  1. If the car is not from one of big rental companies, it probably does not have car rental insurance. (It is different.) Very few of the local companies here have car rental insurance. They just insure as their own car. If you have an accident, you cannot say that it is a rental. A close friend of mine fell into that trap last month. She has rented a car from the same (local) guy for more than 20 years. She rents for three months whilst she is here. He always said that she had full insurance. Last month she had a minor accident - guy on a scooter ran into the back of her. She had to pay 10,000 baht to the guy and pay for the repair. The accident wasn't her fault but because of the wrong insurance...........
  2. Because it is the law here in Thailand. Many other articles have mentioned this. Found items are to be handed in, not sold.
  3. She did notice and went looking for as soon as. She even knew roughly where it was dropped. Schitt happens sometimes in life. Well done to the police for following up on CCTV and recovering it. Owner is happy. Member of staff is happy. Good result.
  4. Poor lady. What to do when those that should protect and serve turn rogue?
  5. Monitor lizards rock! I have had them in the garden and swimming in the pool. (Not these two )
  6. I am not sure how this will affect Business accounts. Luckily I do not use phone apps, but I know lots of others who do use them for their business.
  7. There seems to be a lot more uncontrolled violence in the world these days. Guys and wannabe gals have short fuses. (All nationalities.)
  8. For my 'best friend', it was two injections (at home). The first to relax him and the second to say goodbye. He went peacefully to sleep and never woke up. No more pain.
  9. I used to live on Soi 16 in an older apartment block. Damned if I can remember the name though. Sorry. Just came back to me - Lin Court. Just found it on the internet. Warning - it did not look that 'posh' when I lived there so rents may be stupid now. http://www.lin.co.th/lin-court/
  10. Maybe he should contact Chuwit for the evidence. (I hope that he is still alive.)
  11. Maybe 100% of rich and corrupt Thais and of course the higher up military that he tried to curtail?
  12. But why only target illegal sellers near schools etc? E cigarettes are illegal everywhere - or does Anutin just like to hang out near schools and universities.
  13. And that lack of stability is nothing to do with the latest little 'song and dance'. The government has been unstable since it used Section 112, and other nefarious means to get into power.
  14. Many Thais that I spoke to when he was in power, said the same thing.
  15. I used to pay 7,500 baht Land and House tax years ago (20 years or more?). Then it stopped. Below is a bill that has just been paid for a friend. Bought the land in 2022, the house was completed in 2024. (It is big house.) 1 Land and House tax Y2024 4,512.00 2 Land and House tax Y2023 2,876.40 3 Land and House tax Y2022 2,010.10
  16. Last week, I had a couple of the Land and House tax bills, and here on Samui it is still calculated by land size and whether or not there is a house there.
  17. The only problem with using the ID card is that my name there is written in Thai (phonetic translation I think). It does not match my boarding card where my name is in English
  18. My Thai DL was accepted as recently as last month when I flew Samui to Phuket. I always use my Thai DL. Same as when renting motorbikes and they ask for passport. I do not carry my passport on domestic journeys - only a copy.
  19. If your own vet will not do it, maybe ask them who will. But you may need to get the record from your current vet. Here on Samui, vets will only euthanise the dogs where there are records. Something to do with the strict rules on them obtaining the relevant drugs. I have had to say goodbye to two of my 'best mates, and friends have also had no problems, but a neighbour did have a problem with a street dog that adopted him. The vet had to say no as there was no medical history.
  20. It is strange that some vets will not help at this time in the life of your dog. Good luck at this sad time.
  21. I agree with Sheryl. At the expensive private hospital near me, I tell the docs that I self insure. They usually write down the 'prescription' on a scrap of paper and I take it to the pharmacy. Sometimes it takes a while for the treatment to arrive, but never failed yet.
  22. All of the rich and powerful ethnic Chinese Thais that have been pushing the 'China' agenda (behind the scenes) do not care about Thailand. They only care about wealth, power and China.
