I guess you just came to Thailand or tourist who used BTS a few times? Maybe you missed out the June trouble.

As for price, there are cheaper system in other countries, how many system you have tried before?

Well done.  Almost 20 years of superb service and you point out that one incident which is utterly irrelevant is the overall scheme of things.

I agree that it is not affordable for a great many Thais though.

Getting drunk and going home with a stranger at 2:30 in the morning, not just getting drunk.

Ohh goody, you get to make up nonsense and pretend it’s what was said.

    Typical

Now who's making things up?  She did not decide to go home with a stranger.  She was taken to a construction site where he attempted to rape her.

Even the guy himself says he led her away.  She did not decide to go home with the guy.

    Shocking.

The sorry bunch on this forum are those that take a post from another member out of it's context to suit their own agenda.

Now feel free to figure out who I have in mind.

This is what I read in the quoted post.

I don't know what happened here.  None of us do.

Then I continued on reading past there to the part where he shared with us his "oft used statement" that a woman getting drunk is comparable to someone waving $100 notes around and having money falling out of their pockets, or to leaving your car unlocked with the engine running.  He also clearly implied such an action is basically volunteering (to be raped).

You will notice I quoted the entire post and not just the last sentence so not sure what you think I took out of context.

I'm also curious how often he does go around spewing his statement - every time there is a rape?  "Ooooooh goodie, I can get my oft used statement out again."

Being raped sucks for sure, but so does being locked up in a Thai prison for years and years because a drunk woman that consented to sex last night changes her mind this morning.

I don't know what happened here.  None of us do.  But I do know there are (at least) 2 sides to every story.  And this wouldn't be the first foreign lady raped by a local, nor the first foreign lady who decided that sex last night wasn't a good idea- regardless of which is the case.

And I'll repeat my oft used statement that I should be able to walk around in public with $100 bills hanging out of my pocket, should be able to leave my car running while I'm inside shopping, and I should be able to leave my front and back doors open for a cross breeze while I'm sleeping.  But that's not the way the world works and I'd be an idiot to think it was.  It doesn't excuse the perpetrator.  But that's not being a victim.  That's being a volunteer.

Ah, so she volunteered to be raped.  Yeah, makes sense now you say it.

What a sorry bunch of misogynists populate this forum.

It does not further your argument when you out and out lie. I am sure many people on here use the BTS everyday, some no doubt from Thonglor and they will know that you are quite simply a liar. I use the BTS everyday for 12 odd years going to and from work. I can count on one hand the amount of times i have had to wait for more than the 1st train to get on. At 12.30pm you are straight up lying.

I agree with this.  I also use it daily.  At 8.30am at Asoke this morning I had to let one train go but I got on the next one which came within a couple of minutes.  Used it four more times through the day, from Phrom Phong, from Thonglor, absolutely never even a hint of a question about not being able to board.  This is true every day.

Saying you can't get on a train at 12.30pm is totally untrue.

That is an old map, Tao Poon, Samrong and the purple line isn't on it

And neither are the other several lines that are already under construction and opening over the coming few years.

    Likely very under capacity.

So if 1,200 cars is likely very under capacity, how big would you build the car park?  5,000?  10,000?  Where would you put it?  Would love to know the answer.

You're right though: London underground, New York subway, Shanghai Metro, Singapore MRT - they all provide much bigger car parks at mass transit stations.  Why does Thailand only provide "under capacity" (likely) car parks?

Seriously, they provide car parking for 1,200 cars - that is quite a lot and should be applauded.  And we know it'll be cheap.  And your only comment was it'll likely be very under capacity.  So please tell us what you would have done differently.

Folks have reported collecting 20K Baht from an ATM while being escorted to their plane after being refused entry for not having that cash, to use on their return.   Others have also reported on the ATMs in airside-departure.  I hope someone will snap some pics, the next trip through, if they are still there.

Maybe at Don Mueang - I never fly through there - but certainly not at Suvarnabhumi.

If that were the reason, there would not be many ATMs after immigration for outgoing passengers. It is clear that the failure to provide ATMs before immigration is a deliberate decision to increase immigration officials' leverage with travelers who do not carry cash.

Absolute rubbish.  There are no ATMs after immigration at BKK.  Well there is one but it only dispenses foreign currency, not THB, and you need a foreign visa or mastercard to use it, or a foreign currency account at SCB.  I have never ever seen anyone using this machine in countless trips through the airport.

There are no "normal" ATMs at all, not one.  So your conspiracy theory is nonsense.

    Does it really matter.same outcome.

Yes, it does matter as it says a lot about the poster which is why I asked.  What does it have to do with the kid and his talent?

My issue: did they see a successful Thai and happened to know an obscure story about their mother and thought they would share it, or did they see a story about a successful Thai and went Googling to see what they could find and they struck gold with a story about their mother, rubbed their hands with glee and went straight to TV?

We all know it was the latter, and it is really sad and pathetic.

No. Originally Tesco Lotus was associated with CP group but they sold their shares back to Tesco. Headquarters is at Ek-Chai Distribution in Bangkok with a mix of Western and Thai executives. The headquarters of the parent company is based at Tesco House in Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire, England.

Yes indeed, thanks for that.  I think you know the point I was getting at and you've just illustrated it again nicely - you shouting about it being an all-caps BRITISH company showing the Thais the way forward when it seemed like they were pioneering.

Now they have gone back on it and it is a totally pointless exercise it is now acknowledged that it was originally CP owned, but is now operated by Ek-Chai with a mixture of Thai and foreign executives; ie. it is not so shouty BRITISH.
