Coronavirus vaccinations on the islands
Tropicalevo replied to khunPer's topic in Koh Samui, Koh Phangan, Koh Tao
Yes - I was delayed for about 15 minutes waiting in a queue for a photocopy. The slowest copier on the island. After that - very quick. Well done to the organisers. (Friends who went did not need a copy of their passports and did not even have to show them!) -
Yet still the Thai junta support the Burmese one. The poor Burmese refugees will probably be sent back next week. "Medical teams are on standby to provide medical treatment to injured refugees according to international principles." And these are probably similar 'international principals' that the police used against unarmed protesters.

This was not the prime reason for the current wave of Covid infections which started in April. The start of it all was the fact that HiSo's and government leaders were not following guidelines and going to private entertainment places. THEN Covid starting travelling. Have those owners and patrons of the entertainment places been gaoled yet? (Rhetorical question.)

Try Leo 8. It is a lot less sweet and it has more of a bitter taste. Mind you, it is a tad stronger. Friends and I regularly drink a variety of beers at home. In order of preference :- Leo 8 Singha Chang Leo We also go for Tsing Tao and Beer Lao at times.

Thanks for posting that khunPer. Does anyone know timings? Is it daytime? Evening?

I cannot speak for the whole of Samui, but in my little business this week I have checked in :- Family of 8 from Dubai Family of 5 from the UK A couple from the UK (One with Covid) A couple from the USA 2 male and one female from the UK Family of 7 from Thailand 5 males from Denmark Family of 3 from Singapore (plus maid) Some smaller groups of domestic tourists and a couple of family groups of Chinese. Today -a couple from Dubai, family of 8 mainland Chinese and family of 5 from the USA. Yes - quality tourists.

Coronavirus vaccinations on the islands
Tropicalevo replied to khunPer's topic in Koh Samui, Koh Phangan, Koh Tao
One of my staff loaded the app onto my 'overseas' phone and they used my 13 digit social security number. (I used this at vaccination time.) That same number appears on the certificate on the app as well a the paper certificate from Nathon hospital but it does not appear on the yellow International vaccine passport(?) -
As far as I know, the only options are from Samui or Chumphon. https://12go.asia/en/travel/chumphon/koh-tao https://lomprayah.com/timetable

Teachers et al seem to have a special status in Thailand. My wife (farang) was a teacher and she was wai'd by pretty much every Thai that we know. Including the local police chief.

Thailand's new COVID-19 cases hit six month low
Tropicalevo replied to Jonathan Fairfield's topic in Thailand News
Do not worry. The government will publish the real figures when they want to lock everything down again. -
On the other side of the coin, a friend came home yesterday after a week in Hua Hin and said that the bar areas/restaurants were very lively and that the hotels that he stayed in were all fully booked. He did say that the guests did not look like International tourists. He thought ex-pats and domestic tourists.
-
Spot on. That and all of the aggro and cost of getting 'permission' to come. We are busy here but the guests all complained about the 'jumping through hoops' and the additional costs of tests etc.

Tropicalevo replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
A bit more difficult now for the uber-rich British tourists to get here. Which airline will be the next one to cancel? Any other ideas TAT?- 192 replies
