  1. Thank you khunPer. So I have to go to Bangrak Health Centre for a document and there were 13 new cases there yesterday. ???????? I think that I will stay at home. ????????
  2. That is a bit ironic. 13 cases from meeting at the Public Health Department. Stay safe people.
  3. Just an observation from the villa rental business up here at 'the pointy end' of the island. Now that the Phuket sandbox is more established, we are getting bookings from tourists from that model. Mostly French and Germans. No Brits - the 10 days quarantine on return to the UK is a killer there. Also, now that BA is flying scheduled flights from Bangkok (3 per day so far) we are also seeing bookings from Thai domestic tourists. They are not coming in their thousands and spending billions of baht, but a noticeable difference in the demographic.
  4. Eric Clapton - Wonderful Tonight. Wifey passed away 5 years ago, but this was our song.
  5. Someone needs to tell him that you can get Covid more than once. Not a high risk, but still a risk.
  6. It is not a coincidence that the 'official' infection numbers started going down and the country 'opening up' are announced just before the censure debate in parliament which is about the PM's performance to date.
  7. You can mention the country of origin as long as you do not mention the Thai one. Then it is all Greek. ????
  8. I do not doubt you Neilly, but if your daughter went to the ferry terminal on a different day at a different time, she would possibly get a different answer. Pizz ups in a pub springs to mind.
  9. Well done Gov. Fessing up to making a mistake. Sadly, you may be moved to an inactive post if you continue to tell the truth.
  10. This is criminal. Killing off the elderly so that the government, their families, the police, military and their HiSo friends are OK. Some Thais have had four doses and yet the elderly are left to die. The personal stories from their families are heart wrenching.
  11. And now you know why the numbers of new Covid cases and testing are suddenly going down. It makes Pinky and Perky look good. Nothing to do with the real numbers. ???? Fourth wave after the vote?
  12. Yes - it has happened before. About 15 years ago. Wifey used her credit card at BA to buy a ticket and two days later items were being purchased in New York. Credit card company took the hit. The credit card was only used for booking airline flights. Cash for everything else. No online shopping back then.
  13. And they will think that I am a vegetarian. I'm not - it just gets a meal to me more quickly. Special meals first. ????
  14. I am struggling to understand the numbers here. Accumulated cases since April last year 434. Accumulated cases since 18/7 314+38+98 = 450 What am I missing? Surely the April 2020 number should be higher than 18/7?
  15. Nothing up here today. Lots of distant thunder though. The west coast and the hills here get a LOT more rain than we do.
  16. Yes. Everyone that we have checked in from Phuket for the last month has complained about the rain there. We are getting their 'leftovers'.
  17. If you ask 5 different people this question, you will probably receive 5 different replies. My understanding is that you need a reason to travel from a dark red zone. Business, family etc. However, reality is that if you are coming to the islands then you need a vaccination certificate and a negative Covid test.
  18. Some private villas are also receiving benefit from the Phuket ex-sandbox guests. At the moment it is more of a blip rather than a hike, but early days. Comment from one guest - 'Oh there's the sun. We have had nothing but rain for 14 days.'
  19. I have donated blood since I was 18 years old. I am O- - universal donor. Here on the island the hospitals would phone me when they needed blood. I last gave blood in March this year. The nurses clapped me and said - sorry. Last time. I was 70 in April.
  20. And this is one of the reasons why Covid is not going away. Sitting here tonight, I can hear 'boom boom' music coming across the bay, from a 'beach bar' in the next village. Pubs are closed and no alcohol in restaurants (supposedly). Friends in a restaurant in another village, at lunchtime, watched the police come in and tell the owner how much it would cost for them to be allowed to sell alcohol. Hey, life goes on.....
  21. This is confusing. The poor lady that was murdered was not in the SHA Plus program at the time that she was murdered. She had finished her 14 days quarantine, left the SHA Plus hotel and was travelling around Phuket staying in other hotels. She would probably still be alive had she stayed where she was originally. Whilst I believe that Phuket is generally a safe place to visit, ramping up security in the SHA Plus scheme will not really help to prevent something similar from happening again.
