funny that the stabbing of two Muslim women didn't make the news here, probably because it was white women stabbing "dirty Arabs" (their exclamation at the time of incident) - not surprising though..

    the quarrel about a dog?

I have news for you: another Newspaper (La Nouvelle République) has been threatened for publishing the cartoons - not surprising though...

Republicans preference for voting in person on Nov 3 stand to take in high risks. You pointed out one of the problem. The rapidly deteriorating covid situation will complicate in-person voting and then you have to consider related staffing issues, technology problems and the weather can all contribute to a chaotic polling day. The Dems and independents who make up the majority of early voters are safer bets for the tally Biden count. Trump's strategy to his Republican supporters to vote in person may backfire on him.

Thanks, another question I have is : due to the 4 times zones in the US, will partial exit polls results be allowed to be given if voting is still ongoing - voters having to wait for hours after official closing time - on the west coast?

Thank you Trump for turning off the people  who will come out in droves to vote you out.

if on November 3rd, earlybirds voters start queueing for hours to cast their ballots in person, and the turnout is so massive that still in the waiting line some voters are unable to proceed before closing time, what happens?

As usual, the actions of the extreme Islamists ends up causing more damage to the religion and it's people. I understand Muslims get upset when they see images of Muhammad but Buddhists also get upset seeing Buddha being used for decoration. It's the response from the extreme elements that is worrying.

I don't have any problem with the vast majority of Muslims. I have close Muslims friends who have integrated to western society. They have not been happy with any of the terrorist attacks either.

Yes if everyone cared about their own case and educated their souls without trying to force others into heaven, the world would be better off.

  5. The 13 regions of France have taken the initiative to publish a book of political and religious caricatures for high schools, in reaction to the assassination of teacher Samuel Paty.

“We are going to ask a college of historians to put into perspective the right to caricature in the political history of our country.,“By this gesture, while respecting our skills, we want to bear witness to our commitments to defend the values of the Republic and the fundamental right of each and every one of our fellow citizens to live in peace and freedom.

where do you think he got the motivation from then to shout Allah is greatest and then to execute a man mocking Mohammad, as he saw it? The lone wolf/nutcase excuse is always used, but after a few thousand attacks it looks a bit thin. The Quran and life of Mohammad was his motivation, he was being devout and true to the teachings of Islam, we are just lucky most followers don't go through with it but just cheer from the sidelines.

In this case - through facebook, twitter - parents and a Mosque triggered the fatwa against the teacher.

It is reported that the killer contacted the student's father author (along with an Islamist activist) of the videos (3), that later were published on the Mosque's facebook page.

They were not the followers - but the killer was as  last link of this chain.

We owe the truth to Samuel PATY, the teacher.

Whereas telling her she can't choose to so do is enshrining it?

The Great Pantin Mosque - the one that supported and published the call to go after the teacher on its facebook page ( removed after it led to the the teacher's beheading) is now beeing under temporarily closure threat  (which solves nothing)

The daughter of the imam who promoted what now other imams themselves - after the killing- recognized was a "fatwa" declared against the teacher -  goes to a "school" - with no teacher - where children (2-6 y.o) wear hijab... what a choice - no real teacher  but hijab - in short : a jail.

And there are still people - in France (I repeat non Muslim country)  who pretend this is "choice" -

Why choose to live in France? - that is the REAL question.

I'm really not going to comment much....EXCEPT...

before you criticize another country, worry about your own.  i've seen this sooo much from farangs in Thailand.  oh, every country is the worst....except their own.  yea, ok.  every country has massive problems.  let's worry about our own country first.  i'm sure many people bash France as they simply forget about what's happening back "home."

Most French bashing come from people living in France, too

This is SO much fun, eh?

    - because if in France a man forces his wife to live like she'd be obliged to in S.A, she can refuse and tell him it's not legal - isn't that great?

(our government also prepares a ban on virginity certificates)

  10. "Teenager PAYED (not only "asked") pupils to identify French teacher before beheading him"

    Update from French Press:

"When he arrived in front of the Bois-d'Aulne college on Friday, equipped with two knives and an Airsoft-type handgun, Abdouallakh Anzorov had indeed resorted to an unusual process for a terrorist: equipped with several hundreds of euros, he approached college students by offering them money in exchange for information. The sum then circulated from hand to hand. One of the 15-year-old students was taken into custody for this reason on Sunday."

The backlash will be bloody and disproportionate. No sympathy for Muslims from me.

    Not necessarily.

All that led to this is very clear in people's minds.

What we need is changes in our Constitution that allow us to sanction and go after those who hate us on our very soil by abusing our democratic laws against us.

Something like starting with ... "no individual or no group may invoke his origin or his religion to exempt himself from the common rule".

    Ah... but not THAT religion.

the citizen being free to believe whatever he or she likes all religious expression must be kept out of the public sphere  (schools, hospitals, workplaces, official buildings, post office, shopping malls, etc, etc...)

If you impose to my kid going to school a teacher or any staff with religious face covering, it's not permitted by law.

    It's as simple as that.

Wouldn't those pointing out the teacher to the Muslim murderer be accessories to that murder?

    Absolutely.

They were both lying - and designating the Teacher to the vindictiveness of the audience they sent/share, their video to - knowing there were islamists among the believers.

As usual and of course everybody condemns the killing now that the job is done.

AFAIK, noone expressed any form of regrets for participating to the organized "believers action class" that led to the final sanction which was predictable, an other terror attack related to Charlie Hebdo occured 3 weeks before.

It must be reminded that the Teacher showed cartoons of all religions to debate about Free Speech.

I would assume any instruction to kill in this case, if any, came from an Islamist source; assume police investigation will uncover any organised attack.

In the Quran, there is "no statement from the prophet requesting his image not be recorded," Abdul-Malik told CNN.

    https://edition.cnn.com/2015/05/04/living/islam-prophet-images/index.html

In any case you likely know there are countless hadiths / interpretations of the Koran. So far as I've read don't recall anyone on this forum condoning / supporting the murder. Accordingly enough of our 'debate' in this topic, rather constant repetition, for me going nowhere.

The topic isn't about Koran's interpretations.

The topic is about French values and critical thinking.

The topic is about what is toxic to our Nation when Teaching becomes a dangerous sport.

Nothing for me to further consider based on the above. I have not, nor have ever expressed support for any violent ideological extremism. What about you? I guess you support modern day French right of centre ideology (based upon the undertone of your posts) which incorporate elements of violence and acts contrary to the Rule of Law. Please forgive me if I'm incorrect.

So in short: you condemn the killing  ("any violent ideological extremism")

    But we are in France:

    - a non Muslim country

    - a Republic where Religion is separated from State

    - where Religion is a private matter

    - with: Free speech and No Blasphemy Law

And what this killing is:  purely and simply the application of the Sharia Law

What I do condemn is the long chain of reactions (that you wouldn't define as "any violent ideological extremismé) - that caused and led to this teacher's beheading .

I condemn the arm holding the sword - not the sword.
