  1. So, the government says nothing to worry about and an economist says that the outlook for the economy is dim. Who to believe? From the Bangkok Post today.
  2. Understandable really. PM Paetongtarn is much better looking than Khun Natthaphong
  3. Pretty much all apps written, distributed in Thailand are rubbish. Very little control and testing before distribution. All part of the 'I want it now' society. Throw the app out there and let the people test it. Anyway, what about folk who do not have the phone or any apps? What about the people away from a wifi point? What about the people with no internet at all? Earthquakes have a habit of wiping out phone masts and internet networks. Yet again, the government looking after the Bangkok elite first. Forget about the rural and urban poor. (There are a lot of those between the epicentre and Bangkok.)
  4. Ah ha. The 'cover up' manager has arrived. For something a serious as this, the investigation should be thorough, not speedy. Anutin wants to shovel it under the carpet ASAP.
  5. It's all part of life's rich tapestry. Get over it and move on.
  6. Surely the solution is simple. The government should just ban earthquakes. They usually ban or gaol anything/anyone that they perceive as a threat.
  7. So social media carries most of the blame.
  8. The consortium that won the bid were instructed by the government to reduce the initial quote by some 258 million baht. (According to a previous report here on AN.) I'd wager that the savings were not made by reducing director's salaries or the amounts in the brown envelopes. It will be savings by reducing quantity/quality of the raw materials.
  9. Well, it did not work last year if they are back again this year.
  10. Thanks for the advice but my wireless connection keeps on dropping out as well. It never did that before this month.
  11. Well this article has put the kybosh on that. The innocent dead should be left to RIP.
  12. Thanks for that suggestion. I am assuming that the problem is the cable as we have replaced everything else. Many years in IT have given me pretty good problem analysis skills but here I am having to convince the local engineers. I have to go through their 'solutions' to show them. This saga is never ending. Changing the router meant that the CCTV does not work. The CCTV guy came yesterday and 'played' with the router and told me that 3BB need to 'open the port'. I am not a comms expert. Anyway, after he left - no internet at all. Nothing. Zilch. Da nada. I have been using a neighbour's wifi since yesterday, be both switched to 3BB at the same time. We had been using a private internet system before then (Blue Chip). My neighbour's internet keeps dropping out, same as mine. I am not sure if he is on the same cable or a separate one. Separate routers of course. Ho hum. I cannot wait for next week's amazing instalment.
  13. Except for a few grandchildren, nephews and nieces - yes.. And I am getting rid of everything before I die. Guaranteed no arguments.
  14. I think that it is a great idea. But only if the UN administer Russia as well. Peace at last.
  15. Ref stopped the fight, but too late for this lad. From Khaosod https://www.khaosodenglish.com/news/2025/03/29/british-man-dies-after-first-muay-thai-fight-in-koh-samui/
  16. That is good news. I am amazed that anyone would survive that disaster. The rescue workers are amazing. They all deserve our respect. Looking at that pile of rubble, just where does one start?
  17. Well done Khun Wiroj. Go for her throat. You may not win but the publicity will weaken her position.
  18. Roughly translates as 'big brown envelopes'.
  19. Update 3BB said that I needed to upgrade my package. Done. They then said that I needed to upgrade the router. Done. They then said that the repeater should be directly wired to the main router. Done. Internet still drops out and takes a few minutes to reconnect. This is happening on two separate computers. Neighbour says to update phone software to latest version (for the AIS problems). Done. AIS mobile hotspot still dropping out (worked fine ever since it was available in the island ). WhatsApp (via AIS account) still has delays. Lived here forever and these problems have only happened this month. I will be having a loooong conversation with 3BB next week
  20. I suggest that she does not sell any shirt that contravenes section 112.
  21. Yes there has according to the government.
  22. "As ye sow, so shall ye reap"
  23. So the tourist went to the police station to complain about the 300 baht charge and was fined 1,000 baht by the police for not wearing a helmet? Moral of the story - do not complain to the police.
  24. Yes, much better Really? AQI is 156 (unhealthy) at the moment in parts of Korat Whilst it is not great here this morning on Samui (96 AQI) this is about as bad as it gets. Most of the time - very good air here. https://www.iqair.com/th-en/thailand/nakhon-ratchasima/nakhon-ratchasima/korat-montessori
  25. He was in intensive care there for two weeks.
