  1. I have a friend living overseas and he does not have a Thai SIM. (You need one for the bank apps.) This is the response from SCB So, stop the service before you have the replacement. Not very good SBC. Customer Service 0/10
  2. Put these in every wardrobe and cupboard and leave the door open. Or Buckets of dry sand around the place. If wardrobes have lights, switch them on. I leave ceiling fans on 24/7 365 days a year. Not expensive. Still working after 23 years (touch wood).
  3. Let's remember what Anutin told CNN 3, 2, 1..............
  4. No use to me. I live on a private development. No PEA or PWA.
  5. Pizza? Tabasco sauce or nothing.
  6. The problem here on Samui is the house numbering system. It tells you when the house was built, not where it is. You then have to go to the post office and draw a map (or two) showing where the house is. As I said earlier, I have been receiving post OK (albeit late) for more than 20 years. So have my friends. The problem is that the sorting office is not getting the letters to the postie. There are piles and piles of unsorted post at the sorting office. It seems that if you are waiting for an important letter, you have to go there and find it yourself. ????
  7. That decision is down to the bank. All of mine are delivered by post, but to a UK address and then couriered to me. My friend's bank would only deliver to his home address (from HK). The other two important documents are also 'post only'. Both are 'proof of address'.
  8. Yep. Been delivering here for more than 20 years. Drew the maps and everything. Just stopped this year??? Looking at the piles and piles of letters in the office, it's a sorting office problem. We are expected to go and look for ourselves.
  9. No. I always thought that he was rubbish.
  10. How about a largish floor standing fan to blow the smoke/smell away from your balcony?
  11. Not much of an investigation - Royal Thai navy investigates alleged corruption
  12. Just thought that I would mention that there are large piles of undelivered letters at the sorting office near Makro in Chaweng. A friend is waiting for three very important letters (one is a replacement credit card). He went to the sorting office and was told to 'look in the back room'. Lots of undelivered post. Lack of staff since Covid. He eventually received six letters going back to January (including the cc) but still a lot missing. Up here at the pointy end of Samui, people that I talk to say that they have received no post all year.
  13. I assume that the scandal is the small portion on his plate.
  14. I disagree. When you shop in house, your get the product that you want at the price that you want, when you want it. And you can pay in cash without putting dodgy apps on your phone. Reading all of the complaints around the place, that is not always true with online shopping.
  15. Simple answer - We get less rain here on the peninsular than the rest of Samui. Something to do with the hills and the channel between Samui and KPN. The house is 23 years old. I did not know of this phenomenon back then. (No rain since February here.) I did have a 3,000 litre tank collecting rainwater but there was never enough than for garden watering - for a while. I do not have enough room for 15 water tanks.
  16. iptv is the way to go. Most are using feeds illegally which is why they want 'difficult to trace' payment. You should post on your local forum for local suppliers and ratings.
  17. Thank you CanadaSam I do not see how anyone can watch this clip and not smile. Staff here were all laughing when I showed it to them.
  18. I do not have a limit (yet) with my online banking. This is on both private and business accounts. (BAY)
  19. When I dug my well, I had the water tested. It was potable but high in iron. (That is why there is usually a brown residue building up in the water tanks.) Now, the water quality is much worse. We have recently filled up a swimming pool. .
  20. Stayed in a hotel in Chaweng some time in 2000 whilst building my house. Yep - drought even back then. No water. Hotel provided free bottled water for flushing and washing. I would mention that it was not a five star hotel. Six Senses built a desalination plant. (Desalinated water plays havoc with swimming pools.) Not sure what happened to it but for the last two years they have had water trucks delivering 24/7. Nora Buri and the Nora beach also have water trucks 24/7. Nora Buri have so many trucks that the road collapsed last year and a truck rolled into the 'jungle'. It collapsed where the trucks stop and unload the water.
  21. Rubbish. Real people are being careful with their money because of employment uncertainty and high inflation.
