If they want to make a convincing argument about something you go to meetings and put that argument forward, not boycott the meeting and flounce off in a hissy fit. The Democrats situation with regards this meeting they decided to boycott, seems somewhat similar. If they agreed to participate in the meeting, they would be forced to accept the terms and conditions, and would not be given a platform or an opportunity to argue against the terms and conditions.
