That bottle neck was when there were 110,000 per day arriving. Currently it's at 4,000 per day. By the time it gets to 10,000 per day they could then drop it (or just give the kit to take with you)

Even bigger joke is that if I nominate Novatel at the airport, I won't get a Thailand Pass unless I show proof of a 600 metre taxi fare and a pre-paid ATK. What would that be, 1000 baht? What's the point....

Why would a hotel be interested in the hassle of doing an ATK test only with no nights booking? And I have a condo, don't need a hotel and my taxi would be straight to Pattaya Why not set up ATK at the basically empty airport? Can see the Swampy Novatel across the road becoming a very busy ATK test facility lol

That makes no sense as if it moves to an ATK test you definitely don't need a taxi and hotel. In fact you shouldn't need a Thai Pass because all that's left is the insurance to check If they keep the taxi and hotel however, then that is even more proof it was only ever a money making scam

If only an ATK is required that at least gets rid of the mandatory taxi and Hotel... now just the insurance scam to go

Here's another way to look at it. If you are happy paying 30 baht for the ice cream, what does it matter how much they charge Thai's? Where does it end, I've seen tourists pay 500 bt per T-shirt when I came in and paid 200, while I'm sure someone else more patient would pay 150. We're all happy or we wouldn't have bought them...up to you ????
