  1. could we please discuss the party and leave the rest in the Thai language forum? cool.png

We had badges at all parties that I attended and found it very useful as you could finally have a chat with those you always wanted to meet in person. I'm pretty sure we will do this again this time.

Sorry Raro but you are telling pokies the one in Pattaya at 'Berts'no one had a badge except for you ,this was the night when you 'rang the bell'and almost hit Bert with it.biggrin.png

  2. At the olde bell the last time I found nothing wrong with it,free beer, free food, and I had no probs with wearing the name tag (may be it should be no free beer or food with out the name tag being shown).

  3. I'm sure you can find a cinema, but there's really not a lot to do in Lampang.

There is a cinema in Big C but it is only Thai movies, not realy much good (well not to me any way).
  4. 840,000 people on low incomes have been taken out of paying income tax and people are whinging about pensioners not being given an increase in their tax free allowance which is already a higher allowance than given to people who are working and carrying pensioners and everyone else who does not work on their pay packet deductions.

A helping hand to 840,000 people at the bottom of the ladder -that's not good news, it's great news

But sadly - in the whingy whiney non-thinking climate that is modern day Britain - people prefer to focus on the reduction of the 50% top rate, a tax which raised no money at all - indeed could be argued to have cost the country money as high tax payers like me left the UK shortly after its introduction - and was a pathetic populist political gesture by Darling, Brown and his mob.

Rats and sinking ships springs to mind.

  5. I tried the newly opened aeon atm at big c lampang using a santandar debit card it don't work (no probs at other atms) any one have any ideas, and yes there is money in the bank. It's a master card, make any difference?.

  6. I'm 65 in April, last September I notified UK pensions of my address in Thailand, later they sent me the forms to make a claim, sent them back to them and have now had my monthly payment amount to be started paying in May,no probs. They also sent me a letter saying that a company by their a that I worked for in the 60's-70's are trying to get in touch with me to pay me a pension.I can't fault the UK pension system at all.

Wait and watch for the yearly inflation increases, they will be conspicuous by their absence, you might think differently then.

But I won't be in the UK to worry about the the inflation increases,I'll be in Thailand with three pensions going into the bank, and also paying VAT at 7% not 20%,car payed for, house payed for,m/c payed for and the cost of living in Thailand a dam sight less then than the UK.Do you think that I am better off living in Thailand or the UK?,answers on a post card please.

Inflation does not just apply to the UK it will erode your savings here as well, you just dont know what you dont know, things could change tomorrow and you would not look so smug then, I do however congratulate you on having the good planning sense to have aquired what sounds like a good pension plan so I hope it works out as you plan.

I didn't think I was being smug, I was just stating the facts of my position as it is,I came over here in 2002 when the rate was good, now I don't think I would be able to do what I did with todays baht rate.

Let's hope the UKP doesn't fall to 1UKP to 10BHT, else you and your three pensions might come a cropper.

Let's also hope none of your pension funds fail, another serious future possibility.

Do you think I will be the only one to strugle if we get 10 baht to the pound. At least I am honest and tell the UK goverment where I live not like some others.

  10. The writer attacks parliamentary respresentatives for accusing other members of 'wearing a skirt'

    Then states

"Even better would be for Yingluck to prove to society that she is the one who wears the pants"

I think the writer is just a little confused with the effort of trying to aim criticism at Yingluck and providing enough solid example to back the claim up other than one single comment

I'm sure you can supply us with a plethora of decisions that were clearly her own, no reports of calls from Dubai, perhaps something that has annoyed her brother. Maybe even a minister without a record of Thaksin sycophancy?

Please try to keep your Thaksin obsession out of every thread.......it simply removes any incentive to respond to your posts.......thanks

It must be very difficult to do so as she is Thaksin's sister and admits to talking to him all the time and asking advice.

She claimed that the "new"cabinet was all her own idea yet one new minister knew he would be a minister before the announcement as he said openly that he had been to see Thaksin and was assured days before the announcement that he had the job.

He did not talk to Yingluck but to her big brother who seems to be the person running the government from self imposed exile.

And a good job he's doing as well, just think how better he would be if he was the Prime Minister.
