  1. Wow I am a bit surprised buy that 12000 km oil changes.

This is not synthetic oil is it?

There was one other I suppose at 1000km so basically 11,000KM/6835 miles since last change

Folks can follow the Honda recommend I'm sure as they designed it.

But I tend to go 3200KM/2000 miles on my bikes & change. Old habits I guess.

  2. No. It is a super good looking bike. Nice touches everwhere. Has strong engine and cool suspension and brakes on the paper.

I am just sad as it is too heavy for my needs. Otherwise, it should be a nice city bike, more aggressive and good looking than a ducati for sure and offers better value for money for me.

You know that comparison is an interesting one to make...

Meaning the Ducati Monster 795 & the Kawasaki Z800

I have said before, this will be the comparison because, they are after all very close

in many ways so I expect Kawasaki will probably price it that way too.

But, last night out of curiosity I looked at the numbers of the two bikes & they

    are REALLY close smile.png

    Check this out....

Of course a lot will depend if Thailand gets a unrestricted 800 meaning the full 111 Horsepower

But even if they do look at these numbers,

Ducati Monster 795 = 86 HP & wet weight of 368 lbs so a power to weight ratio of 0.23

    Kawasaki Z800 = 111 HP & a wet weight of 504 lbs so a power to weight ratio of 0.22 !

Ducati torque in ft pounds = 58

Kawasaki torque in ft lbs = 61

Last but not least a number I like to watch eh Bore/Stroke number

Personally I like bikes that are 1.50 & higher like the 600RR bikes & bigger like Panigale

But even my N250 is 1.50

    Ducati B/S#= 1.33

    Kawasaki = 1.39

Everyone tends to automatically assume a 4cyl with spin up faster & higher than a twin & that is usually

the case. But if the bore & Stroke is a certain ratio twins can also spin & 4's can end up more torque driven too.

So at the end of the day one can see these two are really close eh?

Initially the full power Z800 looks way better but given its weight the power to weight

tends to normalize it & it actually a hair under the Ducati

Interesting? What do you guys think? smile.png

Oh thanks will go watch that piece now.

I have looked & looked this year & just not been able to get any of it.

That ITV4 thing shuts me down with wrong country sorry not allowed sad.png

I figured I would wait & someone would post some.

Looks good though from the reports I have seen, Dunlop had

a really good year & I hope to see that killer lap he put in

when John McG said he was really surprised when Dunlop flew by & he had no answer for him.

    Thanks

  4. I wanna confirm that it says 2012 in year of make. But the date of registration is 2013. But the year of make of this bike is 2013 isn't? ?

    Your a bit confused

When speaking about a vehicle there are many terms

You are asking the date of manufacture.....Then of course if sold in early 2013 it will likely be 2012

How else can they sell a bike in Jan 2013 if not?

BUT......That is not the same as the Model Year which is 2013 or 2556

So it is a Honda Model 2013 CBR500r

Date of Manufacture will of course likely be in 2012 if bought in the first half of 2013

That does not make it any less a 2013 Model

Date of manufacture is not the same as Model Year for bikes or cars etc.

Lastly you will also have date of FIRST Registration which in your case of course will also be 2013/2556

  5. Yeah that's what I thought. If anyone here got 2013 in their book please state it here. Thx.

You may not have 2013 in your green book on page 4 but how about page 5?

Does it show a Thai Month & the year 2556? If so that is 2013

If it shows 2055 then 2012

Also on page 4 upper left corner may have 2556 after day & month in Thai also which is date of reg ( วันจดทะเบียน )

It would not affect your resale price as there is no such bike as a 2012 CBR500 X or F etc

I'm gonna try to ask my gf or someone in my buildings office to read it for me so I can check it out.

You dont have too as numbers are in English smile.png

Yes but Buddhist Year so look for 2556 or 2555....Which do you see?

  6. so due to a harsh and high vibrating engine, they have to rubber mount it.

So, instead of developing a smoother engine with less vibration - this way they can use it as a stressed member so can go for a lighter aluminum frame - they have chosen to go with the old tech engine with rubber mounts therefore additional steel braces for an already heavy steel frame.

Bravo kawa! Is that what we deserve in Thailand? C'mon!

Actually that rubber mounting is standard now on many bikes.

Does not mean it is a bad bike or build in any way.

Actually that Kawa Z800 is getting very good reviews.

Not really my cup of tea but a nice bike with a nice tone

  7. Yeah that's what I thought. If anyone here got 2013 in their book please state it here. Thx.

  8. At this Bangkok Bank webpage on fixed accounts they address the multiple deposits to the same fixed savings account...look on the right hand side of the page for below quote/cut & paste:

    Do you know?

You can add multiple deposits to the same account. This gives you the advantage of not having to carry more than one passbook. If you add your deposits over a period of time they will mature at different times which gives you more flexibility when it comes to withdrawing your money.

Yes that is true & also if you want to make the multiple deposits into the same account on the same day that is also fine.

