105,000 visiting Thailand every day of the year!!
I don't buy it!
Why not? Can't wait to hear your armchair reasoning.
I fly regularly for work and the last few trips the airport has been absolutely packed. And that's just BKK. There is also DMK and all the other points of entry.
I'm guessing you don't get out much.

This sounds very tempting. I presume since its located after air carry bag security that one cannot apply until after check-in with airline, so at whim of airline as to when they open for check in? Do normal check in only start 2 hours before flight so we have to rely on not too big a queue at the re entry counter so as to get enough time to get flight. I would happily go 4 hours before the flight to avoid the trip to CW, but I think we are limited to just two hours? Anyone confirm please?
That depends on the airline. If flying TG the desks are open all the time so you can check in when you want. Emirates is also usually available as they have so many flights per day. But the airlines with only one or two flights a day only man their desks before their flights and it varies by airline - some three hours, some two hours.
But I wouldn't worry, the re-entry permit has never taken me more than 10 minutes.

I can't be arsed to read even a tenth of 43 pages and counting of this depressing drivel, but as one can see just of quotes pulled from one page, a 1 and a 1/2 day old thread is already 43 pages long, and counting, full of vitriol, non understanding of their surroundings, lack of respect of the local culture and just hideous glass half empty moaning types.
Basically a typical Thai Visa thread then.
And they come on here and moan about "the savages", they have no Thai friends, no Thais respect them etc. Of course not, look at your behaviour! Who's going to give respect to the man not making any effort to be cordial, muttering under his breath, not returning wais.
I just do not understand why these people stick around.

So this is news. The result of a poll amongst the most negative miserable bunch of people in the country shows that most of them expect things in Thailand will get worse. No shock there.
A sample size of 360 old duffers.
Seriously any poll on Thaivisa is hardly going to say Thailand is going to be amazing when the majority of posters absolutely hate living here, look down on Thais, and basically hate their lives.
Why is this even a news article? It's quite ridiculous.

Spray water in the street to combat smog, drench everyone and flood the streets, then turn on boat propellors to push all the water out to sea. ????

You have to wonder. Maybe they don’t like women? I’m struggling to think of any other humane reason.
Unfortunately not an uncommon trait on this forum. You can search for any number of threads about rapes where people defend the rapist with comments such as "why are we taking her word for it". "Maybe she went voluntarily and changed her mind at the last moment and wants to avoid embarrassment so she calls rape" etc etc.
Very sad. Very very sad.

Wow, that analogy couldn't be more wrong. I really don't understand why some people are sticking up for this guy.
It was his boat, he was in charge of it, it was totally, irrefutably, his responsibility and no one else's. If he gave the wheel to a child and it went wrong it would be the child's fault and not his? No, he should not have let the child drive the boat. I haven't seen any concrete evidence to suggest he was or was not driving at the time, but either way it does not matter, not a jot. It was his responsibility as the owner / skipper of the boat.
Take the analogy further; if the captain of the Costa Concordia said he gave the wheel to a girl he just met at the bar and she crashed it, it would not be his responsibility right because he wasn't steering it at the time? It would be like blaming the passenger. Yes, that is a massive cruise ship, this is a pissy little speedboat, but the principal is the same.
Someone died as a result of his lack of responsibility. He was tried in a court of law and found guilty of manslaughter, end of story. But in the Thai Visa court I assume different rules apply? Not only that but the coward has fled, evading justice, evading responsibility. He'd been warned previously for his behaviour on the water whilst trying to impress girls, his boat was not maintained and had many dangerous faults, life saving equipment was not accessible. Do you not understand this part? The man is an idiot, he was reckless, he was irresponsible, he was found guilty in a court of law, and somebody is dead as a result. Why is that so hard to comprehend for some people on here? Why are people absolving him of blame? It makes me sick. It is ridiculous and an insult to common decency and the memory of the poor dead young lady.
Get a grip.

Found this. To register for the special tags they need to fill out a form, give ID, provide a medical certificate, and emergency contact details. I mean it's a nice thought, but seriously who is going to bother with all that?

So whats' the process for obviously pregnant women who don't have a tag or it's hidden in the folds of their clothing?
You don't get have to get up for them - let them stand. That'll teach them not to wear their tag properly.

How do I get to the taxi queue from international arrivals on level 2?
You go down to Level 1 (Ground Level). Can't miss it.

You'll be fine on either of those.
Usually the bus issue is because an aircraft is being swapped from a domestic route to an international one and therefore can't be moved between airbridges in domestic and international concourses - so they plonk it at a remote gate and bus you out. Should never happen with Emirates or Cathay.

And they worked this out how???
It's not rocket science.
How many bags do they use, on average, per month. How many bags did they use in the month sincethe new policy was introduced. Subtract one number from the other and bingo, there you go.
Glad I could help.

