China-made diesel locomotives handed over to Thailand
Enoon replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
They were originally destined for the Ukraine? But that would annoy their new best mates, so they diverted them en route and made up a story about them being built for Thailand? -
"For ordinary Thais, the news was flabbergasting, as they normally consider Finland to be a paradise and one of the world’s most liveable countries, with everything at a high standard. Clean air, great education, nice forests and no human rights violation, let alone human trafficking." ............and they thought they'd escaped and left all that **** behind them? "These are familiar stories for Thai labourers overseas." .............and also for immigrant labourers in Thailand. Hopefully the ordinary Thais will have taken note as to how it has been dealt with in Finland, and will demand similar justice in their own country, for foreigners in similar circumstances.

New COVID Cases Rise among Foreign Tourists in Phuket
Enoon replied to snoop1130's topic in Phuket News
The same Russia whose citizens, a couple of months ago, the Thai tourism Minister was desperate to have back to save the industry? Maybe he knows "what they're like" and was really talking on behalf of the health "business"? -
Bamars are now fighting against the Tatmadaw.. The Bamar are the largest, dominant, ethnic group......that you describe as "The Burmese". They make up the bulk of: People's Defence Force (Myanmar) - Wikipedia It is the military component of the legitimate government. It is actively co-operating with the ethnic minority resistance: "the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) in the north, the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) and the Karenni Nationalities Defence Force (KNDF) along the Thai border, have offered sanctuary and training" Why once peaceful protesters are now choosing violence - "The PDF has now publicly apologised to ethnic militias for previously believing military propaganda that the groups had wanted to dismantle the country. The PDF is now unanimously calling for a future federal state in which everyone will have equal rights." The deadly battles that tipped Myanmar into civil war - BBC

New "Test and Go" program only for Bangkok?
Enoon replied to wpcoe's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I used the company to get my TP. I often look at the site. It is a new message, appearing in the last 2-3 days. It is misleading to say that they offer T&G. They are just agents advertising for the hotels. AFAIK the only thing they sell direct to customers is the TP application service.........which was very good. -
No 1 lesson of Buddhist Metaa (loving kindness) is to forgive and show compassion to yourself. Double whammy is that you get away with it because others consider themselves "bad" if they don't adhere to the next stages and exercise forgiveness towards you. Very different to that old "eye for an eye" stuff so beloved of "Westerners". Yes, that's right, it has dramatic implications concerning the way Thai society, at every level, structures itself and its intrapersonal realtionships very differently to the West. Welcome to Thailand. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maitrī

Oil spill in Rayong leads to 4,000 room cancellations on Samet
Enoon replied to webfact's topic in Eastern Thailand
Last weeks announcements, that the slick would be gone in 7-10 days, failed to mention that it would be all over the beaches instead. -
Why would their target market want to own homes/land in Thailand? It is quite an uncomfortable place to live, "holistically" speaking, when compared to the sort of places that market already has access to. For a start it's a ******* furnace for half the year. What is the number 1 reason that the lower income foreigners, bewailing their inability to obtain long-term security of ownership of property/land in Thailand, really felt compelled to be in Thailand? Does it apply to the sort of "wealthy" foreigners being sought? Clue......it ain't "temples".

Short answer, The Mon. They also originated somewhere up the Yangste: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mon_people Displaced by Tai and Khmer "Thailand" was invented by the Nationalists who overturned the Democratic Revolution of 1932, in the 1933 coup. They also began the process of actively suppressing the multi-ethnic identity of what had previously been known as Siam......"Thaification": https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thaification

I guess that's why he said "once vaccination levels are high enough". Because when they are the chances of many vaccinated (but infected) people becoming debilitatingly/life threateningly ill are greatly reduced...........so we don't have to go around worrying about infecting them. The virus is not going away..........the vaccine enables us not to worry about having it, or passing it on to anyone else.....WHO IS VACCINATED. GEDDIT?

Aq.in.th is a Quarantine/T&G hotel booking agency, they have an assosciate company that will submit TP applications on your behalf. They did mine.

If an infectious disease is widely prevalent it is termed a pandemic. If a disease is always present it is termed endemic. COVID is widely prevalent so it remains pandemic. The fact that Thailand wishes to declare COVID endemic means that Thailand is part of that wide prevalence. Thailand doesn't get to "choose" not to be part of the pandemic.........nobody does.

Prayut to find Thai workers to fill Saudi labour shortage
Enoon replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
"Karma"? For who exactly? Barely literate, badly educated, dirt poor Thai peasants? Don't you think they have "enough" already? Maybe you think Prayuth, his masters, and the people delivering what they all consider to be "livestock", will be wringing their hands in anguish as it is being mistreated? They couldn't give a ****. -
Anyway, back to the subject of the OP, which is not "Are EVs a good or a bad thing?" Ridiculous implication in the headline and the article that Thailand is setting the agenda for the transformation of Japanese car manufacture. There are no Thai cars being manufactured........Thais are employed by Japanese manufacturers to build Japanese designed cars. The EV agenda is set according to international governmental decisions. The Japanese car manufacturers are going to build only EVs. Thailand will do what it's told to. On the other hand it is a great time for start ups..........there's no mystery about manufacturing a box and putting a wheel at each corner.......China is awash with new manufacturers. No reason why Thailand couldn't do it..............????
-
Don't waste your time and energy defending EVs. They don't need it........they are a done deal. The sort of people opposing them would have opposed the ideas of this man: Their attitude is frequently age related and nothing to do with "reason". It is their "state of mind". Congratulations if you are over 35 and still possess the ability to change yours.

"Popa Lazarous Langur"? -
Hands on or off is not what causes accidents. Driver included phone conversations in cars are the real problem. See if you can work out why by comparing their random structure, about anything and with anyone, and its potential for dangerous loss of concentration, with conversations which are virtually pre-programmed, in aircraft, about the activity of flying the aircraft, between pilots and the only agency they are likely to be talking to beyond the cockpit......ATC. Do not try to do it while you are driving.

A gift of a "co-star": Attractive, young, metroploitan woman, in a "virtuous" occupation, from middle class family. A "worthwhile", "good", person..........as opposed to the usual livestock who make up the bulk of victims. I'm assuming that it how it is seen in the minds of the majority of, specifically, "correct thinking", "indignant" and "outraged" Thais. Definitely so in the minds of Thai journalists.

I did it Monday, 24th. Consideration stamp and extension stamp issued at the same time. ie. Consideration stamp was dated 24th instructing me to return on 24th. Underneath that stamp was the extension stamp, dated 24th, extending my stay until 6th April. Original TR expiry was 5th February. My IO ahead of the game? That would be nice for many. We shall have to wait and see.
