  1. Harvard Acknowledges Deep Antisemitism Crisis Following Scathing Internal Report Harvard published what they needed to publish in order to get their Federal funding back. There - fixed it!
  2. A root canal for a molar will average about 13K here, less for pre-molars and teeth with one canal. 20K? Overpriced.
  3. There is something that is broken beyond repair within modern society. Which is one reason I broke free from all of the Abrahamic religions decades ago. Everyone is killing each other in the name of the same god. It would be humorous if it wasn't so inhumanly and pathetically evil. Hence the retreat to Buddhism - nobody I have ever met who is a true Buddhist condones waging war and engaging in the killing of others based on their ethnicity or religion. Abrahamic religions pay lip service to "Thy shall not kill," except when their god tells them it's time to wipe everyone else out "in His name" of course. So you have all three Abrahamic religions and their offshoots killing the other members of their Abrahamic religions, all uttering the name of the same god on their lips as they wage war and engage in killing. Can nobody else see the perverse irony it that? There's the sad state of human-kind, but as a Buddhist, we explicitly acknowledge the reality we exist in - yep, this never-ending strife, conflict, killing, and destruction - in the name of god of course - is the reality into which we were born. So you use that knowledge to transcend above the fray with compassion for those anchored in endless war and suffering. It's the state of this world - it will never change. If you're smart, you look for the path out.
  4. Kaow man gai (steamed chicken over rice) still 40 THB. Pork prices wayyyy down off of their highs. Op gai (roast chicken) still 105 THB for whole chicken. A bowl of noodles in pork broth with "red pork" still 25 THB in the village. Vegetable - dirt cheap. Plus what I grow myself is essentially free outside of the minimal cost of some 10/10/10 fertilizer. Things like coffee and chocolate: global prices dictate a lot of that cost. Don't like the prices? Stop buying the product.
  5. This is a horse. You don't believe me? Well, if you don't believe this is a horse then you're “scientifically illiterate” and “biologically nonsensical". If I say this is a horse, then goddamnit, it's a horse! Now let me show you a cow. Check out the udders on this one. Let's try a pit of vipers. In that case, I guess this is a woman.
  6. So today's Millennial and Gen-X doctors in the UK all failed Biology. No wonder the NHS is self-imploding.
  7. Too big to fail; Too rich to jail. Same same, no difference.
  8. Looks like he was beat-down outside of a bank of ATMs. My guess is that he was trying to get money. When that failed to work - immediate violence. just another reason to say, Good Morning Vietnam!!!
  9. And if you venture outside of the tourist enclaves, you can get those items for 1/2 the price again.
  10. "Thailand, once a beacon for budget-conscious travellers worldwide, is increasingly facing criticism from international tourists over escalating costs and shifting experiences. Historically renowned for its picturesque beaches, lively cities, and affordability, the kingdom is now being reevaluated by tourists disenchanted with what it currently offers." Shifting Experiences - Thailand is like a manic-depressive who stopped taking their Lithium prescription. You never know if you're going to wake up to Dr. Jekyll or Mr. Hyde. Typical Daily Headline: Foreigner tourists shock Thais............. Thais outraged over farang............... (Enter nationality here) jailed for touching (Enter sea creature here that are usually eaten by Thais and that can be found in a wet market) (Enter nationality here) disrespects sacred Thai (Enter name of object here) Unruly British Tourists (whatever they did goes here) unless its "Scouse" then we all know who it is and what they did. (Enter nationality here) arrested for (Enter heinous crime here which is only a heinous crime for non-Thais) Drunk farang beat half to death by (Enter number of Thais - must be over 5 to be believable) Thai Police are looking for (Enter skin color here) tourist who (Enter something that Thais do daily and nobody cares) Drunk (Enter nationality here) is beaten, stabbed, and hospitalized for failure to pay bill. [Q: Why don't the owners call the police? A: It's more fun to beat, stab, and hospitalize farang instead of calling the police. It must be - it happens pretty much every day. Tourist bashing! Why leave the fun to the police?] Thai authorities crack down on tourists because (pull something out of your ***-cheeks) Now? More tourists to SE Asia are waking up to... GOOD MORNING VIETNAM!!! So now Thailand cares! 😟 Don't forget your Lithium Thailand.
