  1. It goes something like this.

For farangs dark skin symbolises affluence, that is they have more time for leisure like going to the beach, golf or any outdoor activity that will make someone's skin darker signifies someone is rich.

I think that is why farangs find dark skined asians atractive. :)

After spending the majority of my 34 years in England ive never been aware that English folk link dark skin with wealth, where were all these dark skinned whiteys when i was growing up? as the only time i saw any was in the summer months of July and August ... not that im saying you've just made it up or anything!

The reason why most farangs are seen with a dark skinned Thai girls is the fact that they picked her up in a bar or freelance nightclub where the girls are predominantly from Isaan and darker skinned.

  2. Same in the US when the word is used alone outside talking about cards or garden tools. Perhaps you don't have the common phrase BACK IN SPADES there, almost an everyday usage phrase in the US and 100 percent non-offensive, I guarantee you that.

He's correct, coming from someone who has been called a "spade" and worse I can definitely say the above post was not offensive at all and simply means back in bountiful numbers, nothing more.

But its black people that call each other what are now perceived as worse names ... i can see somewhere in the near future where the terms "black people" or "he's black" will be deemed racist, for merely mentioning the skin colour.

  3. WHY do many young Caucasion women in farang lands go to tanning booths, tan on the beach, in order to get more brown ??

Many men do aswell, lots of tight shirt wearing geezers as black as the ace of spades in LOS these days ... but to answer your question i personally never sunbathe but do think i look healthier/ more hansum if thats possible with a bit of colour to my face, im sure women think the same.

Conversely, WHY do many young Asian women (in this case Thai women) use whitener soap, stay out of the sun, in order to be "whiter" ?? Neither likes the way they naturally are..

They stay out of the sun as it ages them, and want to be white as its deemed more attractive and all the pretty girls on the TV and Magazines are lighter, but they dont want to be white like farangs more like Koreans who i was told only the other day by a Thai women are said to be the most beautiful women in the world ... with Thais merely coming in at no.3.

If it makes them happy to be lighter skinned let them get on with it, IMO lighter skinned Thai girls are cuter but thats more to do with the structure of their faces as opposed to skin colour.

  4. And re the service charge - it probably does not go to the staff if today's service is any indication!

One or two of them are on the ball - the other two to three are not even on the field.......

Theyre ok in there, they do seem to get through a lot of staff though, maybe this is a sign its a 10% scam as opposed to a service charge.

  5. I find myself thinking, "I could do better than this" when I eat out more often these days.

Yes im no great cook, but most restaurants i go into i think the same especially when it comes to western food.

Only reason for me not returning is the foods sh7te - Shennanigans Pattaya, the Western Style pub on Soi 8 Sukhumvit, both sell the worst food imagineable.

  6. I used to go out bar/street fighting fully grown men in the early 90s when i was aged 16-20, it was always one on one unless it were a group fight.

However things have moved on since then and if this drunken oath was starting on me in 2009 and if he is on the floor i'd have gladly stamped on his head and kicked him in the face to make sure he didnt get up, you dont know if someone is tooled up or not these days, and its nice to get home healthy and safely ...... Granted if my mate had sparked him out i wouldnt join in.

  7. Loud mouth farang gets taken down by a typical cowardice Thai. One on one they will run a mile every time.

I agree theyre cowards, but i'm pig sick of fat asses like this guy in England thinking theyre hard after a few beers and he was quite clearly starting the fight .... hope his head hurt in the morning.

Exactly, I hate people who to make themselves look big and hard start a fight. What a tool, he deserved everything he got.

"who wants it" hahaha classic !

Yeah, makes you feel good to see some shit head cowards kicking the guy in the face whilst he is knocked out. They are your type of hero :)

It makes me smile seeing some drunken tw4t who starts fights get knocked clean out i couldnt care less if it was Thais, Mexicans or Americans doing it. All he got were 2 light kicks when he was on his way down which he equally deserved there was no stamping on his head or weapons used and they didnt continue the beating when he was down.

  9. Essentially, we are only welcome here if we are contributing to the Thai economy, at a much higher rate than the average Thai.

What would be the benefit to Thailand if low income Expats where to be allowed to live here?

    A common sense immigration policy.

Pity the British government seems to think unlimited masses of poor, unskilled workers are good for our economy.

  10. Sepp Blatter backs Real Spree ----- At least Platini's consistent.

    http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11095_5376909,00.html

Fifa president Sepp Blatter has backed Real Madrid's record-breaking £80million bid for Cristiano Ronaldo, as he believes it proves football remains a growth industry.

Earlier this week his Uefa counterpart Michel Platini described the Spanish titan's offer, along with the £56million signing of Kaka, as being 'excessive'.

Given the global recession Real's unprecedented spending has surprised many within the football fraternity, but Blatter feels the game will benefit in the long run.

Speaking ahead of the Confederations Cup in South Africa, Blatter said: "It means that our product is still a good product. If this is the game of the people, they need stars.

    Sensitive market

"OK, it is a lot of money, but he is performing. We are in a very sensitive market nowadays because there is an economic crisis. In football, we are still in a good market."

If Ronaldo does follow Kaka in moving to the Spanish capital, then it means Madrid will have made the four most expensive signings (in euros) in history, having also splashed out huge money on Zinedine Zidane and Luis Figo during Florentino Perez's previous term as president from 2000-06.

