Lol I have not been over here that long we go back to the UK for a few months every summer. I fully understand what we do in the western world is the correct way to behave, but believe me as you found out, it can backfire on you. As other posters have pointed out, Thai's see a farlang and immediately they think money. You mark my words by doing the "right thing" over here only leads to you getting the blame for the accident. Sad but true
Total rubbish.

They did not ban them all outright. If they did TV would no doubt be up in arms saying it's a typical Thai knee-jerk overreaction.
They banned the registration of any new double deckers.

I always use these guys. http://www.businesscardbangkok.com/
Upload your artwork (or use their templates) and within 48 hours they are delivered. 600 baht for 100 but very high quality card: 360g with a matte laminate. Cards feel very sturdy and well made.
Best thing is it saves you having to go to MBK.

Don't use the long term parking. Use the short term parking which is attached to the terminal. No need to book.
It is safe I have left my car there for a week or more at a time. Cost is 250 baht per 24 hours.

Lets hope the next time you come they don't deny you entrance for not having enough money despite you waving 50,000 Baht in front of their faces.
This is what they've been doing.
Yeah, it's terrible. I travel a lot and I've lost count of the number of times I've seen tourists waving 50,000 Baht around, being dragged out of line, denied entry, and sent packing. Must be 50 of them each time, at least. How many have you seen?
I have seen a couple of threads on here of serial visa abusers being denied entry. If you try to live in Thailand using several back to back tourist visas or visa exempt entries then eventually they will put a stop to it. They are already FAR more lenient on them than they would be in the UK.
How many genuine tourists have you heard of being denied entry? Or people on long term visas? I haven't heard of one.
But yeah, turning people away even when waving 50,000 Baht at them......that's what they've been doing. The OP has just been very lucky.
Ridiculous.

They clearly don't teach about logarithmic scale measurements in the Thai education system
If they did they would realise that a 5 to 5.2 releases about 1/1,000,000th of the energy of the 2004 mag 9.1.
Yep, if only everyone was as clever as you. Far better to not be cautious at all and do nothing (and get criticized on here for it).

will be held on April 20th at the Runway 3119 market near the Laem Chabang airport link station. That's a great help, another top report. There is no Leam Chabang airport link station, nor does the airport link go anywhere near Laem Chabang at all.
Perhaps they meant Lat Krabang?

No.

Apparently, the disability activists aren't so enthused about the MRT's accommodations on the new Purple Line...
Like I said, all stations have lifts but the pavements are so awful I am not sure how you are supposed to get to the lifts. But they do all have lifts on either side of the road.
And yes, the ramp to nowhere is an embarrassing joke.

I likewise was going to ask... are they going to remember elevators and escalators for the multi-level stations in this fictional project, or it'll be like BTS in BKK where they still don't have them systemwide.
The BTS was a massive cock up on that front. But to be fair everything built since has lifts as far as I am aware. All MRT stations have lifts, all purple line stations have lifts, all BTS extensions have lifts, the ARL has lifts at all stations.
Not defending them because it was an appalling oversight - many stations didn't even have escalators when it launched - they were added later. But newer systems are designed with lifts and this will be too. Of course the pavements are mostly unusable so not sure how disabled people are supposed to get to the lifts, but they are there.

Money.
Explain how the CAAT banning the 737 Max is related to money. I am sure this is going to be good, can't wait! Try to avoid using the phrase "typical Thai greed" and instead explain your thought process here.
Money?

Temporarily suspended while they continue investigations. It's quite obvious they will extend it and if you genuinely believe Thailand will certify them safe to fly again after a week then you can believe that if it makes you happy.
Lots of other countries issued temporary bans - it is pretty standard.