  11. You generally don't do MOHS on some place like an arm unless you are an A-list celeb. It's usually done on places like the nose or face to keep you from looking mutilated. Ideally, prevention is the best Rx. Which is why I see a good dermatologist twice a year. Catch it early and it's nitrogen or a minor cut. MOHS isn't what most guys would opt for given the removal of a lesion on the arm. And about the only MOHS certified doctors are in BKK and they are rare and costly.
  12. Dermatologists are cheap. Magnitudes less than a funeral. If nothing else, have your local hospital's doctor remove and biopsy it. Given all your freckles I'd be checking with a dermatologist annually. I go semi-annually. It's the Scot-Irish ginger part of me that got way more sun than I needed when I was younger.
  13. We just need to build two or three military bases and a naval shipyard and we should be all squared away.
  14. So the motorcycle stopped in the left hand lane (fast lane) with plans to make a turn, as opposed to stopping in the median between the two roads. Can't tell from angle but it would seem there isn't a right-hand turn-out lane to get people making the turn/U-turn out of the main traffic. However, looking at this picture, the motorcycle could have gotten off the road and into the relative safety of center median, but it didn't, it stopped IN the "fast lane" of a highway. And you should expect what? Well, other than getting killed? I've seen Thai drivers do that before and it's suicidal, and yet...they do it. I feel sorry for the kids. Another question (for anyone living down there) is that a legal U-Turn. Usually when there isn't a right-hand turn-out lane for making U-turns, it often means that U-turns are illegal from that direction. That median has to be about 2 1/2 meters across and a car / motorcycle in the middle of that median should be off the road. Yet the motorcycle obviously was not off the road. When I drove motorcycle, turns like that would give me the creeps, and I would drive accordingly - like getting myself and my motorcycle as far off the main road as I could, ie, driving defensively. I would have been as far off the road as possible and still would have been eyeballing my rear-view mirror. Now you can argue it's the fault of the car until the cows come home, but that doesn't put lives back into dead bodies. If you're on a motorcycle you HAVE to drive defensively, but Thais don't, and they die as a consequence. Again - sorry of the children. And I don't see this as 100% the car's fault at all.
  15. True, but if someone can't pay you can petition the court for prison time instead.
  16. If he had been "doing what ever" once he had tapped the taxi with his bumper, he should have floored it and pushed past the taxi and take it up with the police later. In a fair court, the taxi would have been libel for all of the damage for both vehicles.
  17. As I said previously, had the driver been a foreigner.......(enter outrage and calls for the most severe punishment plus prison and deportation here)
  18. You're joking. How do you measure "success." People getting mauled in a cross-walk is almost a weekly new item.
  19. I tend to agree with you. If it's your time to go, the ambulance gets their in a jiffy, and EMS crew has all the necessary equipment to keep you alive...and do, then some Thai drivers runs the red light and T-bones the ambulance. Everyone but you walks away without a scratch, but the impact caused the leads of the defibrillator to come out of their holders and land on your chest and then administers a shock which kills you. When it's time for your ticket to get punched.........
  20. Sounds more like trying to get an ambulance to the NHS. Then you'd wait 1/2 day, or longer.....
  21. I've seen idiots blocking ambulances but they tend to be the same morons who will get in the right-hand lane and drive there forever with the intention of making a right-hand U-Turn at a U-Turn_Of_DeathTM that is 7 kilometers up the road. Ya know, of course they can't get over...the plan to make a turn. Raw bap neung. Just wait a second. I'll be turning and will get out of the ambulance's way in 6.48 kilometers. Raw bap neung!
