifesaver as it is what told me what stops to get off at. So as I plan to travel alot this year I went ahead and got a dtac Sim. Unlimited data at 20Mbps, which seems significantly faster than my condo and bar wifi. They tried to deny me the 'local' package as I only have exempt entry but after showing my Thai bank book she gave it to me. 399 baht paid up to 23 March. Nothing really, but I wouldn't have bothered with a tourist Sim package -

Why is it that every thread you imply the OP has a hidden agenda or what they say didn't really happen because it doesn't fit your understanding. Thread is simple, do we actually need a Sim in Pattaya anymore? -

Why would I need a landline to hire a taxi? That's the point, all taxi are bookable by wifi internet. I have a taxi service I've used for 5 years, they'll take me anywhere in Thailand. Bookable by email. -

I haven't seen any good reasons to get a Sim. I've had a Thai Sim for 14 years but now been back 4 days and Sim died as I was away too long. So far haven't missed it. Most reasons given have been banks but I'm covered by wifi, or taxi's which I don't use. I guess I've answered my own question, don't need a Sim in Pattaya (I'll get one when I travel north) -

As I said earlier, I bought a condo central to everything in Pattaya so that I never needed to catch a taxi again...don't need Bolt or Grab whatever they are. I can walk everywhere. -

I don't even know what a Bolt or a Grab is so I think I'll survive having never used them in my life so far lol Btw, I bought a condo central to everything in Pattaya so that I never needed to catch a taxi again ???? -

Lol, in 14 years coming to Pattaya I've never sat outside waiting for a taxi. They message/Line me when outside and then I leave my condo. If catching a taxi away from my Condo, they're on the street ready to go -

No I email them I do all my banking with wifi. All banks I have use apps and the OTP code is given via the app rather than by sms -
I debated this over 2 years ago as my condo has wifi and every Pattaya bar you go to has free wifi also. Do you really need a Sim card with so many social media ways to contact people? You can even call each other on wifi messenger if you actually want to speak to someone. Maybe not having 24/7 access to social media is a good thing ????

I've been in Patts 3 days now and it seems to me that Russians are the worst for masks. They either don't wear them at all or have them as a chin guard. Some other nationalities seem to think covering the mouth is all that's required. Here's a tip, if your nose is exposed over a mask it highlights this feature which is not pretty in most cases. I'm already sick of seeing ugly noses I wouldn't have even noticed before lol In summary, it's Thailand law so wear it, who cares if you think it's crazy or you need to be a rebel. I don't want to see ugly noses anymore ????

Hundreds of people lined up, but no testing outside, a temp check once you get inside
-
I just had my TM30 done, got there at 1pm, finished at 3:30. About 1 hr 45 minutes lined up outside, 45 minutes crammed in the TM30 room. Many people in front of me getting the 1600baht fine for not reporting TM30 within 3 days. Note: you can get the TM30 form from the 90 day reporting area to the right as you enter.