I remember several people here criticising the Chinese decision saying it is a ridiculous knee jerk reaction purely to punish Boeing, wouldn't have happened if it was an Airbus or a Chinese plane, blah blah blah.
Now Thailand is criticised for being too slow (but still faster than the US themselves).- 3

With the rest of the world issuing months long bans, and even Boeing now agreeing that it will take months to develop & install new software into these planes, a week long ban is ridiculous. What the hell are these dolts thinking!
Do you really think they are banning it for 7 days and then they'll be flying in Thailand again?? It's a ban, it will remain banned until proven airworthy. Lots of countries issued temporary bans. It is highly likely that they will end up not flying again for a long time.
If you want to talk about dolts how about looking to the US? The FAA and Boeing insisting the planes were safe and there was no need to ground them, right up until the cheesy wotsit got involved and grounded them. Pretty shameful behaviour by them. Instead how about giving Thailand some credit for grounding the planes before the gutless US FAA did?
There is a really good documentary on the 787 and Boeing in general from 2014, citing many issues with the company, hidden cameras in their plants, whistleblowing testimony from senior staff, and a disturbing revelation about the huge influence Boeing has over the FAA. Also the amount they spend on lobbyists and giving very lucrative jobs to senior government members is pretty shocking.

bet if that was a farang resisting a cop, they would come out of the woodwork and beat the shit out of him....
Where do you get this ridiculous notion from? There have been so many instances (one at the airport, one in Pattaya - just two from memory) where we see farangs bring very very aggressive towards cops and trying to fight. They were handled with commendable restraint. No violence. No-one got the shit beaten out of them. They were taken, gently, calmly, to sober up then released.
Say what you like about the police here, but they do act with amazing patience and restraint on a regular basis - both to thais and farangs. But of course you are entitled to believe your paranoid nonsense. It's almost an automatic reply on these forums whenever a Thai is treated gently - "if only that was a farang!"
Get over your paranoia.
Just waiting now for someone to bring up the off duty policeman shooting the French guy. Hardly standard procedure.

All the major players have booths at the airport on the arrivals level: Hertz, Avis, Budget, Europcar etc. I wouldn't just turn up and expect to get one though, you can book all of them online and just collect when you arrive. I just booked myself a rental for next week picking up at the airport (I live near there) from Thai Rent A Car. They always seem to be cheaper than the others, good cars, good service; I have used them many times all over the country. https://www.thairentacar.com/index.php/en/

Dam it! I didnt want to watch this rubbish but now im goingnto see it advertised on netflix repeatedly tempting me just to take a gander... The way i see it is very different to the rest of the world. Been here too long. Something about a grown up with a bunch of boys in a cave that makes no logical and moral sense. Enough said. I guess i will have to probably watch it though if its on netflix but realllyyy dont wana.
Come on then, enlighten the rest of the world and tell us how you see it. And please don't tell me it was a set up.

Sorry your positivity is not welcome here. This is a thread for bitter old anti Thai sanctimonious moaners (as are 98% of the other threads on here) - move along please.

If all the other airlines could do it then why Thai air could not?
Because apparently you need permission to overfly the airspace of a country - who'd have thought.
Singapore Airlines, for example, already have air routes over Turkey and Iran - regular routes they use and have permission for. Thai do not. Thai sought permission from China to use a route through their airspace and as soon as that permission was granted they rerouted this way.
You can criticise Thai Airlines for many things (and I do) but people saying this is a failure of the airline because "why didn't they just go a different way" is ridiculous and just typical TV Thai bashing in my opinion; no logic or thought to it, just bash away.- 1

But as clever as they are they probably hedged , gambled and bought at inflated prices.
He then calls 2000 people stranded at the airport a “backlog” as if it where some cargo that would be cleared in the next few days!
The man - like so many before him- is obviously not able to run an airline and should never be allowed to make public statements because he seems not to have grasped that this “backlog” are his customers who will have the choice to fly on other carriers next time.
Singapore airlines arranged alternative routes while Thai Airways canceled it’s flights - says it all - no more comments needed!
Sent from my iPhone using Thaivisa Connect
A bit het up over a word aren't we? Seriously, what else is it? It is a backlog.
And if you read the article you will see that Singapore Airlines already has existing routes over Iranian and Turkish airspace whilst TG does not. Thai sought permission to use Chinese airspace and when it was granted they rerouted.
What do you think they should have done - just set off and go any which way they like? This is not Google Maps where you can drag your cursor and pick a new route.- 4
