Transport SRT Sets Stage for KiHa Train Testing by End of June
SpaceKadet replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
It's B.E. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thai_solar_calendar -
Personally, I have put 1 million baht (200k as an emergency fund) in a fixed account and haven't touched it for 3 years since I started using retirement extension. The only transactions there is the yearly interest and taxes on it. Never had any complaints from the IO, but I understand that not everybody is able to do that. To the IO, I submit only standard account statement from the bank, and copy of the bankbook. Didn't know that the bankbook copy was valid for 2 days. Thought they wanted it done the same day as extension application. Will definitely try it next time.

Polish Couple Fined for Public Nudity on Koh Phangan
SpaceKadet replied to Video News's topic in Video News and Updates
Not too long ago, all rural Thai women were walking bare chested. That was considered normal. Of course, everything changed with the arrival of the prude Chinese to control the country.... -
Or, to express it in the Games Theory terminology, it's a "Zero Sum Game".

I must say that I really like those ThumbsDown smilies. Well done mods for that addition! At least I know now that what I'm posting hits the nerves of the lowlifes on this forum. -

To quote Sting: "I'm and Alien, I'm a Legal Alien..." In your country it doesn't matter anymore, you can be incarcerated and deported just by farthing in the wind.... no matter legal or not, Just read that a wife of a US Coast Guard member was deported. Why don't you just deport Melania? Is she really legal? -

Yeah, I do read a lot of comments from many military news sources. Most agree that Americas military might just lost the edge against China. And you have yourselves to blame, allowing all those Chinese spies working in your defense industry. How come that J-20 looks just like a copy of F22 Raptor? -

What is World Cup? And what is Superbow? I have no idea what you're spouting about. You must be one on those Muricans speaking in some foreign dialect. Didn't you know that you're supposed to use only English on this forum? -

And I think that he's slowly starting to realize that apart from being able to bully the weaker countries, his true opponents just ignore him. Putin is just toying with Donald, and Xi is giving him the middle finger. There will be no end to the Ukraine/Russia war until Putin says so, and Xi will just bring American economy to its knees, without even exerting himself very much. Goodbye America, you are no longer number one country, and soon you'll be at the bottom of the pile, technologically, economically, and socially. That is the price to pay for your corporate greed. You will no longer be the biggest military power, that role is reserved for China now, and Europe in not so distant future. Economically, other countries will dominate you, like China, Japan, and even the EU. The reality is not your scripted TV show.... Actions have consequences (and equality opposed reactions! Newtons third law of motion) I just feel sorry for the other 50% of the US citizens that did not vote for that POS. But hey, you can always emigrate, you'll be welcome in Europe, like so many famous Americans (Grandma Tina springs to mind, and some of my closest friends). -

I there ever has been bigger narcissistic megalomaniac than the current POTUS, apart from Napoleon and Hitler, I'm not aware of it. And guess what, he changed the color of his MAGA hat from the communist red, to white.... -
I think your mind is still in your home country. A dollar an hour is a standard minimum wage here, that can make you survive for a month and feed your family. We're not in Kansas anymore, Toto...

I never tip in restaurants. It's a bad habit instituted by the Americans. Unfortunately they brought it with them when they started traveling to Europe and Asia. I understand that in the America there are TIP APPS that will let you calculate how much you should tip. And anything below 25% is a NO-NO. So what? The restaurants in the States do not pay their staff? I can understand where is comes from, where long time ago, the low level employees in the hotels and restaurants and other service establishments were supposed to live of their tips, but nowadays? In Thailand, nobody in the service industry expects tips. However, my wife still leaves the coins change in the restaurants. Sometimes, it gets really stupid, and where there is only 1 baht coin in the change, I just say "Take it!"

Swede's Split-Second Distraction Triggers Buriram Accident

If I had a water bottle drop in front of me while I was driving, I would definitely stop to pick it up and not try to fumble for it while driving. But then I have been driving in my work a lot in the past, in awkward weather conditions at times, so know that safety is first... -
Pope Francis has died at the age of 88, the Vatican has announced.
SpaceKadet replied to Social Media's topic in World News
RIP Papa! While I'm an Atheist and don't believe in all this mumbo jumbo Godly BS, the Pope as a religious leader, always commanded respect from his followers, and in some cases was a force of good for many, in the twisted human societies. No matter who sits on the Vatican throne, in my mind, it's always sad when they pass..... -
THAI's Sky-High Deal: 45 Dreamliners to Revamp Fleet
SpaceKadet replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Since the bean counters took over and kicked out the engineers, Boeing is no longer the respected high tech aerospace company it once was. Recent 737 Max crashes and the Starliner fiasco tell a true story. I wouldn't trust any new product from that manufacturer. I'll just repeat what I said in another thread: "If it's Boeing, I ain't going..." -
Former Trump Lawyer , now NJ DA to investigate New Jersey Governor

So what you're saying is that American citizens in New Jersey, that didn't vote MAGA, are not really American citizens, and should be deported to some Venezuelan prison? -

Yeah, recognize the face now. Might have her in some Moana Pozzi movies. Don't know which ones though as she was not on my Porn idols list. Seems she did quite a few movies for the American producers in the 80's. -
Bangkok Building Collapse Sets Unwanted World Records
SpaceKadet replied to snoop1130's topic in Bangkok News
You should be aware that the vast majority of the construction companies, and in fact any major company, is owned by Thai Chinese or Chinese from the mainland. Would be difficult to avoid them. Chinese are infamous to use sub-standard materials to maximize their profits. Recent examples, the baby formula containing only chemicals with no nutrition whatsoever (many babies died), melamine laced milk, etc. There are hundreds of examples, too many to mention. The same goes for construction, lowest quality steel rebars, lowest quality concrete.... you name it... Just lucky China is not on a major fault line. I just wonder how many skyscrapers in BKK have cracks, that get silenced with fat brown envelopes.
