If you land just right, those small frame sliders can become 'frame breakers' as they provide an easy pivot-point to put a lot of stress in a single spot.
Yes I cringe whenever I see those single or close together double point mounts
-
That is very interesting about the coconut water.
Learned something new
Thanks
-
I have seen it mania. It looks stronger and better than k speed ones as it is connecting from three different mount points. But it blocks the beautiful engine and people say their knees are touching it. I am not sure for this though.
Yes I do not know the brand. Price is low though.
I do like that style of impact distribution over a wider area
than those single bolt types
Mine has an even larger area covered by the plate which I like.
Mine are no problem position wise & as for blocking the motor I have full fairings
so no matter

after all, i am also thinking of buying k speed 5000 thb pipe - but not the cnc one as it looks like a knock off two bros and do not like the design.
tired of waiting something and there is a possibility of Honda releasing a cbr650r in Thailand next year so do not want to make lots of expense as if they release it, i might trade my bike.
Arrow is making some of their usual beautiful exhausts for the Honda 500 range now too
Arrow full system is never cheap though
But they have slip-on or slip on with a new mid pipe & also the full system
-
Those tank bolts don't look so bad now with that dampener bracket on it
Dressed it up a lot
-
Dainese short IOM commercial of sorts but video 3 was cool to see Carl again
-
I got the CNC exhaust from K-Speed yesterday. Great sound, lovely roar.
Hi there. Where in Bkk is K-Speed?

I'm actually not clear what the thread is about...?
As Bruce would say "Glory Days"

Yes it is true the west is a candy store for bike buyers.
Also accessories is so competitive you get excellent deals on close outs

What colour are the moons on your planet Alan?Your better off selling before you leave. I have tested/Xrayed, several pieces of 96.5 gold, and all tested to be 92.5. One exception was my sister's gold ingot she had with her from the USA. It was suppose to be pure gold, and it measured 99.9% on the same xray machine.
In testing silver I have tested maybe 40 pieces, and only one piece was less than 92.5%. Some as high as 97%.
I have a feeling they are 92% gold in color
-
Congrats
That CNC is a nice looking can
Pretty much same as Two Brothers
-
At the price of gold today 4 ounces would be over the 50,000 baht limit for personal use.
I think you are confusing laws
When they say 50k baht they mean 50k Thai currency specifically as in notes
I have not looked recently but it use to be a limit of 500k to neighboring countries & 50k to all other countries.
Again I am speaking of Thai Baht Currency
-
Of course the ER6N is also a modern bike and I'm sure it is lovely to ride as well, but I would guess that 2 similarly competent riders on each machine would be pretty close in a canyon race.
You could be Wong
Sorry couldn't resist
Actually in a canyon race with riders of equal ability the Kawasaki 650 would wax any of the 3 Honda 500's
That is not to say they are not all great bikes.
But there is much more to it.
If you look at hp & torque of course that is obvious but also power to weight wise the
Kawasaki has a 50% whopping advantage & I do mean whopping because 50% is just that when it comes to bikes
power to weight ratios.
I am assuming when you say canyon it has sections that you need to shift more than once between turns.
It may start put close but with equal ability riders the 650 will walk away in a short while I guarantee it
But I am not saying size is everything & personally I now ride a N250

Wow that is a lot of difference in those specs Wantan posted
Aside from, bore,stroke,compression & 4 valves vs 2

Not sure how the suzuki bankruptcy is coming but it would be at the bottom of my list until their status is better known.
Actually I think it was a restructuring & mainly the American subsidiary of Suzuki Motor Corporation that shut down/went bankrupt.
I think they have now separated the motorcycle division out of the faltering US car sector onto its own
Saw this last month

Thats a nice pr article but still doesnt give me confidence. I was told that suzuki has closed bike dealerships in various places in america. I am sure this is part of their restructuring. Suzuki may very well survive and produce many great bikes in the future. Again with honda, yamaha and kawasaki all producing similar machines why take a chance on a future headache.
Anything is possible but I just don't see Suzuki Motorcycles going under anytime soon
Yesterday they debuted their new MotoGP bike in Barcelona.
On its first public run out, Randy de Puniet clocked a time of 1’42.676, just over three quarters of a second off the time set by Lorenzo, an impressive debut.
It was no small task to get back into GP either. Once Kawasaki & Suzuki left they made it pretty tough for them
to rejoin. But Suzuki was to be back on the grid 2014 but now it seems 2015
With the Millions it takes to run a GP team I don't think the motorcycle sector is in bad shape
as unlike World SuperBikes, MotoGP is not a racing sector that sells bikes per se'
So I think they are probably in pretty good shape.