Madrid also lavished big fees on the likes of Brazilian forward Ronaldo and David Beckham as part of the club's famous 'galacticos' policy, and Blatter believes the current situation is not too different to how it was a decade ago.

"Almost 10 years ago, Luis Figo went from Barcelona to Real Madrid for £37million," he said. "So what is £80million now? That means there is still demand to have a star

  11. Ive just spent another week in Patts was there for a month in April, and its a fcuken awful place to be for a tourist with it being so quite, hassled at every corner and rude words spoken when you blank people who are shouting at you. I say Mai ao khap to certain people but im not saying it to every single shop i walk past.

This time of year shows the true face of what Thais in the tourist resorts really think of us.

  12. Cheers,

thanks, for those of us who used this spot, can we now expect it to be ruined by an influx of backpackers and down at heel english teachers, sorry just re-checked 260baht is a teachers allowance for the day, what a relief.

Its a business the money from these people is worth the same as yours ... apart from youre obvioulsy richer and know all about Thailand.

The ony thing i hold against Via Vai is the 10% service charge can anyone confirm it goes to the staff or is it just a way to rip us off?

  13. One's diet should be a way of life, a life-style, a noun, not an adverb, not some fad way to lose a couple pounds.

You should do it scientifically and get a real good medical first, to make sure all the vitals are working OK

If ya work out in the gym enough, one can eat almost everything, in moderation.

Next to sashimi, Thai food is excellent. McDonalds & cheesecake are not Thai.

Its calories in, vs calories out. Common sense.

Anything in a box, bag, packet or tin is garbage - empty calories. Lose them.

Fresh fruit & veg is a great start - ya got the water part correct - 10/12 glasses min.

Your brain dont know the difference between thirst & hunger - go with the H2O first.

    BR>Jack

My brain knows the difference between thirst and hunger, and calories in calories out will only keep you slim, not healthy.

Id be interested to know if anyone can offer advice to the OP, as most if not all Thai food i see is as he described.

The only food i order which i know is what i'd think healthy is fish or various plain meats with rice.

Most vegetables served in Thai dishes are so overcooked theyve lost all goodness.

Best option is to cook for yourself.

  14. After Joey Barton, Guitierez, Alan Smith and Damien Duff pledged their allegiance to the club they love and will fight to the death for Obafemi Martins is the latest who is willing to sacrifice his career to get Newcastle back in the big time.

    http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,12876_5376278,00.html

The cynic in me thinks theyre desperate for their signing bonus they get if the dont request a transfer and want Newcastle to finance part of their wages when theyre at their new club as no one will pay them as much as they presently get.

Whilst theyre contracted to get this money, they deserve a slap for treating the fans with such contempt.

  15. Joe McLean, a partner with Grant Thornton, believes high-earning stars will inevitably be drawn to countries like Spain due to the prospect of the 50% income tax rate coming into force in the UK next April.

''By going to Spain, Ronaldo will be paying several million pounds a year less in tax,'' McLean told said.

the fact is in the UK he will pay £5m in tax on £10m, whereas in Spain it will be £2.5m.

When Labour lose the next election this will go back down to 40-45% im willing to bet it'll be in the Tories manifesto.

This law in Spain is only for 4 years where they have to pay tax at such a low rate it was set up for foreign Bankers i read recently .... with Spain in far greater sh7te then pretty much any country in Europe there is bound to be tax rises aimed at the rich ... theyre commies at heart the Spaniards.

  16. have you seen the new Pizza place in the food court in central mall? looks ok but prices are very high for a food court ,it was deserted ,afraid we wont be trying it at those prices, not in a food court anyway.

Is it the foodcourt or the restaurant right next to it called Pizza Pizza, if so you walked past the best pizza in all of Thailand.

  17. from the corner of soi4 and sukhumvit walk past the service station and its the second drugstore the big one on Sukhumvit . About a 20metre walk from soi 4

right next door to the Irish pub on sukhumvit

Cheers heres to a good nights sleep home. :)

  18. That sounds suspiciously like the opinion of someone who went, once, to somewhere on Ekkamai, which happened to be one of the 10 or so hi so joints down there, and didnt like it. Ekkamai has a great deal more than that going on.

You really are Mr Thailand, i was the Gik of a girl who owned a business there and spent quite a bit of time here.

Do you think if i didnt Wai the glass collectors people may have been nicer to me?

  19. Ekkamai has some cool up and coming nice places.

These places you talk of in Ekkamai are on the whole extremely pretentious, full of people who want everyone to think theyre really rich for some unknown reason. I avoid similar places in the UK like the plague, give me a proper working mans pub in England on a Friday afternoon anyday.

The OP has a point that Lower Sukhumvit isnt what it once was, and IMO there is an bad atmosphere in the air .... maybe his comparison with Pattaya isnt the best one.

  20. Does anyone know where i can get a packet of 1mg Xanax/Alprazolam in BKK Sukhumvit area for my impending flight back home?

    Also what should they cost?

150 baht for a strip pharmacy near soi 4 don't ask in thai or they will not sell, it's illegal to. It's generic not the original.

Cheers but exactly where is this Pharmacy there are many in this area.
