  1. Then tourists and retirees will go somewhere else where they are not forced to pay for insurance. Simple
  2. No, I'm sure they mean an SHA++ hotel which is linked to a hospital in case of positive test?
  3. My only point from this is that countries shouldn't be able to decide whether insurance is made mandatory. If I didn't have a condo there I wouldn't care, I'd never go back with such a mandate. No-one likes being forced into something they don't need....scam alarm ????
  4. And that is your "life choice" so what's your point. I have never needed it despite travelling the World and have enough cash to pay for whatever occurs. Why should I be forced insurance against my Will? Edit: by the way, 56 years old travelled the world. Lived 15 years as an expat. Premiums $0, medical claims $0. How about you?
  5. The only reason to keep the taxi to a SHA++ hotel for the ATK test is the last + means linked to a hospital. Nice way to keep the baht flowing by putting random somebody's into hospital for a false positive
  6. Good for you. It is a problem for many others, especially from me who has decided to self insure their life and travel...don't need extra scam insurance
  7. That was my point, Thai get it cheaper at 10 baht because the seller knows there's no point haggling..."tourists" are then fair game at 20, 30, 40 depending at how long they've spent in Thailand, especially if they make the effort to speak some thai
  8. Interesting, so Australia has a bubble with Singapore and Singapore has a bubble with Thailand...sounds like a plan for easy travel to Swampy ????
  9. First of all, Thailand wishes they had 10,000s + but they have 4000. Second, do a runner lol. And risk being deported and banned from Thailand over not doing a 600 baht ATK, ridiculous
  10. 1 Nov Rule - mandated taxi - PCR test - stay at hotel until negative result (pay) - Ambulance to hospital if positive 1 Dec Rule - mandated taxi - ATK test - stay at hotel until negative result (????) - Ambulance to hospital if positive So benefit is what? Or maybe the ATK more likely to give false positive and cost 120,000 baht in hospital ????
  11. That bottle neck was when there were 110,000 per day arriving. Currently it's at 4,000 per day. By the time it gets to 10,000 per day they could then drop it (or just give the kit to take with you)
  12. Even bigger joke is that if I nominate Novatel at the airport, I won't get a Thailand Pass unless I show proof of a 600 metre taxi fare and a pre-paid ATK. What would that be, 1000 baht? What's the point....
  13. Why would a hotel be interested in the hassle of doing an ATK test only with no nights booking? And I have a condo, don't need a hotel and my taxi would be straight to Pattaya Why not set up ATK at the basically empty airport? Can see the Swampy Novatel across the road becoming a very busy ATK test facility lol
  14. That makes no sense as if it moves to an ATK test you definitely don't need a taxi and hotel. In fact you shouldn't need a Thai Pass because all that's left is the insurance to check If they keep the taxi and hotel however, then that is even more proof it was only ever a money making scam
  15. If only an ATK is required that at least gets rid of the mandatory taxi and Hotel... now just the insurance scam to go
  16. Here's another way to look at it. If you are happy paying 30 baht for the ice cream, what does it matter how much they charge Thai's? Where does it end, I've seen tourists pay 500 bt per T-shirt when I came in and paid 200, while I'm sure someone else more patient would pay 150. We're all happy or we wouldn't have bought them...up to you ????
  17. Please check the title of the thread mate. It's about booze and bars opening, which is why I said Thailand is definitely not wide open
  18. I don't understand why this is unusual? When I was working I was always updated with the latest phone so why shouldn't the 111 most senior officials in Government be given one? It's $75,000, peanuts for a government
  19. Yeah, quality tourists that then have to sit in a curb to have a beer like a backpacker lol
  20. I love it, but worried them putting this online will prove to the powers to be that they are right to keep bars closed ???? Why is Phuket like this while Pattaya is all masked up with full bar lockdowns? Maybe if they opened Pattaya there'd more baht flowing and therefor less need for the deceitful hotel tactics
  21. Sandbox for fully vaccinated not on approved list of countries and AQ full quarantine for the unvaccinated