Amazing Thailand, LOL!
Why is that Amazing Thailand? I guess your comment is because there is a value attached? It is a business. They know how many bags they use and they know how much they cost, why wouldn't they?
Do you think Tesco in the UK, Sainsbury's, absolutely any supermarket wouldn't know the price of their bags and exactly how many they use?
What a bizarre comment.

Tax=Task?
Tags. Please give your seat to pregnant women wearing special tags. Normally it's quite easy to spot a pregnant person but apparently they are now supposed to ask for a special tag so people recognise that - it is quite bizarre.
@Crossy yeah, the BTS announcements are / were usually pretty good but this one is ludicrous. And they seem to have increased the frequency of the announcements and made them much much louder. Moving inside the train away from door areas, hold the straps, don't lean on the stanchions, no eating or drinking, mind the gap between train and platform (there really isn't one), give your seat to pregnant woooomen wearing special tags - constantly on a loop. Quite annoying and pretty pointless.

Just curious, what's with the portable metal ramp/stairs in the OP photo, and seemingly the platform being considerably lower than the entry to the train itself?
In the BTS and MRT, of course, the platform and train entry walkways are level/even....
Maybe the Prayut tour was getting onto the trains in the OP photo at someplace other than a regular station platform entry???
That's the depot / maintenance centre.

Probably another example of indepth Thai police work.
Nice unrelated Thai bash. You can never resist getting one in can you.
There is no arrest warrant out for him in Thailand. He fled justice in the UK. What has that got to do with the Thai police?

A Vision by Thailand ???, Cambodia offers Residency to Foreigners, Malaysia MMM2H 10 year visa , panama Permanent Residence to Foreigners after 6 months living there , Indonesia 5 year resident visa x 5 Years at a time.
All these countries welcome expats with open arms with no hassles or drama because they know we have dollars.
But there Attitude will beat the Thais and they will back away from Permanent residency or long term visas
And there's probably a bunch of moaning old expats on IndonesiaVisa.com complaining about whatever it is that irks them about visa processes there and saying "Thailand is bringing in 10 year visas, maybe it's time we moved".
Yawn.

That sounds great thanks. I think I will give them a try instead of wasting all day going to CW to get a Re entry.
Yeah, it is a million times easier than going to CW. I have done it at the airport 3-4 times now and it's never taken more than 10 minutes.

Do all international travelers exit thro Hall 2 at BKK airport? What are the other halls for and does it affect ability to get re entry permit if not going thro Hall 2?
It's up to you which hall you choose. Normally you just go to whichever one is closest to your check in counter (or whichever one looks quieter). But Reentry permits are only available in Hall 2.
I used it on Monday and I have to say they were really nice, friendly and polite. I asked them to put my stamp quite a few pages back in a space I found as my passport is nearly full. They even made a note of the page number and not a problem. Then once I received my passport back the guy said to follow him and he stamped me out of the country with a smile! They used to make you go and join the immigration queue but now it seems they stamp you out themselves.

He's renamed the "Premium Lane" at an airport to be "Fast Track". And you clicked on an article about it. That's invading your life?? Every hour of it??
Would you like to be a little more melodramatic?

Two problems I see with this. 1. To have a system up and running (bug free) in six months is a very tall order. Tall as in Mount Everest tall. 2. This will mean hour upon hour upon hour of line ups at immigration coming into the country. Having to enter your own info at electronic stations. I forcast that it will be one big cluster at the airports.
What on earth are you talking about - hours and hours of queues? Having to enter your own information into terminals?
Where did you come up with that?

You could get the re-entry permit. When you enter the country with the non-b visa be sure to put the visa number on the arrival card. If the officer says something about the re-entry permit tell him you do not want to use it. Normally they use whichever allows the longest entry.
Are you aware you have to apply online to the embassy in Singapore. See: http://www.thaiembassy.sg/visa-matters-consular
If there was a problem with the application you would know about before leaving the country.
Hi Ubonjoe,
Thanks for the reply, very helpful. Yes, I had forgotten I had to apply online first, I'll do that now.

Hi,
I loved and worked here (legally) for 23 years. Recently I left a job and will be starting a new one here soon at a BOI company. I am currently on a 60 day tourist visa and just extended by 30 days yesterday. On Sunday I will go to Singapore and while there I will apply for a Non B. The company are issuing me all the necessary docs but we are a new company and I am the first foreign employee.
When I leave on Sunday I am thinking of getting a re-entry permit just in case there is an issue with the paperwork (as this is the company's first time doing this) I can come back easily, sort out the issue then go back again. My question - assuming the application goes smoothly - would there be an issue with me having the re-entry permit and therefore an "active" visa? Or would they just dismiss this and issue me a non B? Basically do I need to leave without a re-entry permit so my current visa is therefore null and void or is it ok to have a re-entry stamp for it?
I have had a one year non O based on marriage, extended that, then a 60 day tourist (long story), extended. So I don't want to take the risk of coming back on a visa exempt if for some reason I don't get the non B.
Thanks.