So maturity on all are the same but you have the option of breaking just a fraction of a time deposit not the whole if you should

suddenly find you need some of those funds back before maturity.

  9. The topic that this post was moved from had many people highlighting "Assist" and the latter posts about it said the company had begun to charge 1500 baht for the 90-day reports for those not using them also to do the annual extensions.

Actually what it was is they started charging more for "new" customers.

Not customers that did not do their annual with them.

As I only have them do my 90 days & do my annual myself.

But because I started with them before they became popular ( wish I had kept my mouth shut smile.png )

They still charge me 1000 THB per year or 1000 for 4/90 day reports

My main caution is the lack of bond that the company has responsibility that if failed does not end up in my being at risk with the folks at immigration. ... secondarily to what happens to my data in outside hands, and down at third as to the price (in its current price range)

Well yes I guess I could worry about such things although TIT & even buying a condo/car etc does not afford the protections many of us westerners are use to.

Be that as it may I do not see such risks in 90 day reporting. They do them for me ahead of time. If they for some reason did not I guess I could be charged 2k baht fine. But considering the numbers of happy customers I am not worried.

Secondly as to giving out info? I sign 4/90 day reports same as anyone else.

If you mean the visa service is somehow selling my info or misusing it in some way....I cannot imagine it being of any use to anyone.

Not to mention have you ever looked on the back of any scrap papers Immigration themselves use?

There you will find much interesting reading about others smile.png

Down at third as to price, as I said for me it is 1000 baht per year or 4/90 day reports I do not have to do.

Yes 2.7 baht a day I can part with no problem. Although even if I were one of the customers paying 1500 THB a year I would gladly pay the 4.1 baht per day smile.png

As others have said they enjoy the task then I would not be asking them why they do not use an agent.

But really,,,, risk element, as some say, or price elements,, I do not see nor have any fears/problems in this regard.

  10. Is the 450,000 in the picture the price it will be? If so then a lot more than elsewhere which is surprising as made in Thailand.

Well I think in this size their main competition is only the Ducati 795 Monster?

Also made in Thailand & roughly the same size.

Ducati Thailand has done away with the Non-ABS Monster 795 so their cheapest

    Thai bike is 440k

But yes would be great if they priced it down from there.

And I think they do retail in the UK for 7500 GBP equal to 350k THB

    But the 650N is 291k now & the Z1000 is 660k

My guess is yes it will be right in that Ducati price range

Maybe just under 400k if they want to spike it but they may shoot themselves in the foot

    for 650 sales.

  11. you can see the bike graveyard at Honda Bigwing as well and that number of damaged bikes are rising on my every visit!!!

...and half of these are going to be sold after they get fixed

    If there are buyers. biggrin.png

How low does one have to price a H500 or K650 just to sell it nowadays!

    2011 N650 with 25k km can't go on bahtsold @ only 165k baht.

    2012 N250 decked out with 25k baht of extras @ 105k baht.

The guy on here with a new H500 can't shift it for 190k.

    Saturated market.

Is true & somewhat a Thai deal too because of the fact Thai's dont have the lump cash & like to finance.

Financing a new bike is very easy.

But also in regards to the two Kawasaki's you mentioned those are both pre-big change years.

The 2012 650 went to a much better dual seat look & the 2013 250 that is like a whole different bike from the 2012

The Honda 500's will be interesting to see what they fetch price wise. My guess would be 170-180k

The funny thing with many sellers here is how they like to list registration & insurance costs.

2nd hand buyers dont care that you paid that & that is not something you can pass off easily.

If you want insurance money ride it till it expires.

Only in Thailand do I see sellers list every thing they ever did to the bike then try & get most of it back

    including insurance & reg heheheh

The only thing worse is all the Thai's with bad financing looking for someone to take over payments + give them back

their deposits. The totals on these are always higher than a new bike for gods sake

  12. I wouldn't go as far as saying the "best in C.M." O.K. but nothing special.

Well of course taste is a personal thing but for us it is the Best in CM

If you know of anywhere that is better we would be glad to give them a try too.

We have tried Dukes, Koh Lanta but none have come close to Mama Mia

I use to work at a pizzeria decades ago where we flipped out own dough & the owner learned

in Italy as Joe at Mama Mia's did similar crust I would say

For me good crust has a certain smell & texture. Slightly salty taste hard to describe as I am not good

at describing food but I do know good when I taste it biggrin.png

But I should also add I eat the Salami Pizza at Mama Mia's

  13. True. But in many countries they have a tiered bike license to try and alleviate these problems. Admittedly many of the broken bikes are actually the lower part of the tiered system rolleyes.gif

But they do have better training.

    True about the tiered license

I am from the USA & folks can walk in & buy anything they want.

Kind of scary but to be fair folks with cash can also go buy a Ferrari

Like you say these are low power ( relatively ) yet still plenty capable of

letting things happen very fast for new riders.
