  1. I use Windows to run a couple of programs that I use once a year. Why? Linux is far superior. I run Win10 in a VM where it can't do much damage. I won't consider WIn11 until my programs are no longer supported by Win10. Probably around 2030 if I'm still alive (or if any of us are still alive).
  2. I've noticed a couple of things recently regarding 'bug meds' for dogs in the last year. 1. The prices have almost tripled in many cases; and 2. That's if you can find it online. Like many things in my life, I set a "this is BS price limit" on certain items that I are convenient but not absolute necessities. I was able to buy pill form bug meds for my dogs for between 600 to 800 THB for three tabs not that long ago. Now the same meds are selling at least twice the amount if not triple. Me? The manufacturer's have price themselves out of the range I'm willing to pay. I'm simply not going to buy them at their new prices. So, I'm looking for alternatives. Anyone have suggestion as to what you're using that is still affordable?
  3. A granny-gramps threesome would be dandy. So says my friend.
  4. Just wondering what other people use in the way of sunscreen/sunblock and why do you like the brand(s) that you use? I'm interested in trying a new brand. I use Wild Lives 40 however it has a really strong smell, but I like that it's a liquid. Easier to apply but leaves a "slick" on your skin. I also use Vitara 50+ but it seems to have hard little 'balls' in it that makes it sort of uncomfortable to apply. Perhaps that is a "one off." Seems to work well enough though. Then there is just plain zinc oxide. Works well if you're not self-conscious. At my age? I'm not looking to win the Hansum-Man award. What's everyone else using especially as we roll into the months where the sun is very strong.
  5. Twinkies!!! The devil's scourge. "Muhhhhhaaaaahaaa" Look up Dan White and "The Twinkie Defense" online. "The term originated from the 1979 trial of Dan White, a San Francisco politician, who was charged with first-degree murder. A testifying psychiatrist pointed out that White's consumption of sugary foods, such as Twinkies, could lead to diminished capacity." -law.cornell.edu
  6. I occasionally drink Kratom Tea and occasionally smoke a 'before bed-time' bowl of bud. I can assure anyone who asks that that combination doesn't turn me into a raging, genocidal maniac. On the contrary, like back in the SF Haight-Ashbury days - "Peace and Love man!" ☮️ <cue Cheech and Chong> What is more likely is a combination of methamphetamine and/or alcohol. Tweekers and drunks can go ballistic in a heart-beat over just about nothing. However there is a major PR push to demonize 'gun-cha.' This all is the Thai equivalent of Reefer Madness.
  7. My wife's house book has her maiden name that has been crossed out and my last name written in by hand and initialed by someone. Immigration hasn't said a word. Her Thai ID has my last name.
  8. Their both hotties in my humble and lecherous, elderly, "dirty-old-man" opinion. <rubs hands together, winks, laughs, cackles with glee> However, for me - Michelle Yeoh. She moves better than Yingluck. ❤️
  9. Use a browser like Chromium without any add-ons or if you are using a browser that provides multi-profiles, create a profile for Lazada and keep it free of add-ons. If you are using a VPN, shut it off. I've had similar problems and narrowed it down to an add-on I use and my VPN. Once you log-in successfully Lazada should set a cookie that identifies your browser and locations as a Lazada trusted device. Keep it simple. Best of luck.
  10. Our local hospital pumps thought upward of 100 patients in a morning and 150 in a day. Highly efficient. Detractors will say, "But it's not quality healthcare like the US and UK." Really? Bunk. US - great healthcare for the wealthy. UK - months wait-times and they are getting to the point where they don't even want to see you in person. Thailand has a premier healthcare system.
  11. Is working in my own garden, or helping clean the local temple's ground legal. Technically? Maybe; Maybe not. Realistically? Ever seen news reports of farangs picking up garbage and cleaning their neighborhoods? I've never seen a follow-up news report stating that the farang was busted for "working without a work permit." Doing things for 'family and friends.' That's pretty much off the radar My suggestion? Don't lose any sleep over it.
  12. FYI. Before we bought, the Suzuki dealership in Chiang Mai drove a test Celerio to our home in Lamphun to allow us to test drive the car. Good customer service.
  13. Suzuki Celerio. My 5 speed cost ฿360K when I bought it. I didn't buy any of the additional packages, just bare bones as my philosophy on cars is it gets you from point A to point B. I don't need to drive a status symbol or fancy gadgets. Good gas mileage at about 23 km/liter (~54 miles/gal) If you added automatic I believe it was around another 100K THB. Great city car. Easy to maneuver. Small engine ~1000cc. Yeah, it sounds gutless, but it is geared very efficiently and can get it up to speed on the highway faster than the majority of Thais. It's surprisingly quick. I've driven it in the mountains to Pai and Mae Hong Son a number of times as well as trips to BKK and Cha-am. It will cruise at 100k/h when you are driving long distance. However I tend to drive the speed limits or slightly below as it extends the gas mileage. On the outside it looks small, but it is surprisingly roomy on the inside. Hatchback and the back seat drops. I look for affordability and maneuverability especially city driving. This had it all for approximately 10K USD. Wife and I are very happy with it. I could have bought His and Hers Celerios for both the wife and I for what you'll spend on the type of cars most people feel that can't do without.
  14. Actually, we all should actively be contributing to the "Ships On Time" rating if we are having problems, as it will help others.
  15. Hasn't been your year for Lazada, 'eh Crossy. I'd say that 95% of my orders can be processed COD, and I prefer COD as it makes it easier to cancel if there is too much of a time lag. Out of those 5%, I make bank transfers. I've had to wait on occasion as it is usually things that ship from overseas that aren't offered COD, but I haven't had your problems. Hope things get better for ya!
  16. Reverse Osmosis at home. Berkey water filter for emergencies.
  17. Thai banks unaffected by two recent US bank failures..... .....until they are.
  18. It's pretty much impossible to have a bank honor a DPA unless you set it up before leaving, no less creating a DPA outside of the US.
  19. Yeah, I sold my cheap-***ed US made wedding ring to a gold shop when I first got here. I was however making a purchase.
