  1. OK PoorSucker, we need your help here. Please post a comment stating that it is sunny in Samui. ☀️ Since you posted the comment above, it hasn't stopped raining. 24/7. ????️ That day was the last day that we saw the sun. ???? You are obviously THE 'Rainman'. ????
  2. "Gen. Prawit mandates adjustment of 20-year national water master plan" And this was the same general that said that Bangkok would not flood. His record to date is a tad shaky.
  3. Here is an easier solution and at a lower cost. Every time that you catch 'illegal' immigrants entering the country, test them for Covid. Take them to a holding centre. Register them with immigration and the labour office and then let them carry on to designated employers.
  4. Headline from the other newspaper. "Govt plans to reopen borders to foreign workers amid shortage"
  5. Poor souls. Probably sent back to a life of poverty or even death. None of the Burmese crossing the border have been found to have Covid (according to the press). They catch it when they start working in Thailand.
  6. From the reports that then government is letting the press release, there have been zero migrants/refugees reported to have had Covid. Not sure where the problem is.
  7. I have never had that problem with PayPal. I use a (Thai) VPN all of the time via ExpressVPN.
  8. No, but you do nothing. The places where you stay once you leave your 'home' province should register you via the TM 30 at the local immigration office. eg hotel or villa. They will need to see your passport. However, you do not have to 'report in' when you return to your normal address. Staying on your local province is TM30 free.
  9. Probably zero. International tourists will be the ones on the Samui Plus flights. Domestic tourists travel on the scheduled flights.
  10. We have checked in 5 different groups of mainland Chinese in the last week. 8-10 people in a group and they all have a similar itinerary. Chiang Mai - Koh Samui - Bangkok. I do not know their original entry point but I would guess Bangkok. They have omitted 'snowbirds' and holiday-property owners. Again, six groups of friends are arriving in November/December. Most stay for one to four months and would come every year.
  11. I too have had a PP account for many years. It is connected to my Thai bank account. I have received no details of any any changes to my main account. I do have a second PP account under a different name but I do not use it. The only updates that I receive on that account are from scammers. Apparently my account has been closed nine times last month. All I have to do to open it again is to click on a 'button'!
  12. Aged 49 and had spent the majority of the last 15 years of my working life in hotels and on planes. Rarely saw the wife so I decided to give up work. Said to the wife 'where do you want to live - anywhere in the world?' I had taken her to more than 40 countries and we had lived in seven of them (for business reasons) including Thailand. Thailand was the reply. Wife was from Brum in the UK. No regrets in that decision.
  13. Correct but usually, it is only an issue if the police need a cup of tea.
  14. It means that there are 15 more budgets open to develop corruption. That is pretty smart if you are the top of the heap.
  15. The solution to the ones entering illegally is simple. At the moment, they arrest them. Check them for Covid. Incarcerate them and then send them back. Of all of the recent migrants, NONE have had Covid. So, register them. Give them temporary papers and let them work in a controlled environment. After a probation period, make their papers more permanent.
  16. This is the bit that Thailand ignores. They are refugees. They know that Thailand will just send them back so they have no choice but to escape from Burma illegally. (Earning a few bob helps as there is no financial cushion in Thailand.) Shame on you Prayut.
  17. That is not how it works. We paid for our parents' pension. You are paying for ours (except that I saved for a private one). Your children will pay for yours - if they bother to get a job instead of demonstrating. This is the theory anyway,
  18. I have a good Thai brand L size. (59/60). It is a bit tight, which is good. XL should work for you PoorSucker.
  19. You can apply but........ Experience from a friend of mine trying to get here for more than a month now. It took us 3 + weeks to get the visa, yesterday I applied for the Thailand Pass for us two - the wife´s came back approved within 5 minutes - mine not yet... No one can understand what these guys are doing to their homeland with this silly regulations - if I have no QR Code from Thailand Pass I cannot buy a flight ticket and have to keep postponing hotel stay again and again.. That does not attract tourists...
  20. Bangkok, Bangkok, Bangkok. What about the other 50 million citizens? (Especially the elderly Thais?)
  21. It is fixed by the middle men as proved in the Yingluck fiasco. Only the middle men made money in the 'Thai rice price fixing scheme'.