Well here she is the Suzuki XRH-1
10 nice high rez pics here

Also from another post on same site....
Jorge Lorenzo has topped the timesheets at the end of the Barcelona MotoGP test,
but the talking point of the test was Suzuki. On its first public run out, Randy de Puniet
clocked a time of 1’42.676, just over three quarters of a second off the time set by Lorenzo, an impressive debut.

Personally i agree with garry. After 12 months i will do my own servicing. Kawasaki pattaya does have a feeler guage and torque wrench . When i look at the area between the buildings where they do most of their work i have concerns of their ability.
That said i really like the staff there and regularly chat with them.
Same here in CM..Very nice staff & feels more like friends

Well, most of them own Ducatis for starters - albeit the 795 "entry level" Monster. I interviewed three people at the dealership in the sales, marketing and training departments - if you want to call that funny hearsay. I didn't ask the specific monthly wage - it wasn't really what I was interviewing them about - but "same like good office job" was what I was told, casually in conversation b y the trainer. If I was guessing, I'd take that to mean 30k or thereabout.
But the mechanics are not treated as disposable grease monkeys, from what I could tell, talking to the management and touring the place. According to them, Ducati trains them well (Italians come over to teach them the proper procedures - now I bet those classes would be a hoot to sit in on), and the dealerships want them to stay so they develop an experienced staff.
Since the sales have gone from 1 bike in 2003 (yep, that's what they said!), about 100 bikes in 2010, 200 in 2011, 1,000 units in 2012, and are on track to easily break 2,000 this year, they need as many good mechanics as they can hold onto or it would turn into a nightmare.
Apparently, just as a way off off topic side note, more than 50% of the bikes brought in for repairs are there for cosmetic damage - mostly scratches or dents from a minor tip-over (it is easy to stall the Monster at crawling speeds). Unfortunately, if you own a Ducati, you have to keep it looking spanking, or you lose the right to pose - which is why about 70% of the customers are buying them (according to the sales staff - not made up or 'hearsay'). You can tell by looking at the tyres of the ones in for a service. Most of them have wear patterns of a thin strip down the middle, which indicates that the owners haven't got a clue how (or the courage) to corner the things properly. "Chicken strips" about 4 inches wide.
With all due respect I am linked thru facebook to a few of the main Ducati dealers here & it is not a show of wealth to have a 795 these days as they are all financed. I see an awful lot sold weekly as Ducati Rama3, Ducati Chiang Mai etc. all post a pic of each buyer & there are many
Ducati Chiang Mai goes for the model type shots, Rama 3 with the large key
I will attach samples below
Then after as few as 2 monthly payments many are begging to be bailed out
A "good office" job in Thailand is lucky if you see 12-15k a month.
The Electric & phone companies are sought after ones & they pay that but have a good health plan.
30k? no way.
Banks? The Thai's joke that they are farm girls in air conditioning as the pay is not great either.
The sales being high is mainly due to the Ducati's being fashionable now here with the Thai's & the 795 small
down payment easy financing is the ticket into the club. But as you say & I agree they are not riding them like sport bikes...The majority anyway.
Instead they wear sneaker, tight jeans & a T shirt & cruise mainly.
The only problem is the easy money is the same the US saw years ago & we know where that went.
I feel kind of sorry for the Thai's I see on these plans because they cannot make it really on what is left of their pay.
Then the reality of upkeep hits. Which is why I smiled when I saw the one comment on this thread say maybe they can finance their maintenance costs.

Frame sliders just try to find the type shown with a large distribution plate. RSV or Moth both seem good.
You should get on a CBR500 Thailand type forum as all the shops advertise.
Of course you may need help but your wife can assist
There is always a classified section which shops/sponsors show pics with prices.
Many speak English if you have no Thai ability language wise.
As for the parts off another bike. While not normal per se' At least they are open enough to tell you
& also are probably doing so because as you said you have been waiting.
It is probably done the same in other parts of the world but
they would never openly tell you this.
For an item like the handlebar which I assume is probably just the pipe of the clip-on, or even the whole clip-on
If not scratched or marred....
I would not worry one bit. Over here you need to relax & chill a bit. It will never be robot perfect
but they do try to help as best they can.
Look at the total picture if this is not a cosmetic blemished part or one that ages then what would be the problem of
them taking one off the other? Of course if it was a wear item like brake pads or some engine parts of course not
acceptable. But a bar or peg etc? No problem really for me.
You will get your bike back sooner & can take a relaxing ( hopefully ) ride
