  1. I would suggest doing your upmost best to stay out of the Thai prison system, especially as an incarcerated guest! What is it with LFC supporters ending up in a Thai prison?
  2. I would suggest doing your upmost best to stay out of the Thai prison system, especially as an incarcerated guest! What is it with people from Liverpool ending up in a Thai prison?
  3. We didn't see his photo. Must be camera shy unless it's being filmed.
  4. It would be nice if Pattaya could open on 1 Oct. I just don't see it happening yet. I think he is being a little overly optimistic. I'm really waiting for ALL of Thailand to open back up.
  5. Look for January 2022 at the earliest for Thailand to re-open with no quarantine required unless unvaccinated.
  6. I've brought a lot of bikes into and out of Thailand many times over the years. I've used both soft sided and hard sided cases. I wouldn't suggest using a cardboard bike box as that might trigger the customs people into thinking the bike is new as that is what new bikes arrive in. Regardless of which case I use I always pack the bike in foam pipe insulation on the top tube, down tube, seat stays, forks, etc. for both road and mtn bikes. I also use bubble wrap for the derailleurs and handle bars. My word of advice is if you are buying a new bike abroad make sure to get out and ride it a few times. Make sure you get it a little bit dirty. Don't clean the bike before packing. You want it to look used!
  7. The quality of locally produced bicycles in Thailand is not nearly as good. If it's a name brand bike like Specialized, Trek, Giant, Bianchi, etc the price in Thailand for the same exact bike is much higher than the same bike somewhere in the west.
  8. Ok, we get it. Just chill dude........and have a lovely day. Bill Withers - Lovely Day (Official Audio) - YouTube
  9. No! That would just never ever happen. Who would think of doing such a dastardly thing?
  10. Probably two Burmese. Then fled to Koh Tao but ran into some trouble there and got stitched up by the authorities. Well, it would be a good script for the RTP to follow and bring closure to their dubious cases.
  11. Passing the buck to the next committee or study group is a national pastime in Thailand. Hopefully they will open the country up with no quarantine by 1 January 2022. But don't hold your breath!
  12. My luk krung kids were born in the US. We registered their births with a Thai consulate and they issued a Thai birth certificate. Then we applied for Thai passports which they received in about three weeks time. It was much easier doing it in the US then in Thailand. They are both on the tabien bahn They have entered and exited many times over the years on their Thai passports. When they turned 15 they obtained Thai ID cards. Neither of them have served in any military and went to university in the US. They have travelled a few times to Thailand in their 20's and no one ever said a thing about Thai military service. Now in their 30's I really doubt the Thai military will want them. The oldest one owns property in Thailand but both live and work in the US.
  13. I liked Samui best back in the early 90's. Haven't been there in 20 years now. I probably wouldn't recognize the place. As someone else mentioned earlier, the airfare charged by Bangkok Airways keeps a lot of people away. Sure you can fly to Surat Thani for a lot less or take the overnight train but it makes getting there that much longer.
  14. I prefer EVA over JAL but both are good. In reality I would be happy flying either. I kind of like Taipei's airport and transit area a little better but usually my connections are very short. I haven't looked into booking flights lately so I'm not sure what the situation is like transiting through either Taipei or Narita.
  15. Not at all. Kloster was a good beer as was Amarit. Wish they were still around.
  16. That's right. Taxi drivers don't want to keep you in the car that long. They want to get you to your destination and then get a new fare as quickly as possible. They make more from each fare with the automatic 35 baht then with a longer period of time spent in the car.
  17. If their grandmothers were back in the '60s during the American War then I could see this happening again. I'm sure it does now but maybe not to the same extent like back then.
  18. Nope! Not interested in having a mia noi. One Thai female in my life is enough!
  19. When I read the title I thought it was about buying a bike.........as in bicycle! 555. Oh well, that's ok.
  20. If it were me, I wouldn't travel to Thailand until I could be sure that there is no 14 day quarantine.
  21. Excuse me if this has already been asked, but what if a foreigner who has become a naturalized Thai citizen is caught up in a protest? Will the Thai government strip them of their Thai citizenship and then deport them? This is assuming that the person in question is now a dual national and has not renounced their previous citizenship.
