  1. These are not every day risks. These events are very rare under the circumstances.
  2. Bad. The government 'struggles' with these levels every year. We all know that they will do nothing about it, just like previous governments. Here on Samui - 86 US AQI⁺ (moderate) Main pollutant: PM2.5 28 µg/m³ This is why I moved from Bangkok to Samui.
  3. No they are not. The culprit is CP Foods. However, CPF will 'pay' their way out of the situation. The PM is just waiting to see how large her envelope is. Nothing else to do but play with the kids until envelope accepted.
  4. Well spotted. It is a definition, not a USA thing, nor Thai. Same same the world over in English. Another site. There are loads. Take your pick. https://differencess.com/difference-between-legalization-and-decriminalization/
  5. Banning the advertising of alcohol does nor stop people from becoming alcoholics. Nor will there suddenly become a rush of alcoholics if adverts for alcohol appear. I suspect that everyone in Thailand is aware of alcohol being available 24 hours a day - somewhere. It was just a repressive control to allow for arresting and fining some people. Do people really believe that the millions of signs advertising Singha are really for their mineral water?
  6. I realise that there are lots of Thai pilots available, but my understanding is that many lack experience. If I was lending a plane or three to an airline, I would want the best experienced person available to fly it. Foreign pilots are accepted on International routes so why is it such a big issue on domestic routes? NB Indonesia repatriating Thai pilots during the pandemic does not make it 'common practice worldwide'. A very weak example.
  7. Do not worry Kris. "Boss" Yoovidhya will send his private jet to pick you up and you can both party together at all of the F1 venues as VIP guests of Red Bull.
  8. From the link. Decriminalisation is the act of removing any criminal sanctions against a certain drug, including its use or possession under a specified amount. A decriminalised drug is still illegal, but the punishment for it is much less harsh. Your comment re other drugs is very relevant. Starting on the 'lesser' drugs tends to increase the awareness and people then move on to others. Especially youngsters.
  9. It was not legalised. It was decriminalised. One can still be prosecuted for recreational use, or even non-licenced medical use. https://www.turnbridge.com/news-events/latest-articles/decriminalization-vs-legalization/
  10. 30 million baht for some railings that will not stop the suicides - the people will just go elsewhere. And this is just for extending the fence. How much was the first installations? How much is left in the tin for the homeless and destitute in Bangkok?
  11. How would we know that if all evidence has been removed?
  12. Are the police going to after them as well? I hope so.
  13. One of my favourite dishes is beef rendang. Help please - where can I get a decent one here on Samui. There is a Malaysian restaurant nearby in Choengmon, but their version was disappointing. Any recommendations?
  14. Having had three previous attempts to smuggle intercepted at Samui airport, maybe he decided to try Suratthani airport after the recent failure there to intercept a suitcases with cannabis in it. https://aseannow.com/topic/1354905-thai-tourists-escape-charges-in-cannabis-luggage-mix-up-in-japan-video/
  15. But for how long will it remain open before the next accident?
  16. It would seem that they have been in Thailand for quite a while and were already roaming around Pattaya. I totally agree with his not pressing charges and I have done the same when engaged in 'conflict' with local gangs. The last thing that he and his young lady need is a gang seeking revenge.
  17. Are the TAT that naive that they really believe that crime will stop because folk are back on 30 day visas?
  18. Hmm. Are the rest dead already? If the Thais were serious about any of this, they would insist on meeting ALL of the deportees. But, it's just a dog and pony show.
  19. Rescue workers have a very tough job and , on the whole, do it really well. It must be gut-wrenching not to be able to save someone and to watch them slowly die.
  20. That has to be the lamest excuse to date this year. It does not need two kilometers for a van to roll to a stop. Downshift to the lowest gear?
  21. Very sad that petty, local politics interferes in what could have been a life saving situation. Luckily, it was only property this time, but ......
  22. He is not really a tourist. He's married to a Thai girl
  23. Which they had fled from because of fear of persecution. Thailand sent them back into hell.
  24. Looks like Thaksin's recent visit has really pizzed off the terrorists. Seem to be more bombs and killings since he was there.
  25. Seeing as the braces are only a 'fashion' statement, is it really a dental clinic. Hygiene not really an issue either by the looks of it.
